Great hotel with good facilities”

While we stayed at this hotel, most of the other guests were Japanese nationals, which we took to be a very good sign concerning the quality. The staff is able to speak English and was very helpful and friendly whenever we had a request or question. We had a simple yet cozy and clean Japanese style room and we could see the summit of Mt. Fuji if we looked sideways through our window. Both the breakfast and dinner at the hotel were traditional style and delicious. The hotel's hot springs were clean and comfortable and a great way to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel is located at the lakeside and there is a great view point to see Mt. Fuji with a part of the lake right across the road in front of the hotel. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the Kawaguchiko trainstation which is also the main starting point for all the sightseeing busses in the area. There is also a nice souvenir shop less then 5 mins down the road, just turn left in front of the hotel.

QUIET, GREAT VIEWS, NICE ONSEN, GOOD PRICE.”

They have rooms in two directions. One side faces a parking lot (still a good view) the other side faces mt. Fuji. We stayed in a room facing the parking lot as we didn't want to move during our stay which we extended twice. They offered us 3 times to move! Very kind of them. In general it is a nice place to stay with a window front in your room and a great onsen on the ground floor which most people use during night times. The bus stop is a 1 min walk on the lake side. From there you can take a direct bus to Aiokigahara Forest. Make sure to buy one of these combo tickets at the train station when you arrive in Kawaguchiko as the bus gets expensive for longer distances and it soon starts to sum up. The hotel picked us up at the station for free but you need to contact the tourist information at Kawaguchiko station to call them. The ropeway for a nice Fuji view is a 20 mins walk on the lakeside. The interiors of the hotel are old fashioned and the room was a bit cramped with tables.

Comfortable Stay”

Comfortable, Spacious, Peaceful

We booked this hotel as recommended by a friend. Sure enough, the room is spacious and clean, the tatami beds that we opted for are super comfortable. The hotel is location near the Retoro Bus Station and about 20 mins walk from the Kawaguchiko Station. Having data plan & goggle map, we chose to walk from Kawaguchiko Station to the hotel, which wasn't really bad after all. You can walk around the shop houses around the lake and you can find lots of souvenirs that you can buy. The hotel also provided us with dinner & breakfast, the dinner was sumptuous but we didn't really like the traditional Japanese breakfast. The onsen in the hotel is not exactly fanciful but it is free of charge with hotel stay. The hotel staff were also helpful in checking the opening time of the attractions for us. The only thing is that we were woken up by a playful spider in our room.

GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY IN THE AREA. NICE ONSEN. PICK UP AT THE STATION.”

The hotel looks quite nice from the outside. Inside you see that it could use a bit of a makeover. But it's not as bad at all as some other reviews say. We booked 2 nights & extended for another one. Room (415) had a nice view - not to mt. fuji as a hill blocks it. I think there are some sea view rooms available & we were offered to move twice but didn't take it due to laziness. Every day they had new towels, robes and toiletries ready for us - we only needed a towel though. The receptionists are very informative & have an answer to every question. They could remove one of the 3 tables in the room to gain some space. Bathroom is small - but a nice Onsen is included in the price. Sometimes some Mandarin talkers could shorten your relaxation due to loudness. The bus stop to Kawaguchiko station is 1 min walk. Buy 1 of these combo 2-day passes at the Kawaguchiko station as the rides could sum up fast. E.g. Aiokigahara forest costs around 1.300 Yen return. We had a very pleasant stay FRHK.

Close to Lake, nice Onsen ”

Staying here is a little like stepping back to the 80's, yes the hotel could do with modernising but I understand why they don't when they have the stunning beauty of Mt Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko on their doorstep! One area that doesn't need updating is the hotel Onsen which is a great facility at this hotel I highly recommend it especially after a full day of walking around the Lake. Nearest convenience store is a Lawson's about a 10-15 minute walk away.

