Absolutely lovely, restful, and will be returning”

The service was great, rooms were clean and quite large, and meals were very yummy

I brought along my family of five to stay at Yumedono, we had two rooms. The rooms were lovely and clean. Though no one in my family could understand Japanese, the staff were very helpful and tried their best to translate using minimal English and many gestures. There was one lady who was energetic and lively and probably was the most memorable part of our experience. Dinner was lovely. Though I do not know what the standards are for kaiseki meals, both dinner and breakfast at Yumedono were very satisfactory. Furthermore, they prepared a table in their dinning room, which was quite private, for my family because the five of us wanted to eat dinner together (however this I also arranged before hand). We were lucky to have good weather during our stay at Yumedono, however, bad weather could have really put a damper on the whole experience especially because of the private outdoor onsen, which was very relaxing. Furthermore, the shower area and indoor bath is quite small, given the fact that there is a private outdoor onsen. Lastly, I will comment on its location. Yumedono is quite close to Mt. Fuji and very close to Kawaguchiko as well as Kawaguchiko station (under 10 min car ride). However, because Mt. Fuji is also quite far from the large cities and main train hubs that have the shinkansen (bullet train), it took my family and me practically half a day to get to Kyoto (our next destination). Nevertheless, I informed Yumedono of our itinerary, which involved eating breakfast at their earliest avaliable time (8am), eating quickly, and arranging for transportation for all five of us and our luggage to Kawaguchiko station by 8:40AM. Because I contacted Yumedono before our arrival they arranged for a complimentary car to the train station and got us to the station by 8:35am!

This was honestly one of the coolest experiences of my life. Our room was absolutely breathtaking. The staff was beyond wonderful. Our meals were perfect. After our two weeks in Japan, Fuji Onsenji Yumedono was easily the highlight of the trip. I can tell you if we ever come back, we'll spend more than a night here.

Superb ryokan with private onsen”

My family and I were simply wowed and won over by the friendliness and quality of service by everyone at Fuji Onsenji Yumedono. The private onsen was so relaxing and worth every cent! The breakfast spread was top notch. We simply cannot fault this little slice of paradise. Arigato gozaimasou! :)

Great ryokan experience!”

We loved our stay! Staff is very attentive and our hostess was very nice. They provide transport from the train station on day of arrival and back to the station for departure (must request beforehand), which is a nice touch as station is a little far. Room was super clean and comfortable, private onsen is amazing, and the Japanese breakfast was simply unbelievable! The only downside is that it is quite far from other restaurants, but since the weather was so nice we walked around and explored the Kawaguchiko lakeshore area and tiny streets around. Thanks Onsenji Yumedono for a great stay!

Beautiful, relaxing getaway ”

Unfortunately the day we booked for was very cloudy so we did not get to see mt Fuji, which was the main reason we picked Kawaguchiko! However, this didn't put a damper on our stay as we had an amazing and very relaxing time at Onsenji. We didn't have the dinner service, but picked up some food from the Lawson convenience store right next to the hotel and had our own little feast at the Kotatsu. The Onsen bath is very hot, but so relaxing. The room is extremely clean and comfortable. Every last detail seems well thought out and purposeful. The bed is very firm but the pillows and blankets are super light and comfortable. The hotel is very close to the lake and about a 15 minute walk from the station. But they offered a free taxi to the station in the morning when we checked out. The breakfast was a huge and beautifully presented feast. I felt bad that I was not able to finish it all, but would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys traditional Japanese food. Thank you Onsenji!

Beyond belief...fabulous!”

We went to Onsenji Yumedono to treat ourselves and to get away from hectic Tokyo during a trip with my BFFs. Everything was beyond expectation: facility (beautiful), food (if you like Japanese cuisine - the breakfast and dinner is a must! Superb! ), and staff - all fabulous. It was a heavenly experience! We wish we could have stayed longer.

Love the place! ”

Every single room comes with private bath, which we loved very much. Love the design of the room, everything is nicely done. Clean & neat. Location: Very convenient, few bus stops away from the station and 5 mins walk to lake kawaguchiko (where u see the mount Fuji & its reflection on the lake). But sadly, during our stay there, we didn't get to see the clear view of mount Fuji, but overall was still excellent. Bedding: Bedding was done nicely at about 5PM thereafter. Breakfast: Breakfast prepared at 8AM and brought into the room. there is a door that separates that place where we sleep and where we were going to eat our breakfast. So there is privacy even if we woke up late. Breakfast was delicious and we regretted not having the dinner at the Ryokan itself. Will definitely be back if we have the chance!

Amazing Private Onsen in the Room”

Private Onsen, Great Breakfast & Dinner

There is a indoor onsen, and a private outdoor onsen for your room. You and your family can enjoy the onsen together. Most of the onsen hotel will separate male/female, and the outdoor onsen normally do not allow kids to go. So, this private Onsen is just perfect for the entire family. The Breakfast & Dinner is great. A bit too much, I think, but the food is great! The Ryokan staff although does not understand too much of English, but they are very friendly and always trying to help out. There is a hotel transportation, that can sent you to the train station. Just a few minutes walk, you will see Mt. Fuji. I think from the public Onsen room, you can see that too.

