excellent budget choice !”

See my review

like you reading this, i too read numerous reviews of the top 10 budget hotels in kuala lumpa. well after staying at frenz hotel on 2 separate occasions in the last 4 weeks, here’s my review of my own experience at the hotel. after flying 17+ hours from london and arriving at any hotel, you want the basics to be right – and i was very happy to find that this hotel does just that – extremely impressively for the price you pay. good points v-friendly receptionists & porters (thank you !) v. modern & well equipped rooms with large lcd tv superb shower in-room safe box a/c v. comfy bed & cotton sheets ironing board 5 mins from little india/20 mins to chinatown (both walking) free internet decent buffet breakfast bad points i didn’t experience any ! yes i was sceptical about the “thin wall issue” – but it really isn’t a problem – unless there’s a party next door to your room !! in summary, my two stays at this hotel can’t be faulted and the biggest compliment i can give it is that i wouldn’t hesitate to stay here on my next visit to kuala lumpa.

a gem in k,l”

New, clean, good location and super friendly staff

i decided to stay at the frenz hotel upon many positive reviews on various websites, and i was not disappointed. my sister and i shared a twin room for a night including breakfast. while the breakfast was serviceable, the hotel itself is new, clean and centrally located (about 5-10min walk from masjid jamek a major train station and 15min walk from chinatown)so we were delighted. the staff are extremely friendly (one night ordering in some mcdonalds for us) and the rooms are very comfortable. a raindrop shower and premium bedding most definitely made us feel at home. this is a great value hotel and if ever i return to kuala lumpur i wouldn't hesitate to book here.

Very nice hotel, in a prime location”

Great location: in between Chinatown and Little India

the frenz hotel, is not too well known with the taxi drivers - which is strange as it is a very good hotel in a convienent location. the room is spacey and the bathroom is of very high comfort quality. the beds are very cosy and rooms are with airco and satellite tv - and hotel offers free wifi. the location in kuala lumpur was perfect, with plenty of small stalls and shops all around, bus station on the corner and should you be in the mood - a 20 min walk to chinatown/puduraja busstation. the hotel is next to a local restaurant where the breakfast is also served. also, they dinner is very nice, for a affordable price.

3 star price, 4+ star feel.”

Brand new hotel, very comfortable.

Located in Little India, right in the Golden Triangle, is Frenz Hotel. It is a very new hotel, and not many cab drivers have heard of it. It is pretty much across the road from the Coliseum, and that seemed to work as a familiar landmark. The rooms are small, but this hotel, being pretty much brand new, has very nice fixtures. The room was very comfortable, with nice soft pillows, and a big flat screen TV. Not a huge choice of channels, but ok. One drawback was the size of the bed. I'm 6'4", not overly tall, but my feet would hang off the end unless I slept diagonally. The bathroom was nice, and featured a great rain style shower fitting. This was a great feature, but unfortunately the water heater didn't seem to keep up with the volume of water it used. The shower only ran at a warmish temperature at full pelt, or nice and hot while the volume was turned right down. Overall it was a very pleasant stay, and I would definitely stay there again. Having the room so nicely decked out with it's new fittings, appliances, and some art hanging above the bed gives this hotel a much nicer feel than it's 3 star rating would suggest.

Great value for money and location”

In the middle of fast good bargain for goods.

Frenz Hotel have keep up their standard and services up to par surpassing even other 4 star or even 5 star hotels in term of friendliness and location for bargain hunters and sight seeing in the middle of Kuala Lumpur. The room are acceptable for normal occupants, noting extravaganza yet cosy. Yet I like to remind that the house keeping should look on items that had possible wear and tear that comes to travelers which might had been overlooked such as pillows that need to be replaced as they are too soft unable to support the neck and head.

Wonderful little boutique hotel. Amazing rooms!”

