I had a very pleasant stay. The hotel and staff are exactly what they claim to be- friendly. The front desk is very attentive and eager to help you book travel. They offer fair and competitive prices without trying to rip you off. If you find a cheaper price somewhere else, they will match it and arrange for pickup at the hostel. There were also a couple of times where I booked a trip that would arrive to Hanoi very early morning and my next trip would leave same day but very late afternoon. When discussing the booking with the hostel, they offered me a shower room and bed to rest for a couple of hours without charging me a nights stay. WOW! NICE! There are a lot of local restaurants and cafes right outside the hostel. If you are looking for bars or western style restaurants there are plenty within a 5 minute walk. If you are looking to exchange USD- the front desk gave me the same rate as the bank. I was most impressed when the front desk needed to return money to me (I will spare you the long story) but we didn't have the correct amount in bills- so we both agreed they could give it to me later that day after they went to the bank. Of course this slipped my mind and I checked out without collecting my cash. I was really bummed because I figured I would never see that money. When I arrived at my next city, I contacted Friendly Backpackers and without hassle, they offered to send me the owed money through the receptionist at my hostel in Hue. Overall I was very satisfied with my stay- its a basic place without bells and whistles, but very accommodating to its customers. The beds are clean and sheets are changed between customers. The bathrooms get dirty very easily because there are 6 people to 1 room. The only downside is that it doesn't seem like the bathrooms are cleaned daily. But when I asked the front desk to have the bathroom cleaned- it was serviced right away. I would stay here again if I were to return to Hanoi.

friendly staffs, very clean and comforatable dorms”
dorms very clean,very attentive staffs.there are some computers for free at lobby to use and free wifi as well. Restaurant on 4th with breads,milk, tea and coffee and you can ask for more. Hostel Friendly got a very super location in Hanoi old quarter. just take me about 3 minutes to Hoan Kiem lake. too many attractions nearby and staffs will recommend you many things to do.

Very nice place to stay ”
staff actually found us wandering around looking for the hotel, or probably they were trying to get any backpackers into their hostel. anyway, location was good, nearby to hoem kiam lake, the old quarters, with convenience stores, food outlets and others. dorms are average but comfy, and bathroom was acceptable with good hot water. free wifi from the opposite hotel (same owner). the staffs were honest and very helpful, giving us directions and helping us with calling the taxi. i would definitely recommend it to my friends. :)

Great location and excellent travel desk”
Stayed here for two nights and also booked trips to Halong Bay and Sapa. They let me keep my large bag in storage for each trip, take showers in the time in between and after they gave me breakfast on the morning I came back. Great location in old city, easy to walk to any attraction in Hanoi proper. Rooms are normal six-share, typical backpackers.

Friendly Hostel Staff”
The staff was very friendly, especially Ngoc who is a young lady at the reception counter during the day. She would explain to you in details regarding the tourist attraction and how to go there. This hostel was unlike other hostel because they wouldn't give any attitude or showing unhappy if you don't buy any tour from them. Instead, they would help you to find the best price in the town.

This is a very nice small hostel to stay. The rooms were clean, with 6 beds and an own bathroom. Staff was really helpful and friendly. Rooms are quite cheap. Breakfast is included - and you was really fine. Hostel is located near to the town center. Would recommand the Hostel to everyone who's searching for a cheap and comfortable room.

The thing I liked the most about this hostel was the friendly staff, they will help you in whatever way they can. Also, the dorm was very clean, the bathroom was a bit small but manageable. Great place to stay for backpackers!

Only 5USD per night, worth the money”
Great location in old city, easy to walk to any attraction in Hanoi proper. Rooms are normal six-share, typical backpackers. Good place for those people on tight budget, buffet breakfast from 7:00 AM - 9:30 AM only. Free internet, free wifi (very fast) free towel.... hot shower and clean atmosphere.

Nice place, just not amazing during Tet”
Pearl was super nice. Dorms were up several flights of narrow stairs, so if you have knee problems, reconsider. But gives you a good view of the street. They had other staff on during Tet (because everyone deserves a break!) who barely spoke English, and the hot water broke and they couldn't fix it during Tet (but they definitely have hot water, because it started working again the day I left!). The location is really good. Just on the outskirts of Old Town, so really easy to find locally priced delicious food, but close enough to it so you can see it very easily. Also, lots of tour buses will pick you up from outside the hostel, even the big buses going south. One thing I would mention is that if you are on a small budget, shop around for tours. While I loved the one they sold me for Halong Bay, it was $US115, and you can get way cheaper tours than that. WiFi in the Dorms is good enough for YouTube and I had an hour and a half video Skype talk with no drop outs. Beds are quite soft and I loved them, but if you prefer hard beds, it's not for you. Overall I enjoyed my stay, and would recommend it.

ok place in middle of old quarter”
I arrived at the hostel, but apparently they only have dorms. the private rooms are in a hotel with another name from across the road. it was a bit weird and dodgy but the attendant said they have the same owner. up I go the winding staircase to the fourth floor( I don't think they have elevators) but luckily the receptionist at this hotel help me carry my luggage. the room was comfortable and the bathroom was clean enough. for some reason the free soap and shampoo was in the sink. free breakfast buffet was alright. good for shot stay as the old quarter can be very noisy.

Good for the price”
we spent $5 each per night for a bed in one of the dorms, staying for four nights, and were satisfied with our stay. the stairway in built for really small people, but the room was big enough, and nice and cool. the bathroom was tiny, but not too tiny. the complimentary breakfast consisted of rice, noodles, eggs, ham, cucumbers, some sort of fried pastry, and hunks of baguette, with butter and jam. also coffee or tea. for some reason we had to eat it across the street at another ho(s)tel (same owners) on two days, and on the fifth floor on two other days. everything was clean enough, though certainly not sparkling. the girl who works the desk during the day is very helpful and friendly, while the guy who works it at night is usually not there. he hangs out across the street and occasionally runs in if he sees you standing in the lobby. also, we got our laundry done here for about $1/kg. overall, well worth the price.

Decent rooms for a hostel, nice staff”
it was freezing in hanoi when i went and the dorms were a tad cold but the room was really nice, the bed was clean and looked quite new, the ceilings had been painted with nice artwork and the lockers were big for all of your stuff. the staff were very helpful. breakfast was lovely, eat as much as you like!

Friendly and well information staff, but staircase and bathroom was very narrow and small. Do not go out after 12mn, is total not safe at this area of old quarter. But stay inside the hostel is very safe.

I like to stay here. i stayed at mixed dormitory room with 6 beds. it's clean room, good strength wifi and helpful staff. some travelers are come and go. they even keep their bag in this hostel while traveling to other city. breakfast is good as well.

Overall, it's great place to stay for traveler”
We booked for 3 people for 3 nights. We liked how staffs were being very helpful with smile. They will suggest any interesting places near here and any kind questions that you ask to. The location is not far from Old Quarter center and Long Bien bus stop (to Noi Bai airport). Cleanliness is fair enough for traveler

Nice location and friendly, clean and serviced ”
Friendly backpackers was a good place to stay. They were very friendly and helpful. The only negatives were that the wifi was down the whole time and the breakfast was terrible. Other than than it was a great place for a few nights stay. They do provide fresh clean towels everyday though as well as toothbrushes, soap and shampoo which most dont.

Great location and service with a nice smile”
Well, the bed is clean and soft. The light next to the bed helps a lot, and with good location, the price it's perfect. The staff there helps a lot, and always with shining smile. If there must be something not that satisfied with, it's the bathroom, a little bit small and without window. Anyway, with this location and service and price, must be the BEST choice!
