Stay at Galadari Colombo”

We spent 10 days in Sri Lanka and stayed in Galadari for 7 days (they could not give us extension for last 2 days). The hotel is good and we will recommend the place to anyone who is going. Location is superb, with view of Marine Drive and President Palace. The buffet Breakfast provided by the hotel as a part of the rate has wide choice and good food - very good option for a tourist as you do not know where and what lunch you will have. The hotel is a little old and needs renovation, but the rooms we got gave us no room for complaint. The hotel has been taken over by new owners who are waiting for the end of the civil war to start renovation. Transport cost in Colombo is high. The hotel unfortunately has no free pick up service from Airport, but does provide a paid cab facility on request. The staff are helpful and properly trained. The service levels were also good. The management prides its self on service and uses it as a marketing tool to offset lack of renovation.

Galadari Hotel”

Very homely atmosphere. Very safe to keep your documents in the room safe. Very good room service and business center. Amazing food at the cafe and the Japanese restaurant. People are very kind and helpful (ie. the bell boy, reception and the lift guy). Room service was excellent. The room was always clean. Good value for money. When you tell any security or military person on the street that you are heading towards Galadari Hotel, somehow they treat you better. Everything was so close. Very good room service and Laundry service. The food was outstanding. I can easily say that I had the best seafood at this hotel buffet. It was a beautiful experience and I will be back to stay at the Hotel.

Worth every penny...”

The one thing that really surprised us about Galadari, is how reasonable it was. For just a few dollars more than the 2-3 star hotels , it was worth every penny spent. Rooms were fairly good, breakfast was amazing (huge spread, and a fairly good vegetarian choice as well - something we could barely say about any other place we saw around Sri Lanka). Location was also pretty good - by the sea. Not as fancy as the other 5 star deluxe hotels, but considering our budget, Galadari definitely exceeded our expectations.

pretty nice hotel”

this was our first time in Colombo, we booked 2 double rooms for the 4 of us. we dint get a sea facing room, but we were upgraded to a nice superior room. mini bar and room amenities were stacked. excellent concierge and room service. breakfast was tasty. the staff were extremely helpful. there is a nice nightclub in the ground floor that has opened recently and is packed till 3 am. overall an excellent stay and i will definitely stay here the next time i go to Colombo.

Perfect location in Colombo”

The location of the Galadari Hotel is wonderful, it is walk distance to the Galle Face Green, Dutch Hospital and Crescat Mall. We stayed during New Year's evening and there were many different and good options in the Hotel. Breakfast offered a great variety of bread, eggs, cereals and fruits. The room was clean and good size, but the furniture should be renovated, it looks old and the carpet is not in very good shape. I would recommend the hotel to offer the wi-fi service as a complement, like almost all hotels nowadays. It is free onky for some hours.

Galadari hotel was nice and beautiful even though it was a old hotel, the staff, bell boys ,security, receptionist, Rooms Service etching fact everybody was helpful and courteous in their service rendered. The location was beautiful overlooking the seas and the presidential office just in front of the hotel. Would re-commend this hotel to any one who will be visiting Colombo, further the price offered by Agoda Was reasonable compare to other web site vendore.In all I enjoyed my stay in Galadari and planning to stay there in the next 2 weeks time. My stay in Galadari”

The room in Galadari is excellent, clean and newish, mine had a sea view, not sure if they all do. The bar was very reasonably priced with good live music, also if you are in the mood there is a busy disco later on. The buffet breakfast was great, if you need some good food in Colombo here is a great start. I found the galle face area of Colombo better then this area and prefer to stay there. Also the Internet is very expensive at $15 per day, but I work on the internet so had to pay. Also soft drinks in the restaurant are overpriced.

Excellent stay”

Have had many hotel experiences in the past and Hotel Galadari reached my number one. From the staff to the services including a wonderful hair and beauty Salon (gave such a wonderful service within a constrained amount of time), this hotel gives their guests such a warm welcome that makes you feel the stay, just like home.

A blend of positives and negatives.”