Well-designed rooms with incredible attention to detail. All the amenities you need!

we booked the frenz after being unsatisfying with our previous accommodations nearby that was about $10 (us) cheaper. let us tell you that it was the best $10 upgrade ever spent. wow, what a world of difference. this place was perfect for a short stay in kuala lumpur. we landed a last minute room without a window and didn't even notice! the lighting design, bathroom amenities, soft bed, flat screen tv with loads of channels, complimentary wi-fi/water, clean bathroom. the room was almost a mini version of some other luxury resorts we've stayed in. breakfast was indian/continental. the restaurant was actually very accommodating and made us eggs any way we wanted even though it wasn't part of the buffet. so comfortable. the staff were nice and also accommodating, but nothing special. still love frenz!

love this hotel”

spanking new and clean rooms, rainshower, close proximity to train station, friendly staff

i took a long time to find a suitable hotel for our weekend trip in kl. after reading review after review of cockroach-infested hotels, i started to get a little disheartened. i trawled tons of hotel review forums before chancing on this sweet gem. located in the heart of the masjid jamek district, frenz is a must-stay for travelers who wanna mingle with the locals and check out malay street food. frenz is also a very clean and new hotel. husband and i love how the interior designer maximised the use of space in the room. though small, the room has the usual stuff that a regular hotel room has, including an ironing board, iron and hair dryer. no more calling for the room service staff to bring these to your room! also, the staff are extremely helpful and resourceful. they have kindly couriered my prayer beads which i accidentally left in the room after checkout. i only realised this after returning to singapore. thumbs up for excellent guest service!!

Modern, stylish room for a good price”

Value for the money, nice shower, comfortable mattress

My partner and I are Americans lining in Thailand and we were doing a Visa run to Kuala Lumpur for 3 nights. We'd never been there before and were unsure where to stay. I looked on Agoda and found a number of hotels in our price range. When I looked at their reviews, I saw Frenz hotel had a number of good and great ones. We ended up choosing Frenz for one night, then once we stayed and enjoyed it so much we extended for 3 nights. The front desk was helpful and competent. The wi-fi worked from our room. The complementary breakfast in the morning was not our thing (I'm allergic to gluten and to MSG so I didn't feel like I could try anything but the fresh fruit) - but I can see where other people might enjoy it just fine. The best thing about the hotel was the aesthetics of the room itself. It's small (we had a Queen Deluxe) quite small, but it's done very tastefully. While in KL we looked at a hotel in the same price range that was in the Bukit Bintang district - it was dirty, ugly, and old in comparison and we were even more happy with our choice to stay at Frenz. When we return to KL we will definitely stay there again. It's location is not ideal. The Mid-Valley City area or the Bangsar Village area are better for shopping and for organic shops and restaurants, but taxis are very affordable as long as you take a metered taxi. The doorman at Frenz can hail you a cab, but make sure he gets you a metered one.

great staff with clean and modern rooms”

kind and helpful staff

a friend of mine recommended this hotel. i had a pleasant experience staying there for 2 nights. what i love most was how friendly and kind the staff were. one of them even volunatarily brought me to the clinic across the street as i was not feeling well. they staff were kind to help us find our way around kuala lumpur and helpful in accomodating to our needs. the price is definitely reasonable. my queen superior was small but really comfortable, sparkling clean and modern. except that there was a trace of bygone odours as we entered the room and unfortunately me and my friend got bitten by insect throughout the night. overall, i would go there again for my stay in kuala lumpur because of the price, staff and comfortable room :-)

Stylish room design away from hustle & bustle”

hardwood floors, fun shower, good staff

It was my first time to Kuala Lumpur so my partner and I didn't know where to stay. Frenz hotel was a great place to land and a great place to stay for 3 nights. Its location was convenient enough to get from place to place because taxis are not expensive in KL (as long as you take a metered one). We ended up enjoying our hotel room so much that we stayed in one night just because we wanted to enjoy the soft bed and nice shower and watch a soccer match on TV. Very nice design to the room made the small space feel cozy and exciting at the same time. Recently we stayed in Singapore for one night in a hotel that cost twice as much but was half as nice. Therefore, my stay at Frenz felt like a great deal!

Generous sized room for the Deluxe category”

bigger room than the superior but only one stool to be shared by two people!

we booked both the superior and deluxe room during our last stay in frenz hotel. we much prefer the deluxe room because it is roomier. at least you don't have to walk sideways to go to the bathroom! the hotel provided the basic amenities that's available in 5-star hotels like a kettle, fridge, ironing board etc. so, kudos for that! but, the fridge is still way tiny to put anything much inside without taking the middle rack off. we love the fact that there is a small pull-away table for us to eat our packed food in the room. unfortunately, there is only one stool to be shared by two people in the room. so, if you are eating with your family in the slightly bigger deluxe room, you either have to sit on the bed or the floor to finish your meal. so, still not very comfortable. wish they would provide 2 stools in there instead of just one. all in all, the deluxe category is more comfortable if you have elderly folks or young kids traveling with you. just make sure you bring enough toys to occupy the kids or they will be heard through the thin walls down the corridor!