Fantastic!”

Quiet, exclusive, private hot spring pool, big room, wonderful service, great food!

If you want to experience staying in a traditional Ryokan, this is the one! It is expensive though but worth every penny! At least you can soak in the hot spring as and when you like and get a kaiseki multi course dinner and breakfast! We only stayed 1 night in the traditonal Japanese style room but it was good enough There are only a few rooms with the private onsen and they are located in a separate area from the rest of the hotel with a side entrance to the main road. The hotel does not have a view of Mt Fuji but you don't have to go very far, just step out onto the main road, cross over to the opposite side, walk 100m and look back and you will see the magnificent mountain (if it's clear). It was raining when we arrived but got a fabulous view in the morning. It is truly breath taking! The food is very very good and the lady who took care of us tried her best to communicate even though she spoke very little English.

Accommodation for the ultimate relaxation”

Staff professionalism, cleanliness, onsen!

Great ryokan here at Kawaguchiko. Even though there is not direct view of Mt Fuji, this is the place where you will be able to have the ultimate relaxation and private onsen experience! Jump into the onsen anytime you please and then rest in their huge 'rooms'! Select their dinner and breakfast options and you will never need to leave! Had the Presidential Suite for a couple of nights and it makes me feel army home with the large bedroom, separate lounge room and loft. With 200m-square space, you will certainly feel spoilt and never want to leave!

Amazing Onsen with private hot spring”

Fantastic food, service and room

i was there in july 2011 with my wife and 4 year old son. an amazing experience, we were welcomed even though we arrived at 1.45 pm before the official check in time of 3pm. upon arrival at kawaguchiko station and informing the tourist office, the pick up vehicle arrived in 5 minutes. the driver was v friendly and spoke rather good english!. the rooms were amazing, (we went for the biggest room with private hot spring) spotlesslly clean and the fridge stored with all kinds of drinks at no extra charge. the onsen was worth the visit alone, and we used it no end, in the afternoon, evening and morning. dinner was amazing, kind of kaiseki but in my opinion even better as they were preparing for only one family. note that this hotel is v punctual so its important to return the gesture by turning up for meals punctually. the only not so good thing is the public onsens which as i understand is open for non-guests as well, making it very crowded and relatively less clean. but it is not a bad point, just overcrowded and this is mainly made up of naked men or women.all in all, a fantastic memorable experience, great stop if you want to go mount fuji or the mt fuji version disneyland called fujiq. its not cheap though!

Great place to stay; wish we could’ve stayed longer”

We stayed for one night in the exexutive suite. Pros: luxurious room, very well put together, love the traditional ryokan decor; we had our own private hot bath and Japanese style garden; the ryokan overall was nicely designed; traditional breakfast was delicious and generous; staff were very friendly and helpful. Cons: the ryokan is a fair walk (about 15 minutes) from Kawaguchiko station along small roads with narrow and sometimes non-existent sidewalks, so dragging your luggage can be a challenge - recommend taking a cab from the station; otherwise the hotel has a shuttle service that runs at limited times (we were told past 12pm); it’s a ryokan so don’t expect a hotel swimming pool or gym; generally not cheap, but we thought it was worth it, and wish we could’ve stayed for longer.

The staff were amazing! The food was amazing! The room was amazing! The onsen was amazing! The pick up service was amazing! Everthing was amazing! The one way you will truly know how amazing yumedono is, is if you go and visit yourself! if you have the time and money is an absolute must. If you are planning on staying in the area you must spend at least one night here and make sure you have the evening meal when you do - it seems like a lot of money but it worth every penny! it was a great experience! Definitely worth the price. We've been trying to find a traditional Japanese hotel with private outdoor hot spring. This hotel is within reasonable price range (compared to a lot of other traditional Japanese hotels) with very good quality. Staff are very helpful although they don't speak much English. The dinner was traditional Japanese course type of dinner. (just a little too much. we were very very stuffed!) Breakfast was also great. The hot spring was clean and very relaxing. It is located by a bus stop so people can easily take the bus to the station or go to see the view of Mt. Fuji.

Brilliant experience”

We enjoyed the most wonderful time. The staff were extremely helpful and our room, with it's private spa, really made our stay quite exceptional. In addition, the food was brilliant! Master Chef Fuzimori is truly an artist. We thoroughly enjoyed our Yumedono Winter Dinner and would definitely stay here again.

The best hotel we've been to so far!”

I booked this room for my sister and her husband. They requested for a Ryokan after their hike to Mt. Fuji. They said this is the best hotel they've been to so far. Excellent service, everything is just perfect