I stayed at Galadari Hotel earlier this November, the hotel is located at an excellent location in the city with all the beautiful buildings and sea by the side. The hotel has a grand structure with plenty of rooms, restaurants and other facilities. Positives: Location is perfect and you have all the famous places nearby. Hotel itself is quite spacious and has a grand lobby area. Outdoor pool are on the first floor has very nice views of the surround area. (sea as well) Negatives: I felt the hotel structure is a bit old and not a modern one. Room furniture and room interior are pretty old age and doesn't give a nice feel. (you can get much better rooms in similar price range eg. Ramada etc) Bathroom was very small. Service was slow and had to call the operator a few times to get the tasks done. I would not recommend this hotel to others and I will ask them to check other hotels that fall in this price range as they have much better rooms, interior and service.

Food was Fabulous ”

Hotel needs refurbishing and heard they have already started to do that. Beautiful view of Colombo from the 10th floor room we stayed. Food cost is reasonable and very tasty. Had one of the best Mutton Biriani. Will recommend.

Galadari is one of the best located hotels in Colombo. The stay was thoroughly enjoyable - the breakfast spread was superb, don't ever miss it. An evening at the Rooftop Restaurant is a must!!

Third trip to Colombo. Second stay at Galadari”

Excellent Location . walking distance from GalleFace (across road ), Dutch hospital precinct, parliament house , etc. Great lobby and Restaurants. Excellent food . Very courteous concierge, door man , lobby staff.Excellent Food quality. Room quality leave too much to be desired . Looks old but good ocean view rooms . only because of not very high room standard did i explore other options . Otherwise Galadari is an excellent value for money .

The lowest price 5* hotel. Good value for money ”

The Galadari is perhaps a little tired and things are a bit short of true 5 star standard. But things are still good as long as you get a decent deal. Staff were really very good indeed. Comfortable beds and decent rooms.

Great location but make sure you ask for a non-smoking room”

Well located hotel for a night or two in colombo. A bit tired inside but value for money. They still allow smoking here so be sure to ask for a non-smoking room

Overall this is a good hotel”

This is a good hotel. Good staff, good location, good views, good quality. Food also good. But there was no hot water facility. I experienced this in my last two stays. Other than that I would like to say Galadari is a good hotel. And it is a safe. Family friendly.

New Year's Eve at Galadari”

This is the second tome we come to Galadari for New Year's eve. Its location makes it a great place to stay. It has a beautiful sea view and it is located close to a very unique place: The Dutch Hospital, where you can find good food, nice bars, spas, and small stores with Sri Lankan arts and crafts.

An oldie but a goodie”

This was my first time to stay at the Galadari. It's an older property in Colombo but the beds are comfortable, the pillows soft and the AC works. The Staff are friendly and the breakfast is pretty good too. I find it to be good value for money & will stay again.

Staff let down the hotel”

Staff at galadari are a let down. Starting from the reception where they barely greet guests with a smile. Check in and Check out staff do their jobs but fail to realise that they are in the hospitality industry. I observed one of the counter staff snap at an elderly lady who made inquiries regarding changing some currency, which appalled me. Good luck trying to get some food packed to go - which we needed done as we had an early start one morning. I was transfered 7 times from the reception, to #2, coffee shop, back to the reception, concierge, back to reception and finally the lobby manager. Who included had no clue how to get this done. After wasting all that time, I was asked to come all the way down to place an order where as our friends had gotten it done via the concierge. To cut a long story short - you need to be extremely stern and firm with them to get something done, which was the case for us where they ultimately did sort the order when I threatened to talk to the management and called their bluff. They apologetically said that the hotel was on full capacity and that they had received many complaints from guests inhouse. This however is not an excuse for the lag in service levels and processes neither should it change how staff treat guests. Having stayed at possibly all the 5 star hotels in Colombo, Galadari certainly doesn't live upto to its 5 star claim because of their staff. High time the management did something to train their frontline staff the basics of customer handling - from the doorman to bellboys and counter staff. Disappointing city hotel.

Enjoyable time, relaxing atmosphere & great staff”

I enjoyed my brief stay at the Galadari primarily because of the friendly staff. Everyone was very attentive & I was impressed with the service. If you enjoy Hookah/Shisha/Water Pipe smoking, then you'll be pleased to know they serve hookah at the tables in the lobby outside the middle eastern restaurant. Overall I would say that I had a pleasant time.

Great hotel and friendly welcome from the bellboy. Unfortunately the receptionist did not welcome us friendly.. Did not smile, even give the feedback without looking at us. really regret it since Galadari Hotel have friendly bellboy to welcome us.