Good location and facilities”

Nice and spacious Japanese type room. Hotel was located on the route of the red and green bus lines with the stops just outside the hotel. From the park just across the hotel, you get a fabulous view of Lake Kawaguchiko, framed by brightly coloured autumn trees with Mt Fuji as backdrop. Hotel has nice indoors and outdoors onsen and also a big carpark convenient for those self-driving.

lucky during off peak season”

I was lucky that it was off peak season and I got the dorm room all to myself. i don't know what the other reviewers were talking about. the place is clean. it's a bit old but it's all clean. the futon bed is also comfy! great view of mt fuji from the dorm room. the onsen was 100% the highlight of the place and the one that makes it great value. also got the onsen all to myself. really really nice. like what the other reviewers mentioned, i wish there was a private bathroom for the dorm rooms. if the place is full, it might not be a pleasant experience not having a bathroom upstairs. but if it's off peak, it's absolutely fine using the onsen as bathroom. there is a massage chair outside the onsen which was also great to use after. staff are friendly and helpful. only con: really strict with the check in time and you couldnt use the shower in the onsen (w/o charge) before check in time . i came from a night bus so that was a bit inconvenient

An amazing experience!”

1. Warm-hearted Service 2. Nice hot spring at an affordable price 3. Best dorm at traditional japanese room

It was an unforgettable experience even after 1.5 years since I traveled to Japan and stayed at this hotel for just one night. I am still really grateful for the staff, who mailed my eye glasses to me at Hong Kong for free. During my stay, I carelessly left my eye glasses at the hotel, and contacted the hotel for help. I proposed that they mailed my glasses to me and I'm willing to pay the parcel fee, but they offered their kind assistance and insist that they pay the fee. This kind of warm-hearted service surpasses what a 3-star hotel can offer! I was too busy to write a review in 2013, but this nice memory has been remaining in my mind always, and today I am glad to recommend it to my friend who is going to japan soon, and also recommend it to everybody on agoda. Plus, the great hot spring and clean traditional Japanese style room really worth the price! We were all amazed by what we got for that affordable price we paid. And this became the best part of my Japan trip. A extraordinary hotel! :)

peaceful, quite and relaxing”

large onsen, large room, large windows, separate toilet and bathroom

it was definitely value for money, because it is located in kawaguchiko and we had a bedroom with 2 large windows overlooking the lake. they come and tidy up the mattress (jap style) in the morning and come make it up for us again at 6.30pm. there's a free shuttle to/from kawaguchiko station. they have 3 large onsen and the outdoor one was fabulous. it was foggy and rained when we went so we stayed in the room most of the time and ended up walking up 15-20 min to find nearby restaurants/stores which did not trade within their own trading hours (they were shut!). the staff didnt speak much english but they were friendly and overall it was quite pleasant. by the way the hotel name is "Royal Hotel" without "Fuji" - our taxi driver got so lost driving us from kawaguchiko station and he ended up ringing the hotel

Onsen, Japanese-Style Room, Traditional Japanese Food!

The hotel was quite far from the train station but since they had pick-up and drop-off service, it was convenient. The staffs were courteous. The hotel is right next to the lake and the sightseeing bus stop is just 3 mins walk. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a view of the lake or fuji-san from our room. The best thing abt the hotel is the onsen. You can get in as many times as you like.

We booked this hotel and were asked to pay when we checked in. But to our surprise, we had to pay extra for hot spring bath, this is the hotel regulation regardless we use it or not ! I could not find this information at Agoda page, may be it is best to include this on the page. However, Hot Spring bath is a great experience. And we were happy able to see Mt Fuji from Kawaguchiko from one of the hop on hop off station.

No English signs. Arrived in a Taxi and had no idea it was the Hotel as there was no English sign, The room information was also in Japanese with No English version. Reception happily circled times of events (breakfast/Onsen)and advised what it was for. ONSEN, No one advised anywhere you had to be naked and separated sexes. I don't do public naked (even if you are in a same sex area), very disappointed I had to miss out on something I was looking forward to sharing with the Family. FOOD, Fantastic, Japanese style setup, more food than you can poke a chopstick at. We had Breakfast and Dinner for all days we stayed. The Staff in the dining area were so friendly and funny and a delight to have around. We especially liked the lady, She even stopped down the street one day and waved to us and had a quick chat. PROXIMITY, soooo close to everything. you can walk everywhere, The Snow and Fuji Q are a very quick cheap taxi ride away. View of Mt Fuji from the room was Magical.
