If you turn off the street where the inn is located, you will find the North Gate (Shouen Gate), which is close to the MET station for Taoyuan Airport and takes about 10 minutes to walk to the station building (you will need to walk a bit further to get to the ticket gate). The inn is not accessible from Ximen Station, so you need to go to Taipei Station and exit from the side of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Station Front Store. Then, with Taipei Station behind you, walk along Guanqian Road while looking to the left of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, turn right onto Kaifeng Street Section 1, and walk for about 8 minutes until you see "cama cafe Yanping Kaifeng Store" on the left corner. The entrance is between "Zhangjia Halal Beef Noodle Restaurant" and "Halal Huang Beef Noodle Restaurant". The English name is "Fun Inn Taipei" and the Chinese name is "瘋台北旅店". The front desk is on the second floor. The room was a women-only room on the sixth floor with six beds (two large and four small). Even the small beds were spacious. There was a sink, shower room, and toilet in the room, but a note was posted saying that the toilet, shower, and hair dryer should be used in the shared area outside the door between 23:00 and 8:00. However, it was noisy because someone was using them in the middle of the night. There is a locker near the entrance that can be opened with the room key, which is convenient for storing carry-on luggage. The futon and pillow are provided upon arrival. There is only one outlet per bed, and the bed light and charging will not work without pointing the room key at it. The living room with a kitchen requires going down to the basement floor via stairs after getting off the elevator on the first floor (there is also a shared refrigerator and paid washing and drying machines here). There are two convenience stores nearby, and there are many places to eat in the Ximen and Taipei Station areas. Check-out is completed by inserting the room key into the machine on the left side of the front desk.

I stayed in a mixed dorm room with 8 beds—4 double beds and 4 single beds—for three nights, and it was a great experience overall. I was traveling solo and appreciated the extra space with a double bed on the top bunk. Each bed had its own locker, and with a double, I had access to two spacious lockers, which were securely controlled by the room key card. The setup was very secure, with the card required twice—once to access the hallway and again to enter the room. The room was equipped with a humidifier, and the split-type aircon was new and effective, keeping the space cool and comfortable. The shared bathroom was spotless, with shampoo and body wash provided in the shower area, along with a shared hair dryer. Although there’s no eating allowed in the room to keep it clean, there’s a designated eating area in the basement, which I found reasonable. I found it convenient that there was a storage area for larger luggage, but since I had a duffel bag, I could easily fit it inside the locker beside my bed. For anyone arriving before check-in at 3 PM, the staff allows you to leave your things at the reception, which was a plus. For a solo traveler looking for a safe, comfortable place to stay, this hotel is a solid choice. It’s close to a fantastic sandwich place next door—highly recommend trying it! Overall, I’d recommend this place for anyone looking to explore the city with peace of mind and a comfortable spot to unwind.
It's worth the money overall ”
The Fun Inn is overall a nice place to stay with great location (in the centre of Taipei, close to some of the prominent tourist attractions. There's also a great beef noodles restaurant right downstairs) and cost efficient deals (£8 a night usually, with the exception on Saturday night which was £70!). The staff is friendly and helpful, the room I stayed in was clean with good ventilation, and the beds were tidy. I also felt quite safe during my stay. However, the quality of your stay depends on your cohibitants, who, for the ones I met, were generally mindful and polite with a few of them bringing small children with them and unavoidably and understandably making some noises. Many residents were not young solo travellers, and I felt a little disappointed as I did want to meet and talk to some peers. The facilities are overall nice but you may have to share toilet with around 10 people or so. Hot water for shower was rare (I didn't get to take a shower for I tried twice at different times of a day in different bathrooms but the water temperature was still low). Overall I think it's worth the money. It's a decent stay and it's easy to get anywhere in Taipei.
Perfect Location and With Bidet! ”
I will definitely stay here again when I get back. The staff are polite. The bed is huge and comfortable, the curtains are blacked out as well. You won’t be disturbed or moved when someone from the upper bunk makes any movement. The location is perfect, it’s like a 5 minute walk from the nearest ximen subway exit, hello kitty themed 7/11, and ximending night center. Everthing is secured because you can’t enter the floors, rooms or open locker without your room card. Huge space as well! The only negative i could say was the gap in our bathroom door. I guess it’s just ours that are like that. You can literally see if someone is sitting in the toilet bowl. I had to hang my towel in the door to cover the gap everytime i use the toilet bowl. Other than that, the bathroom is good. With bidet (thank god), huge shower area and complete shower essentials.

Standard is good enough for the price paid - however overall it could definitely be better. - Bed was comfortable enough, instructions for check in and check out were clear. Pillow and comforter were retrieved from the locker upon checking in - unsure if the locker was sanitizer between guests as dirty bags etc are placed in the locker. Pillow was extremely flat, not the most comfortable. - Very convenient location, with the option of walking to/from Taipei Main Station and/or Ximen. - Cleanliness / frequency of cleaning if the female dorm and toilets. With the single cubicle shared between 2 female dorms (> 10 pax) the bin quickly overflowed with feminine hygiene products and the shower drain was clogged. I opted to use the public shower outside the female dorm most nights. - Staff was helpful when on site, however there was a lack of anyone onsite overnight, which made things difficult when there were issues. The first night our female dorm had 2 drunk guests return at 1am and proceed to stumble and speak loudly. This was followed by vomiting on the sheets an hour later, and then falling down the bunk stairs, dumping dirty sheets on the ground between my bed and theirs, and more blabbering loudly. The room smelt of vomit the entire night, and after they checked out at 11am, there was no immediate cleaning even till I left at 12pm. I had to walk past the puke remnants on the stairs while getting ready to head out, and the sink in the female dorm was also stained with puke remnants. Very very disgusting, and would rather have had a staff on site who could have kicked these people out at night and cleaned up the room asap for the rest of the guests in the room so we wouldn’t have to endure it the entire night and morning. - Would be helpful to provide shareable slippers for guests to wear in the shower and in the room etc, so dirty shoes don’t have to be brought up to the upper bunk. It’s dirty and loud. I bought a pair from FamilyMart to use during my stay, and left it for others to use after I checked out. Would definitely consider staying again if traveling solo.
