we loved this place! the staff were extremely friendly and the outdoor onsen was fantastic. we wished we could've stayed one more night. plus, we were very pleased to meet LAITO the neighbourhood dachshund, who made our stay complete! ^_^
Great value stay!!”
I chose this place because I wear tattoos (japanese manners are very restrictive with them) and i could use the hot spring water without problems. The guesthouse is very comfortable (big spaced rooms and really clean). The owners are extremely nice and helpful (good english skills!!). Me and my partner could have a very relaxing and pleasant stay and we hope to go back in a near future. Thanks!!
Easy Access, Friendly Staff, Clean & Value for money”
we were there for one night stay, its a very clean and quiet guest house with helpful & friendly staff giving us accurate guidance on how and where to go with the Hakone Free Pass . Private onsen is a big bonus for this guest house which you can enjoy the free Half-an hour onsen for each room . Outdoor onsen is available upon reservation . It fairly easy to get around with buses as there areb us stops right outside the guest house. Convenient store is just 5 minutes walk away , glass museum just 3 minutes walk next to the guest house . Free tea for guests and comfortable futon to sleep in. We did not book for the breakfast for our stay as we decided to get up late the next day . Will definitely recommend this place for travellers who are planning to stay in Hakone Area.
i will be back”
we stay over for 1 night. Onwer is very approachable, she answer my questions patiently even help me to book time-slot for our hotspring session prior to our arrival. This guesshouse is very clean and very comfortable.indoor (private) and outdoor hotsprint definitely more than a bonus. bus station is just outside of this guest house, probably 5mins or less walking distance. i know i will be back again :)
Perfect guest house in Hakone”
Our stay was perfect. There were 5 of us, split into a room of 3 and a couple in another room. the staff speak English, which is great, and they were very accommodating. It felt like visiting a relative in the province in terms of warmth and hospitality. Location is good, I guess, as the bus stop is within a 2-3 minute walk from the house. We did not try the breakfast (bec it was Western--would've been a different story if the offering was Japanese breakfast) but there's a convenience store nearby (Lawson) where you can buy treats/snacks that you'd normally find in 7-11 or Family Mart. This is the perfect place if you wish to spend the night in Hakone!
Lovely room with big fluffy comforters, staff recommended a nearby temple that was magical with hundreds of statues in the woods. Town had several good restaurants. Bus stop on the corner gave easy access to sights in the Hakone area.
Awesome guest house”
The rooms were clean and well equipped. you can also book a private 30 minutes onsen session both outdoors and indoors. Has all the amenities to make a quick meal, do your laundry and very comfortable rooms. Wifi available through out
Nice cozy and affordable place”
Very friendly staff. Explained everything in details. Bus stop is just right outside the place. Private indoor onsen can be booked each day!
I spent one night at Fuji-Hakone with 2 friends. The facilities were beautiful and the experience was very peaceful. Fuji-Hakone has 2 private onsen, one indoor (free to use) and one outdoor (¥500). The hosts very generously had already reserved time in the onsen for us, which we really appreciated.
What a peaceful and friendly place to stay!”
For the short time that we were there we had an absolutely amazing time there. From the private onsen to wearing yukata and comfortable bed with the option of a heater for cold weather. If you need a place to stay to get away from the city life, this is the place to stay!
Super helpful English-speaking staff who took care of us like relatives. ”
We enjoyed the Fuji-Hakone Guest House. The staff was pleasant even though the facilities were simple. I enjoyed staying here, even knowing the facilities didn’t have central heating and there were community bathrooms and kitchen areas. It was a great experience. The beds were clean and the staff was very helpful. I loved their proposed schedule of travel for the day. They helped us plan the timing of our touring and have enough time to visit the Yunesson. When leaving, I asked the inn keeper that we wanted to take a direct bus to Shinjuku station and she even called for a reservation. No need to go back to Odowara! The luxury bus picked us up from the bus stop right outside their Fuji-hakone Guest house and no fuss with luggage on the community bus only 1900 Yen. We had friends who stayed here 25 years ago and based on her suggestion, we returned on her behalf. No regrets! We met some English speaking visitors who mentioned they stayed up the road for $1200 per night.
