Great hotel with good coffee and super nice staff.”
I liked this hotel so much that I stayed a second time with my parents here when they visited me and we traveled to Chiang Mai. The staff don't speak very much english, but are so friendly and helpful that we usually figured everything out and didn't have any problems. Rooms are clean and comfy and very nicely decorated. Location is so close to the square and you can walk out and catch a tuk tuk or songtow really easy to get to many sites. Only slight trouble is that usually all taxies and tour buses do not know where it is, but if you refer to the Wat that is close then they know right where to go. Hope I can stay here again next time I'm in Chiang Mai.

good option just outside the old city”
Very good stay at Galato. Nice little cafe on ground floor. Nice staff. Food stalls set up every night on the main road heading to the North Gate. The North Gate Jazz Club is right there and the Sunday Walking Market is within easy distance. Step outside and catch a red songtheow to Thapae Gate and the bar area or walk to the opposite side of the moat to get to Nimman and Doi Suthep. There's a terrace on the roof with nice views of the city.

Lovely warm reception clean bright modern decor!”
I highly recommend this Hostel! A quick jaunt to center of town great restaurants convenience store and bank. The hostel was very clean and modern and had a travel agency right next door that will arrange day trips and pick up. Their was a problem with our room (not the hotels fault)and we got an immediate upgrade! Free breakfast and great owners! Stay in the suite! It's bigger ;)

Great Staff”
While cleanliness is the most important thing to me, wifi and kind staff are always a plus. That being said, the room could have been scrubbed a bit more, but the toilet facilities were nice and clean. I don't know how this place would be during a busy tourist season (small!), but in the off season it was fine. The wifi was out but the super-kind staff let me print out my boarding pass from their hotel computer and printer for no fee, and that was going above and beyond, in my opinion. I think I'll keep looking for a 'favourite' spot to stay in Chiang Mai, but this has been the best so far!

4 Nights in Galato”
The room I booked was Family room for 4 occupants and had to pay 400 Baht for extra mattress as we have 5 of us. The check in time was 2pm but had to wait till 2.45pm as they only have one housekeeper for the day. The room was clean and spacious. It has separate bathroom and toilet, very convenient. The location is good as you can flag down the song-theaw easily. There are food stalls and 7-11 nearby the hotel so you can easily get your food and drinks. It was a nice experience staying in Galato overall.

Friendly staff, great coffe”
It was a pleasant stay for me. I just wouldn't recommend it to any one with weak knees/ankles or the elderly as you need to go up several flights of steep stairs to get to the bedrooms. The front entrance is very appealing with the coffee shop, very clean glass doors, and cosy foyer. The girl on duty when I arrived carried my bag up the stairs for me. The hostel is in an alleyway - not pretty, but quiet, away from traffic, yet still close to the main street.

Convenient Hostel with Friendly Price”
We stayed in a 4-person room with friendly price. it's clean and cozy. Nice decoration with a modern style. The hostel is located near the main road but not noisy at all. Highly recommend if you wanna take a rest after hanging out all day.

Hotel with heart, room for improvement”
Seems to be a family business, hotel has a homelike feeling. Mostly young customers. Hotel looks like a shopping mall from outside, but has soul inside. Location ok, withdrawn from busy street, near old temple garden. Room with view recommended. Clean. Maintenance issues. Water came in. Had electrical problem and had to shift room; a professional manager would have given discount for the trouble. No lift, many hot stairs, a labyrinth. Risky in case of fire. Check exits. Weak English. Room for improvement, but I come again next year.

I stayed in private room on 4th floor. Great location. Room was clean. Breakfast was nice. Few hotel parking but you can easily find one nearby. No elevator - okay if you dont have big luggage.

Nice room, terrible shower, sink and bed”
The whole hostel has only one hair dryer, it's almost impossible to get it. Room is big and nice, but scorpions and mosquitos can be seen every day. Shower facilities are not in a great condition, water goes down on quite a slow pace, especially the sink. None of drivers in Chiang Mai knew the hostel, so you'll need to use map to point out the location, or simple call for north gate. Laundry services is recommended.

Oven in Chiangmai”
It was too hard to stay in a room where air condition was too small. The big room for 4 guests has only 11000 BTU which cannot give enough air. The charge for air condition room but it does not work properly. The staff listen to all problem but could not solve since an owner does not want to improve. Galato Coffee Hostel charged full price even it does not be able to provide you standard facility like air condition or even the guests cannot stay in a heat trapped room. Don't stay in an oven, there are other places valued your money.

I love this hotel because they not quite far Nimmanhamin Road I can ride a bycecle and goback to the hotel very easy The waiter also friendly Next time I will be back. P.S This hotel don't have elevator.

Nice staff no elevator”
Good location near Mueng Chiangmai convenient for your own car. Parking is the front of this hostel when you drive in about fifty meters. Hostel is adapt from two commercial buildings.There is not an elevator & some accommodation are in the third or fourth floor.Some mosquitos all around everywhere. Only a little Sandwich is your breakfast but new cook for everyone's order. Convenient for use publich transport ( Red Car ) but not good to entry after sunset especially lady.

Great Hostel”
We bought the room with the great view and it made our stay infinitely better ! Very easy walk to old town. Only downside are the many flights of stairs to get to your room ! We were five steep flights up so carrying our luggage was difficult but overall really good stay !

small, cheap, no internet”
note there is no elevator at this multi-story hotel, so you have been warned. that said, the place was clean, the staff were quite friendly and spoke english and chinese in addition to thai, and were very helpful. the beds were not bad either. bathrooms were clean overall. not bad for the price.

Convenient place ”
The place is very convenient and suitable! But the room is a little high. And need pick up heavy backpacks and luggage myself. The room is dark in the night, TV only two channels can see, but not very clearly. No need to book tour or laundry with them, a little bit expensive! The water is not very strong for shower. But the price is really cheap.
