Tu and Moon were amazing hosts. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean. The food was authentic and great quality. What a fantastic place, my only regret is we did not book more days at this amazing location and we were very sad to leave. 11 out of 10!

The place is perfectly located and all the places you need to visit is easily accessible. The stay is well maintained with all the amenities. The restaurant at their place is amazing as well. Our host (Moon) helped us plan and book activites during our stay there. Staff very very helpful and availabile throughout the day.

I spent 2 nights in Funny Monkey Homestay. The price looks a bit higher to be compared with other places but it's worth. Clean & spacious large room with beautiful balcony and river & mountains view. The homestay just a few minutes walk to Phong Nha cave ticket center, market, ~1km to Oxalis office, coffeeshop etc. It located right at the center of Phong Nha with one of the most beautiful view in town. I met Nguyet and Dung (Nay). They are so helpful with lots of information more than you can expect. Nguyet cooking skills are so great (Lau Ca Tram - organic fish hotpot & traditional bbq organic chicken). She also help us to book other famous rétaurants (East hill & Len Con) in Phong Nha to try new things. I and another girl (also a guest) took 12km kayaking to Phong Nha cave gate (return). She is a great host who gifted to connect people and work with love and passion. Thank you Nguỵet and Nay. Highly recommend.

Nice stay”
Great location, great view. Room was clean. Friendly staff. The homestay owns a private dock and also provides some kayaks and SUPs for free use. On the down side: my room did not have a refrigerator and I found the food to be a bit pricey.

Funny Monkeys Homestay is definitely a must-stay place in Phong Nha, Quang Binh. The homestay is by the river, with a lovely cafeteria overlooking to the peaceful river. The homestay offers free kayaking on the river. Very helpful staff with smile-on-the-go and extra great services! Room is spacious and clean.

A very nice and clean Homestay on the bank of Son River. Delicious and devoted meals. But a thing to consider is the noise can annoy guests staying in the rooms at groundfloor.

Sweetest Staff”
A friend and I stayed for one night and would definitely return! The staff are so nice and friendly. The restaurant has great food with lots of options and a beautiful view. The only downside was the rooms had mold but the staff were very concerned and let us move rooms. Everything was very clean. Highly recommend staying here!

Absolutely satisfactory choice for stay @ Phong Nha”
There was hardly anything I could complain about my 2-day stay @ Funny Monkeys. The facility is new, especially in the context of a record flood having just swept over the area by the time I stayed at the hotel. The owners, apparently 3 young ladies, were very nice to us and equally thoughtful. Having known that we must have been exhausted from a long trekking trip, they had warm tea ready by the time we were back to the hotel. If there was anything to improve, I would only want to raise 2 points: 1. The food was somehow not up to the price. But this was understandable though! 2. There were dogs at the hotel. They were cute actually. But obviously not so much for those who are not dog lovers! (I am however!)

The charismatic and kind team make this an exceptional place”
The location is fantastic, by the river and perfect for an evening drink. It is unfortunately located next to a church, which was sometimes noisy (but I did stay over the Christmas season). The really stand out factor are the proprietors Lyly and Moon, who went out of their way to make my stay pleasant and comfortable. And they just made me feel like I was part of the family. I cannot recommend this place enough

Fully functional but basic facilities. We were treated like long lost family. They put in total effort to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Their organic grilled chicken is a must have on their menu. We absolutely loved it.

Lovely homestay”
Moon and her staff made us feel welcome right from the beginning. It was easy to communicate via email to book the Dark cave and paradise tour and car bookings for transport. Fantastic views of the river from the rooms and the restaurant area. Room was comfortable and basic, but is considered good for hoemstays - there was air-conditioning and hot water, but the water pressure can be improved. Do factor in more time for meals as they prepare food from scratch and may take a while.

Hit or miss”
I stayed at Funny Monkeys on two nonconsecutive nights, first with a room with a river view and the second time with a room with a mountain view adjacent to the previous room, and my experiences were starkly different. The proprietors were friendly and attentive like always, and I have nothing but praise for my stay with the room with the river view. The view was spectacular, and just as pictured. The room with the mountain view was another matter altogether. It's smaller than the other room, but the most damning things about it had to do with the bathroom. Firstly, the bathroom is awkwardly placed, right next to where you put your head in the bed. Secondly, there is no functioning ventilation fan in the bathroom; this is especially important as the shower drains through the bathroom floor and it's gross to use the bathroom when the floor is wet. Thirdly, the overhead shower head has been removed, so I'm only left with the other shower head that splashes water everywhere.

Perfect location with heartwarming owners”
This place is ideal for those who love to wake up seeing the beautiful landscape of the river and gigantic mountains. Located in the centre of Phong Nha, so you could mostly get anything you need. Funny Monkeys also has a restaurant, so there is no worry if you're lazy to look for food outside. Homemade peanut butter and pineapple jam are pretty memorable and highly recommended to try. The 3 young passionate lady owners would surely make your trip to Phong Nha a lovely and fun part with their incredible energy. *Note: this homestay is located next to a church, so it's regular to hear the bell rings every morning or afternoon. If you are okay with it, then this is the right place for you. Hope to come back to Phong Nha, the love of my heart, and also will definitely choose to stay at Funny Monkeys again. All the best!

Great Value for Money”
Stayed there for a night last week. This place is right by the river and the view is just outstanding. From room to balcony you are just presented with staggeringly beautiful views day in, day out. Staff are quite a nice bunch too. Special mention to Moon who is just quite a darling. Moon is very accommodating and friendly. She is always on hand to make sure you get what you want, may it be a recommendation for a good place to eat, a massage, tours. Having said that though, do keep in kind that the property is just a few meters from a church. Churches in the area turn on their blaringly loud speakers just before dusk and very early in the morning, to signal prayer times (or call people to mass). I don’t mean to be disrespectful, Iam a Catholic myself, but just wanted to highlight the matter as this might be an issue to some. Apart from the noise from the church, it is still quite a nice place to stay and will definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting Phong Nha.