This guesthouse gave me the Japanese experience that I was seeking for with its traditional rooms and onsen! We slept like babies in the futon and the outdoor private onsen (for an additional fee) is one to remember. Its a little far off from the main train station (a good 30 mins away) and each place of attraction is not of walking distance (you would have to take a bus. Do consider getting the Hakone Free pass as individual bus tickets are pricey). Breakfast (of toast, cereal and fruits) was ok but expensive for its price. If you're not able to have the outdoor onsen, do try the indoor ones in the morning. Its quite beautiful in the morning with the light filling in.
This is my 2nd time staying at Fuji Hakone Guest House, all is perfect like before. For you who looking for private onsen with affordable price, this guest house is highly recommended. The staff also very helpful and give us a lot of recommendation to do while we were visiting Hakone.
Very nice experience”
The House is old but cozy and clean. Bustop is just in front. Staff is friendly and willing to give advise and guide for you. You can have free 30' private indoor onsen, although it's not great compare to outdoor or you can take bus to Yunessun resort to enjoy greentea, sake, coffee and collagen bath. Walking distance to a few restaurants nearby, not so many choice though. There's a Lawson where you can buy food too. The neighbourhood is peaceful. Overall is a great deal for economy trip.
Best experience ever”
I absolutely loved everything about the Guest House - perfect location, all the workers are very friendly and ready to help anytime. Also, it's very convenient to have onsen right in the guest house, so you can go straight to your room after it. The futon was very comfortable. I miss my Nikko room!!!!!!!!!! Would recommend Fuji-Hakone Guest House to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Accessible but Expensive”
House is very accessible and only a minute walk to the bus station (going to various tourist spots in Hakone). However, we find it too expensive for a place with: No breakfast included (very basic breakfast offered for a fee which only includes 2 types of cereals, boiled egg, slices of bread, banana, and apple), I was expecting to have at least a traditional Japanese breakfast experience, but there was none. Shared toilet and private onsen by appointment (only 45 mins allowed so we weren't able to relax at all as there were many guests already booked that night. Strict on Early check-out. We arrived past 9pm as it took us 4 straight hours to get there from Tokyo Station. All our things were packed by 10 am but opted to double-check the entire room before leaving, as we have 2 small kids and an infant with us. Just before checkout, me and my 7 yr-old daughter went to the toilet and as soon as we got out, the lady (who was really nice when we checked-in) frowned and pointed to her watch and told us to hurry up as it was already 10:07 am. So without even fixing my baby's shoes, we hurriedly grabbed all our things (1 large luggage, baby carrier, and a back pack) and went to the front door. This was the first time we've experienced being rushed that way (not to mention a very early check-out) in all hotels we've stayed, from 3-star to 5-star ones. Overall, the home is clean and nice (and the owner is very accommodating) but I prefer staying to a different house or hotel in Hakone area for that price. There are lots of hotels/inns we saw on roadside and hopefully Agoda can also process booking for them so travelers have better options.
Great accomodation, nice location and accomodating staff”
We had a wonderful stay at fuji-hakone guesthouse. Location: near and walking distance from senkyoro-mae bus stop via hakone tozan bus T from Odawara or hakone-yumoto. Bus has english and tourist friendly even if you have big luggages. There's restaurant and convenience store near the place as well. Staff: owner can converse in good english. Upon check in she's kind enough to ask us where we want to go and guide us how and directions. Answer all questions perfectly Price: for the price and considering it's a ryokan the price is really affordable Place and room: the room for couple or 2 is big enough for japan standard. We had really warm and nice bed to sleep after a whole day of walk. Heater helps a lot. Wifi is also 👍. Fast and always available all over the place. You can also buy food outside and eat them in the dinning area or in the room. Onsen: we love the onsen of the guesthose, have indoor and outdoor onsen. The time and schedule is well organized for everyone.
Beautiful location and friendly staff! ”
This place has really good facilities including an onsen (private!) and cooking facilities. The bus stop is a minutes walk and has direct routes to Gora park and Lake Ashi. A convenient store is just down the road, with a couple of restaurants close by. I would recommend getting the Hakone free pass as the cost to the accommodation is ¥1050 (pass is ¥4000) Only negative is the walls are very thin making the place a little noisy at times!
Hostel style onsen”
Decent hostel style onsen -- the stove takes coins, outdoor onsen is additional 500 yen. Indoor onsen is free but you must go at your assigned time. While our room was fine, clean and well equipped, it's definitely not a resort. However, it is a good base from which to explore Hakone.
We stayed for one night only but it was so lovely and comfortable! Very nice staff that explained everything so well and advised about the area. The private onsen was the most relaxing part of our trip to Japan, would be very happy to go back there anytime :)