Very nice little hotel in a great location”

Clean, affordable, professional

Frenz Hotel is a really well done 3-star hotel. It gets the basics down very well, and keeps prices low by not having a lot of extras. Everything was clean, comfortable and seemed new, although there are not luxuries such as room service or a grand entrance. I would definitely suggest it for budget minded travelers, including families. Pros: Very clean rooms Feels safe Free wifi, good signal Cable TV Good location, very close to the subway and Merdeka Square Nice bathrooms Comfortable bed Professional, friendly staff Complementary water, tea, instant coffee Cons: Rooms are just a bit on the small side You need to go out or order delivery for food

Best hotel in KL ever”

Location, Cleanliness and Comfort

this is my 3rd time staying in Frenz. loved the location due to the night market just at the back of the hotel on every Sat night. the shopping is great for me around the area too as i can find books, tudungs, shawls, malay costumes easily at one of the many many shops around the hotel. breakfast is simple and served at the Zam-zam restaurant. the outlook of the hotel can be deceiving but the rooms are newly-renovated which are clean and comfortable. though its small in size, there's enough space for me to perform my prayers. Frenz have connecting rooms for those travelling with children. Staff were friendly and the bellman will readily help you to hail a cab. will definitely come back to this hotel whenever i am in KL.

Comfort served with a smile after a long day!”

Comfortable bed, cozy features, working safe and clean. Not to mention the lovely staff.

Although it doesn't seem like much when your battered taxi pulls up at the door to the Frenz Hotel, the experience we had was the best compared to the Bayview hotel in Penang Georgetown. We had a pleasant sleep every night, and enjoyed genuine smile each time we communicated with the staff. The room isn't very big at all, neither is the hotel in general but I rate this 5 stars for value for money and comfort. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of space in the room to fully unload your luggage - so I guess it made sure we keep our things extra tidy. It's also only 5 minutes away from the train station so it's easy to get around. All up - we had no regrets at the Frenz Hotel and would most definitely recommend to others

Perfect for a city pit stop”

Good location, modern rooms with comfy bed!

Enjoyed our stay at Frenz. Good location in Little India, 10-15 minute walk from the Skytrain. Newish hotel so everything's seems modern and clean. Room pretty small & bathroom tiny but had everything you need for a few nights stay (we stayed 3) Really comfy bed, good AC and also wifi access in the room. Space seems of the essence in this hotel so no public areas, bar or restaurant but it's got a big Indian cafe/restaurant next door where it's easy to get food and drinks and the hotel also doesn't mind you taking food in and even provides takeaway food information! Staff were helpful, we arrived on the train from Penang at 7am so were hoping we could check in early. Unfortunately not as the hotel was full but they did get us in at 12 instead of 2 which was great. All in all, good hotel in good location at a great price. Would recommend/stay again ourselves.

Superb Value for Money”

Great location, clean and neat, friendly service, well furnished.

i was expecting a clean hotel, since it is a relatively new one. and frenz hotel surely exceeded my expectations. check-in was a breeze, and we got the connecting rooms we asked for. apart from the fact that the rooms are not exactly sound-proof, everything else was excellent. clean, neat, and well furnished. the staffs speak good english, and friendly. when we asked to make-up our room in our absence, they did it generously. upon our return, not only were the room tidied and the towels replaced, they even folded our clothes and tidied up our dressing table! excellent value. very very near the rapid kl line, and there is good food (from cheap naan to subway to nandos) nearby.

Staff Attentive and Helpful, Great Advice, Spotless, Spacious Room

I really felt like I was splurging on a nice hotel with Frenz Hotel. Staff always went above and beyond, even remembering you and your plans. Modern and new hotel, and small enough to be very personal in interaction. The room was large and spacious, with fast, free in internet. Although when the desk is open, as with a laptop set up on it, a light wants to stay on all night, you can fix this easily by leaning a book against the device that sense the desk being closed. Without their great advice, I would not have done everything I did, such as by knowing about a $30 USD hour Segway tour that can be done of the vast jungle garden parks with lakes near the Bird Park and Natinonal and Islamic Museums. The breakfast buffet was also nice at their restaurant with a mix of local, Indian, and Western foods.
