Good location, next to Jameson Distillery, Clean
Stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed my stay in Generator. Yet on the second night, the room opposite was quite noisy till 1~2am, perhaps they were just came back from party.

Breakfast not included
The only hostel during my travels (21days) that excluded breakfast. Had bad experience on the day of departure when a male staff was not able to assist to print out my boarding pass and kept insisting that a word version was sent even though it was clear in my mail sent item that PDF version was indeed sent at least 3 times. The same male staff further rudely interjected my conversation with his colleague when I was asking for a late check out (after I wasted time to head over to town to get my boarding pass printed). This request was rejected at the outset without hearing my explanation that I received an email saying that a late check out could be requested.

One of the receptionists were rude. Housekeeping was also rude. I do not recommend this place. There are a lot of good hotels and hostels in dublin and this place ain't one of them!

A fine hostel
The hostel is generally fine, good staff, clean corridors, clean hot shower & toilets, and lounge area. However, it lacks a guest kitchen where we can cook our own food. There also appears to be an odd smell of sweaty and damp socks on the 2nd floor and in my room. I'm not sure if it is an unusual occurance during my stay, but it was present for the entire 3days of my stay throughout the day - either when I head out in the morning or when I return in the late afternoon or in the evening.

Good location, cheap, nice room
Generator Hostel is a place you want to be if you're a traveller. The room is clean and the location is close to Smithfield Luas Station. 7 mins to Four Courts and around 18 mins to O' Connell Street. The staff is friendly and there is a mart in front of it which make it easier for anyone to get anything. They also have a bar around the lobby. Nice place to chill and also there is free wifi. I noticed that they are few more Generator hostels at other countries. Might try them soon. And yes, I'll definately come back.

A modern, fun and lively hostel
Price, Location, Cleanliness
I had a wonderful experience with the Generator Hostel during my stay to visit my Irish buddies. The members of staff were helpful on Wifi connection (no password needed!) and provided me hot water for making my own hot chocolate. Maps for tourist hot spots; bus to airport and other services are available from the Reception too. Don’t bother bringing that huge book of Lonely Planet with you – I left mine at home intentionally! Check-in was fast-and-easy: sign acknowledgement form, get card key (for elevator + room + central light + bathroom; bed lights are usable without card), and off you go. This hostel is conveniently located in Smithfield. As the LUAS (the tram service in Ireland – they are still enhancing its network after launching in 2004) is adjacent to the hostel, going to the City Centre is a breez. Famous Irish landmarks are within reach: The Old Jameson Distillery is just in front of Generator; Guinness Storehouse + Ha’Penny Bridge; the Spire on O’Connell St through LUAS; National Museum of Ireland, National Concert Hall, Trinity College and Grafton St by bus or walking. Day and night views along the Quay are captivating! There is a British power plug for each bed allocated; the specially-designed holder (above your head) for your gadgets while sleeping; fresh white linens provided on your first day; mirror + toilet tissues + hair dryer provided in my 6-bed shared ensuite bathroom. Please bring your shampoo + soap + towels + flip-flops. Water pressure is excellent, good water temperature and the shower head is detachable for children. No fan / air-conditioner in room. No in-house laundry facilities. Breakfasts not inclusive but try the in-house Irish Breakkie! Bring padlocks for huge horizontal lockers below beds. This is a modern, fun, clean and lively hostel at a great price and friendly members of staff; ideal for those who love exploring the city by walking / public transport. Please do not expect 5-Star treatment.

comfortable, clean, love the beds
it was like staying in a hotel, the beds were awesome, you had your own light and plug and a privacy cover. Beds were comfortable and toilets were big and clean. Good place to stay in!
