Unfortunately are there no real alternatives in Zamboanga City ”
There is definitely a lack of maintenance in this Hotel. Of course, nearly every year are parts under reconstruction. But this cannot be an excuse for not working waste water drains in the bathrooms. The staff is not so friendly anymore and would need definitely some training. The pool is crowded with non hotel guests.
We stayed at this hotel for 8nights. We arrived at Zamboanga around 7am then we just went to their kiosk on the left side of the exit gate for a free land transfer from airport to the hotel. Hotel is just 5 minutes away or lesser from the airport. We booked garden wing which is the new wing of the hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, I approached the receptionist right away about my room reservation, they are not that friendly and approachable unlike other receptionist we encountered, but as a guest, we have to stand firm especially when we do a call two days before arrival. After checking in, they gave us a room on the 4th floor (4421), room with no view and we noticed that there are cockroaches on every corner of the room so I decided to call the housekeeping to resolve our issues on the said room. He offered us a room on the 8th floor which I refused to accept due to water pressure issue I read on the reviews of the previous guest, so he offered another room on the 5th floor (5508), a room with pool view. I just forgot his name but I think he is the head of the housekeeping. he is very attentive to our needs, he even called us late afternoon to asked if we liked our new room. I would also like to commend Calvin Klein (housekeeping) for being a good room attendant as he respond to all our request and for keeping our room clean and tidy. I am also impressed on how they improved their breakfast buffet unlike the previous years. This is now my daughter’s favorite hotel at Zamboanga, worth every penny, and we will definitely comeback.
Not good for business travellers”
This is the only deccent hotel in Zamboanga. Front desk not approachable. Wait list for check in too long to wait. Restaurant need to book for hotel guest. Business cannot set due no availability of resto table.
Bedroom and Bathroom in thr garden are really clean. And well maintained. Gym is well equipped also but they open rather late at 7am. My room bar was empty so i had to call the hotrl restaurant for water which cannot be charged to room.
As someone who works in a customer service industry and given that this is a 4-star hotel, I am quite disappointed with their service. Upon check-in (garden wing), it was expected for the front desk staff to welcome their guest with a smile at least and assist them with enthusiasm, but they failed to do that. The same goes upon check out, not once have I sighted a smile from their front desk staff. Though, I have also encountered some friendly staff along the way. The room was a deluxe double, it was spacious but looked a bit worn out. I requested for one big bed but my request wasnt granted, but NBD. The toilet was smaller than seen on the photo, the bath tub drain stopper wasn’t working, as for the cleanliness it was okay. I requested for a bathrobe, but to my surprise, it had a “rental fee” of PHP 100, unlike other hotels I’ve stayed at, they wont charge you for bathrobes. Room service took almost an hour for our order to arrive, good thing the food was alright. As for the breakfast buffet, it was so-so. Not complaining tho. Just stating facts. It was just an overnight stay, so I wasn’t able to enjoy the other facilities that they offered. Hoping for a better stay next time!

Some of the staffs, especially in the front desk were not that accomodating. There was a time that my call was cut off when my requests were not yet fully expressed. There was no ring back so I have to call again to finish my request. Secondly, I asked for the room make up. And i believed, they didn't change the linens. They just used the previous ones without even tucking it properly. The plates and cutleries that we used previously were still there. So it was like the room was halfway made.
Very Good Hotel”
The hotel is located just right across the airport, you can just walk...very nice rooms, spacious and clean.. nice pool also, very well maintained. Good buffet breakfast... hotel a little bit expensive but worth the money... but would love to stay here again in the near future.

Might be because there were booked events and guests come and go the facility. It took me a while to check in. Have not used the pool since there were several events and a bit crowded. Dining on breakfast buffet took a while to refill empty containers. Not much variations on foods every single morning and had always sausage and scrambled eggs compared to my last visit. Overall I'm still checking on to this hotel as I feel secured. Hopefully to have a better stay on my next visit.

Location is good very near to the airport, clean and good facilities. Swimming Pool is good except for the towel not the prescribed color blue stripe with white. The food is good but less variety to choose from. Overall , very good.
Nice Hotel near airport”
Once you arrived in Zamboanga International Airport, look for the hotel's staff on the arrival hall as it will bring you to the hotel for free (even though the hotel is just few meters away). The facilities are nice and their staff were friendly. The room is quite big for 3 of us. If you want to eat, there are restaurants adjacent to Hotel. The newly built KCC mall is just one tricycle ride away. I like the free breakfast as you can choose on the wide variety of foods they will serve. Overall, we had a great with my family on this Hotel.
Great Stay and Accomodating Hotel Staff”
The hotel staff are very accomodating since the first time I stayed in this hotel. Rooms were fully booked at this time thus I can't checked in early and they prioritized my booking. I waited for an hour or so before I checked in. This time I'm confused with the hotel room I booked. The facilities included as per agoda for Superior Room in Main Hotel includes minibar and coffee tea maker but upon clarification with the hotel it is only for the deluxe room which I booked from my last hotel booking last december. To verify this I can provide screenshot from my mobile or you may check the superior room available for booking. Overall I will surely stay again in this hotel and would recommend this hotel.

