Perfect ryokan to get engaged! ”
This is the nicest hotel I've ever stayed at. The room was so beautiful! The futons were comfortable too. We came here with intention of seeing Fuji-san, but it was too foggy. The view of the lake was still quite beautiful, even in the rain. Our package included breakfast and was super tasty. It was really fun to walk around with my fiance in yukata. I would highly recommend the onsen! I was allowed in even though I had tattoos (I have two the size of my palm), but I still waited until night time just in case (it was open all night long). If you didn't order dinner, they have a shuttle that can take you to a few restaurants they recommend. We had a wonderful time and would book again if we're back in Kawaguchiko.

Great view from the Lake view rooms”
Fantastic view from the Lake view rooms. Cosy lobby and common area. Staff are very friendly. Great location to the sight seeing cruise and ropeway train. Short walk to the station. However, walking uphill to the hotel could be challenging with luggage. Better use the hotel shuttle service during the service hours. Dinner and breakfast are both very nice. Good experience with the Japanese style rooms.

Exceptional”
The staff were helpful and nice. The room was a traditional tatami room which looked very nice. If you choose a room with a private bath, the bath was not hotspring but it looked very nice especially with the wide open windows to the lake. This ryokan or my room did not have a Mt Fuji view, but it does not matter, as if the weather is bad, you cannot see it anyway. If the weather is right, you can see Mt Fuji pretty much everywhere from the town.

Best ryokan”
Stayed two nights and love it! Great service, yummy breakfast and dinner. Room 308 has fantastic view of the lake. Surrounding area is lovely - Mount Fuji and autumn leaves @ Maple corridor. I am especially impressed with the help rendered by reception when I told them my friend is having sore throat. Strongly recommend! 10/10

Really excellent staff and shuttle bus driver”
The location is really nice, just beside a ropeway station. The shuttle bus can be requested by a phone call (no fixed schedule). The hotel staff and the shuttle bus driver was really excellent in helping us catching a bus to Tokyo. Without their help, we might not be able to ride the bus on time.

Beautiful Ryokan hotel with excellent onsen”
The hotel has a very beautiful and spacious Ryokan rooms with view to lake Kawaguchiko. The hotel's public as well as private onsen (hot springs) are excellent and one of the best we had been to. Staff was very friendly, professional and helpful. Highly recommended.

Pros: amazing ryokan with great views, friendly staff and fantastic onsen! We enjoyed the traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast and the futons were the most comfortable ever experienced! We booked the private onsen for a little extra but really enjoyed it. Great location, just a bit of a walk up and down the steep hill to the ryokan but had a spectacular view! They also provide a free shuttle bus to and from the station. Cons: warning it is a massive hill to climb to get to the ryokan so be prepared.

Best service hands down!”
We stayed in two ryokans/hotels in the same week in Kawaguchiko. The other one (La Vista) was also great, BUT Rakuyu went beyond and above our expectations in terms of service. From the welcome staff, to the attendants, drivers, and the bilingual personnel who surpassed answering our questions; they all were not only friendly, but very much accommodating! This hotel is much less commercial than others that deal with multiple times the amount of guests. There is much more personalized service and familiarity. It’s not completely modern or new, but it’s very clean and has many updated and modern features. We stayed in a “more than 7 years old” room. It had beautiful views of the lake, very clean, had several updated features/machines. I kept looking for the thermostat in the walls to increase the temperature a bit, and I couldn’t find it. For a moment, I was afraid we couldn’t control the temperature in our room. I called the service line, and the bilingual attendant was immediately at my door. He showed me how to control the heat through the remote control (duh! I’m in Japan!!!). Just a little example of some of the more modern features of this more traditional hotel. Thank YOU to all the Rakuyu personnel who made our stay very special!

Great Ryokan perched on a hilltop”
A great Ryokan if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle around Lake Kawaguchiko. The main lobby or waiting area is a great place to chill and have a great overview of the lake. Very nice rustic vibes but immensely comfortable place to be. We had a room booked with a private Ryokan and it was a fantastic experience. Rooms were very clean and no presence of any musky smell. The staff were very helpful as well and we were thoroughly impressed with the safety precautions (an email reminder regarding driving safety and your estimated time of arrival will be sent to you a week or 2 before) if you intend to drive, as the slopes leading up to the ryokan hotel can be slippery. The staff would also offer to drive your car to the bottom of the slope at night and drive it back up the next day to avoid inexperienced drivers driving on slippery winter slopes. Very well located near restaurants and dessert joints around the lake.

Beautiful and lovely place ”
We truly enjoyed our stay in Rakuyu. Mainly for these reasons: - excellent location and beautiful view over looking the Kawaguchiko Lake. - it’s also Very near to Kawaguchiko station. - provides shuttle from Kawaguchiko station to hotel (except for 11am-2pm) - provides free coffee/tea and snacks from 2pm onwards daily (only to be consumed at the lobby) - good selections and it’s tasty for their breakfast and dinner - Kaseki menu - provides (on loan only) Yukata (a light cotton kimono) for guests throughout the stay to be used in lobby, dining area and public bath - very relaxing environment - walking distance to other eateries and convenient store - next to the Ropeway, Sightseeing boat and bus stops (Mt Fuji Excursion) - public and private baths are avail. For private there’s additional charges The hotel’s rooms are pretty dated. Bathtub in my room is old and the bottom is damaged but the room doesn’t have any moldy smell at all! It’s clean and has an amazing view. We will definitely come back to stay when we go back to Kawaguchiko.

Room is really amazing with the private onsen tub”
Room is amazing, staff is really friendly. The only downside is the super steep slope that you need to climb to get to the hotel. However overall it’s an amazing stay.

Highly Recommended!”
The photos of the property do not do it justice at all! Superb value for money! You dont need to book a room with an in room onsen, you can book a private onsen for 45mins use for about 2000 yen. The view of the lake is amazing, and the fire place is a cozy touch. I definitely recommend to book for dinner and breakfast! Do take advantage of their shuttle service from Kawaguchiko station, as the hotel is located on top of a steep hill. The only downside to this place is they are quite strict on check out time, and will not budge on requests.

The place is clean and staff were very friendly. Only issue was Agoda did not make it clear that our booking did not include dinner as well, only stated that breakfast was not included. However, surrounding restaurants are quite nice for dinner.

Great Japanese Hotel next to Lake Kawaguchi”
Booked one night staying in this Japanese style hotel. Hotel room is Japanese style with tatami, it’s comfortable while you can enjoy the style of traditional Japanese room with gorgeous lake view. The hotel located in a hill, around 5 mins walk, but the path is really steep, if you have luggage, I suggest you to take taxi. However, hotel provided shuttle service from the station to hotel, you can give them a call to arrange the ride, they will come pick you up in 10 mins. Please remember the shuttle service have specific service time, please check with the hotel. Hotel staff is very helpful, friendly and kind, they are also good at English, easy to communicate. Hotel offer public hot spring with the view of Lake Kawaguchi. They also offer a private hot spring for $3000yen 45 mins. Please reserve earlier if possible. Hotel also offer Japanese style breakfast and dinner. Overall we enjoyed the time in here, highly recommend.
