Too good to be true”

Location, service, value for money

Really good. We book a 8pax private room for a family of 5 just so we can enjoy the privacy. The facilities in the hotel is as per what you've paid for which is budget but sufficient. You will have to have your own daily essentials and thats about all. Security day and night is very strict and it gives comfort to us on safety perspective. Their cafes and chillout lounge are very modern and hip providing privacy and at the same time room to mingle. They are about 15mins walk from Kings Cross St Pancras station however it there's no signage from the station so one can easily get lost if unprepared earlier. They provide lockers for baggage storage at fee on hours count. Their staffs are really friendly and helpful. They provide free walking tour around town. They even help us book taxi. For a city hotel..this is really value for money. Highly recommended for those not into 5star sort of stay.

New, clean and AWESOME”

I've stayed at Generator London during Thanksgiving week. The facilities seem to be new and very well maintained. Showers, hot water, clean bathroom, clean shower room, warm and cozy room, clean linen ... everything was excellent. Also, the location is less than 10 min walk from Kings Cross tube / Eurostar station where you can get to anywhere. I highly recommend this hostel. One thing note is one of my mate told me he got his stuff stolen a day before I got there - so I kept most of my stuff in a locker which costed me extra 6 pounds a day.

Hello, Generator London is a very old building that was originally a police training barracks. Unfortunately with it being a listed building, the opportunity for us to change the shape and size of the rooms is not there. We have arranged the rooms in the best possible way to accommodate our guests comfortably and safely and I am sorry you feel we haven’t achieved that. We do also have larger dorms which are more spacious. We hope despite this we can have the opportunity to see you again in the future.

Generator Review”

The staff were amazing, great location and extremely clean and secure

Myself and my friend had a fantastic stay at the Generator Hostel. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and really went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay there. All the facilities were great and the bar was good craic in the evenings. The hostel had all the perks of a hostel (being able to meet lots of new people and a cheap stay) without any of the usual negatives. In comparison to other hostels I've stayed in, the Generator felt really safe and secure and the rooms and facilities were all kept in pristine condition. Location was also perfect, 5 minute walk from Kings Cross station. Fantastic hostel, couldn't recommend it enough!

Good Location & Big Room”

Pro: Good Location very closed to King Cross & Russel tube station, the bedroom and bathroom is big and clean, there's hairdryer in the bathroom. There's bar and lounge to hang around which is pretty cool, wi fi is strong even in the room. Cons: No towel provided, you can only buy from them. There are worker (not Generator Hostel worker) staying in the room and they slept during the day, so most of the time, i can't turn on the light which is difficult when you need to pack your things. I extended my stay to 12 bed dorm, it's still have big size room, however it is directly below the bar hence, it is noisy as the bar play the music until late night. But overall it is fun to stay and will definitely stay again next time.

Almost perfect except for the heat”

We had the misfortune of doing our trip in the summer, and the hostel did not have airconditioning. I know this is a common problem in London establishments, but this was ridiculous -- my father couldn't breathe in the evening because of the heat, and reception said all their fans have been distributed to other guests, so we literally had to buy a fan and bring it to our room to survive. Establishments, much more so accommodations, should start adapting. We don't need air conditioning, even a simple wall-mounted or stand fan would have done wonders!! Having said that though, we can't complain about anything else. The staff was friendly, the room was spacious, the facilities were all clean, and location was fantastic, close to King's Cross, Euston and Russell Square. If you're visiting London in any other time of the year except summer, I SUPER RECOMMEND Generator London.

Very clean hostel at a great location”

Stayed at a room for three and size was comfortable enough. Our room was almost at the end of the hall so making frequent trips to the bathroom/toilet which was located next to the lifts (centre) was not that convenient. Room was clean, bed comfortable, locker space given in the room was a good size to store your bags (not large luggage). Location was fantastic, under 10 minutes walk to King's Cross Station, if you are taking the tube to Heathrow, Russell Square (Piccadilly line) station is about 6-7 mins walk. Definitely recommend Generator to travelers who like staying in hostels (but not for those who prefer to have en-suite bathrooms). Was worried initially that the hostel would be noisy (as per some reviews), but we were on the 3rd floor and were not disturbed by noise. It might be noisy if you stay on the 1st floor though. Would have appreciated if there was a common kitchen where we could use an electric kettle or get some hot water, that would have made our stay perfect.