very nice room, perfect clean; check in: fast,fully ok; later checkout after 12 noon was not possible; breakfast: nice, but no bacon; buffet a bit small; but taste good; swimming pool: sometimes too crowded, not perfect clean; but anyway very nice.
I stayed at the new wing of the hotel where the rooms were larger and newer. The whole place was very clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Food was so-so. Very near the airport -- walking distance, if you're willing to risk walking with tricycles. For the price I paid, it was very much worth it. Will stay again next time I'm in Zamboanga.
Not really quite a 4* hotel”
Please keep in mind this review is for the garden view tower. the newly renovated wing. Most of the bad reviews about bad carpets, etc , are for the old tower. It was largely a very pleasant stay. the room is new. So furnitures and bathroom fittings are also new. inroom internet is fast enough. The price, i thought is reasonable for 1 good reason. The city gets daily blackouts.. Sometimes lasting 8 hours each time. Most of my stay was being ran by a generator. If i had stayed in a cheaper hotel without a generator, my stay would of been unpleasant as h3ll without a/c. One great drawback for this hotel : breakfast is POOR. I swear, i have stayed in 3 star hotels with breakfast that was so much better than what this hotel serves. There are some good food in the buffet table, to be clear about it, but most of the food -especially the main dishes were BAD. Corned beef that came out of a can. CHEAP CORNED BEEF at that. (arg+++++ brand) some weird chicken with lemon butter sauce. the great items on their menu : the fresh fruits. the freshly cooked veggies. the PAN DE SAL (filipino bread). (i guess it's made fresh). the egg station was okay. i asked to cook the eggs in butter, so i brought him some butter.. he instead put the butter in the eggs like an omelette filling. LoL. But the omelette i had the day before was okay. in summary : good rooms, good service, bad breakfast.
Comfort and Safety”
We did not stay much during the day as we were out on the beach and visiting the historical Fort Pilar. I am happy we booked a room at their new wing thus we enjoyed the new facility. Although this wing is new, you expect less people and some floors not yet open. I appreciated that the hotel is trying to keep with the international standard thus this hotel is so far the best you can get in Zamboanga and safely located. The staff are friendly and attentive. Except for two things: asked for a 5am wake up time through the front desk, but was woke up by the automated wake up at 4am! the bidet in the bathroom is at the left side where it was difficult to use when you are right handed!
Decent Hotel - Awful Service”
We stayed as a group of 4 and booked a Deluxe King Bed - Garden Wing for 3D2N. The location was convenient. It was adjacent to the airport and a lot of taxis and tricycle pass by. The room was clean but the tub has molds. The staff were sulky. They weren't very friendly, accommodating at least. We stayed in a Deluxe King Bed which is, by default, a room for 2pax but we paid extra for additional 2 more pax (P1,000/pax/night) since the room has a sofa bed. They failed to provide us sufficient room amenities for 4pax such as pillows, blankets, bedroom slippers etc. One staff also rejected two of us a breakfast buffet on our last day. We kept on reminding them that we paid extra to accommodate 4pax in all terms. Only until such hassle that they provided what we are entitled of. Compared to other hotels in Zamboanga, Garden Orchid is way more expensive but the service does not live up to it.
GOOD facilities but VERY POOR customer service”
The hotel has a very good facilities and we loved it. The big downside is, it has a very poor customer service which makes guests unhappy and unsatisfied during their stay. . CONS: Very bad customer service: (1) Upon check in - keeps the guests waiting because the rooms are not ready yet regardless its past 2pm (check-in time for guests). (2) Upon check out - they would actually yell your remaining balance to settle across the lobby hall in which other guests could hear it. (3) Bathroom/Comfort Rooms in the swimming pool - very dirty and it smells. Not properly maintained. (4) Swimming pool wait staffs - very poor customer service. PROS (1) Rooms are clean. Although alittle miss on the inside of the cabinet (have dirt from shoe marks), and towels and bedding looks old, but overall considered clean. (2) Very quick room service for additional towels. I'm impressed. Turnaround time is about 2-3mins.
We stayed in the Bridal suite which was fabulous! Roomy, cool and clean with attentive maid service to replenish soaps, shower gel etc. The reception staff were most helpful in giving us tips on where to find a nice beach resort for the day, ordering taxis and arranging the shuttle bus. The only regret I had is that we didn't have time to make use of the gym. It looks like they've got it all decked out with brand new training equipment, you could even smell the new rubber on the treadmills! Maybe we'll get to use it next time. Don't forget to take advantage of the free breakfast - we certainly had our fill of cereal, eggs, cooked meats and coffee! Would definitely recommend Garden Orchid hotel to anybody, be it for business or pleasure and well worth the price!
stayed at room 417. there was a tiny cockroach by the sink
There is no adequate sound proofing between rooms. I could literally here the snore of the person adjacent to my room. Internet connection is very poor. Hope you can do something about it.
