Best Budget Hotel”

The Hotel is located in the entrance of Pondicherry when reaching from East Coast Road. Though the hotel is recently developed, the entire staff team seems to be very experienced and well trained. The hotel cost is very low in view of the Brand of the hotel. As we went just a couple of days after a powerful cyclonic attack, the external properties of the hotel were seen heavily damaged, however there is no lack in the performance.

Clean and tidy hotel,worth the money paid.”

We had just 3days,and were on a look out for a weekend getaway.Pondicherry being 6hours away from bangalore...it fitted our requirement.As it was a last minute plan to travel...we did not had time to review many hotels.So we decided to go by thumb rule that branded hotels are better to stay.So we booked Ginger.Though the location of the hotel was not near the beach,but otherwise the cleanliness of the rooms and toilets were good.I liked their idea of go green concept to safe guard the natural resources like water..etc. The staff was cordial.and the plus point is...after soaking in the sun and sand of the beach when u are back to your hotel room you have a cafe coffee day in the ground floor with a big LCD TV...so you can even watch your favourite IPL Cricket matches too while enjoying a either a cold/hot coffee. :) They have a few customized T-shirt shops..where in if you have an idea they will design that T-shirt for you... So guyz what are you waiting for,if you want to go to Pondicherry and are not really keen at staying some beach resorts then Ginger is worth the money.

...and this risks being too lenient. The worst what can be said of Ginger at Pondicherry has already been told. Would I stay here again when in Pondicherry? No.

Not exactly value for money”

Being from an established Hotel Chain, the Tata group, the standards were abysmal. The entire design of the hotel smacked of saving infrastructure costs. The individual AC units fitted in the rooms ( we were 3 couples) was hopelessly inadequate to cater to the November heat of Pondicherry. One shudders to think of what would be the state of the rooms in the peak of summer. The lobby was hot, with no AC, the restaurant hygiene, and food was below standard. The staff were untrained and seemed to have been just picked up randomly and put to work.

Very comfy beds.. and nice people”

I booked this hotel last minute and do find that the Agoda site is very user friendly and the service is good. I arrived at the hotel about 45 minutes after booking and they already had the info so that was great! It was about 10pm and the restaurant and bar were closing, but they were nice enough to let me order food and then brought it to my room. The service was very good! The 2 best parts for me was having the Cafe Coffee Day on site. After traveling a few weeks in India already, good cappucinos can be hard to find. The other, most important, BEST part was the bed! The sheets were so soft and nice and the mattress was very good. It was also very nice to have the small fridge in my room to keep my drinking water cold. There were a couple of minor maintenence issues ,but they were dealt with right away.. and always with a smile. Very nice people, i enjoyed my stay a lot!

very friendly staff...always happy to help”

i had late check in at the hotel and was quite happy with the staff. Especially the guy named Nagaraj and Pavan. The two girls at the reception were also quite friendly and sociable. All staff seemed very happy to help customers and were quick in responding to queries and needs.

Comfortable stay, at a convenient location”

Hotel was very conveniently located and very easy to find. The rooms were well sized. However, they can improve on the Room services. There was no room service upto 11 AM.

Not the best but okay for the money”

Room was okay, not the cleanest bathroom but fine for one night. It was nice there was a fitness center but all the equipment was broken except the cheap stairstepper. It doesn't look like anyone in management has made an effort to maintain any of it. Breakfast was not included with my room - make sure you clarify this when you check in! I mistakenly thought it was included and then was told it was Rs. 184. Not worth it, in my opinion. Staff was friendly but generally incompetent and slow. I stayed in another Ginger and had a wonderful experience so my expectations may have been a little high for this one.

Nice friendly staff”

I liked the staff very much, all of them were very nice and helpful. Room was clean with everything functional. Breakfast was good. Food Choice at the restaurant was limited for the kids but overall food quality and quantity was excellent.

Subpar, disappointing, awful.”

Terribly made rooms with no ventilation (the windows are sealed shut). There is no reason for anyone visiting Pondicherry to stay at Ginger. Just be patient on finding better deals. I did get a late checkout by some 2 hours.

Basic Compliment Needs.”

Very diappointing with the stay as a minimum requirement dental kit is being charged and it's not part of the complimentry. Charging close to 16k and just a 100k - 200k dental / shaving kit is not being provided, which is not the standard of the chain of Ginger.

Factory/Institutional Type of Hotel”

Chennai has a lot of very expensive hotels, or hostels and guest houses. So I imagine this hotel is trying to find a position somewhere in between. It is new, and in India that is always a plus. But the hotel is more like a warehouse, or factory. We arrived and there were carts outside. We put our luggage on the cart and went inside to check in. There is a small book shop, and a fast food type restaurant in the lobby. At reception the young woman behind the desk didn't welcome us just asked for our Passports. No hospitality, or any sign of customer service. We asked about the wifi which is one of the reasons we chose this hotel over where we usually stay. She said yes, but it was such and such per day. Their website did not indicate that there was a charge. This now made the hotel much more expensive. We took our carts up to our room, yes there is one elevator, and the room was fine. Small, with one double bed, a desk for working, a small fridge and a flat screen tv on the wall. Overall comfortable and with high ceilings. Which made it difficult to cool. It appears the ac unit might be a bit too small. But after the heat outside not unbearable. The bathroom was clean, but the shower didn't drain very well. The soap dispenser in the shower was attached to the wall. Very institutional. But seems as though it would be good for business travelers.

Value for money. Although it's an old hotel & needs some maintenance. Staff were very friendly and polite. Facilities were good and it's economical.

student guesthouse or japanise small scale rooms”

all rooms are same dimension, very small, and designed to put maximum in minimum space, could be acceptable for a boat, but for an hotel they are not: no night table, 30cm distance from wardrobe, about 1m from air conditioner at bed level, no space other than the essential, noise coming from the hall/stairs pit, far from village center, breakfast and internet not included, no personnel assistance (you bring baggage yourself).