Fantastic hostel in central London”

I greatly enjoyed my few nights at Generator Hostel. First of all it was by far the most modern, user-friendly and stylish hostile I've stayed at in all of my years of traveling. It is comfortable, well-run & very user-friendly. The downstairs lounge areas are incredibly fun & relaxing. But my favorite part was the hostel staff, all of whom were super helpful, friendly and accommodating. In particular, Bianca at the front desk went out of her way to help me with a few check-in problems and luggage storage issues, nothing was ever too complicate for her, and she really did her best to solve all kinds of random requests. In short, I would happily come back here and I highly recommend this modern hostel to anyone visiting London on a budget!

Near King's Cross and St Pancras rail stations and near Russel Square Tube station. The room and bathroom are great. Just not sure for the shower curtains : doors would be better. Lockers to keep your luggage are not free. And you can't bring your own food to eat there... A nice place to stay if you need to be near the rail station (late arrival or early departure, or just for the Tube at King's Cross/St Pancras station)

Beautiful, buzzing hotel for travellers”

The hostel is as nice as it looks on picture. Bed is very comfortable, plenty of showers/toilet. Full breakfast is ok wih £6, far better than the continent breakfast of £4. The bathroom is nice but very cold and wet all the time. Traveller should bring your own lock for the lockers. There is a safe locker that works just fine with ok price (i used large locker for storing my luggage after check out, £4 for 6hr). The location is good, near Euston, King Cross and Russel Square stations which mean you can travel anywhere in London. Will come back next time.

The location is amazing. It's very close to the St. Pancras International and Kings Cross stations, so if you are traveling to other cities or countries, this is a good place to stay. There are many restaurants and some shops are nearby as well. This hostel has laundry facilities, but there aren't enough. So, if you plan to do your laundry here, expect to wait in line for 2-3 hours just like I did.

Last minutes resort”

Was not my first choice. Unfortunately my initial booked accommodation cancelled two days prior. In rush to find one affordable on new year eve and in King Cross area. Stayed in 8 mixed dorm. There are CCTV at a lot of places, but many exit door weren't locked. So any one can sneak in and stay for the night outside the dorms, inside the premises. There were drawers under bunk bed for each bed holder, just that you need to have your own lock. Alternative, buy a combination lock from reception. Tooth brush, toothpaste , towel etc are available for purchase or hire. It is convenience, not cost effective if you on tight budget. Lockers fees £8 for 24hrs. Again it is convenience, not cost effective. All you can eat breakfast £7 pay when you check in. I think its cheap. I had bar food - Buffalo wings £8 for dinner. I think it was tasty.

So-so hostel, pretty cool.”

I got a confirmation my request for a lower bunk would be fulfilled. Staff said there were no more bottom bunks. Went into the room, bottom bunk was empty. Reception said someone had already checked in and they're already given the key. Dude checked in only that night. Room was not clean. Quite cramped. I stayed at Generator Paris and it was so much better than Generator London. At Generator Paris, each bed had its own reading light, power outlet, usb outlet, 3 small storage areas that the bed area. Generator London had none of these. The towels available for purchase were terrible. Left whitetlint lint all over me. Lift was not working the first 2 days I was there so I had to lug my luggage up the stairs. So-so hostel. Location was great though. Close to King's Cross and Russel Square. Quite a bit of eateries and cafes nearby. There's a supermarket and Brunswick Centre where you can shop and eat a bit.

Stay again”

Staying there more than 3(three) days was pretty amazing experience. At the center of London, that less than 10mins walked to King's and Rusell Square Metro. The hostel also pretty near to Brunswick Center, where I can find GBK, Yo! Sushi, and Nando's. The room also checked and cleaned every morning at 10. as well as the bathroom.. but at the wrong time (about 7 to 10am). That's my bath-time, that caused me to find other bathroom (other floor). Other than the bathroom things, I am sure will be stay again at GH London.
