If you like bright coloured places, clean, safe, with a balance of old and young guests, huge shared kitchen, a balcony from the kicthen area, close to the esplanade, the night market and in proximity with cafes/restaurants -look no further, you have found THE hostel for your stay In cairns. Stayed from 1-6 april. Loved it the moment i stepped foot in it. The night manager was friendly when i got to the hostel at night time. Came across some issues with my bookings which the managers quickly resolved for me. Could have stayed longer but Port douglas was calling :D

A fabulous hostel!”
A great hostel in a fantastic location! On the Esplanade super close to the lagoon and the marina (starting point of Great Barrier Reef tours). Staying there also gives you some discounts on food and drinks at nearby bars! The staff (especially Michelle) were incredibly friendly and helpful too!

I really enjoyed my 3 nights I stayed here in Cairns. As soon as I arrived I felt at home and welcome by the lovely staff and was able to check in early around 11.30 am. The room I had was a queen room and was really nice. I was on the floor where kitchen and belcony was which was handy. I booked a white water rafting tour through the hostel which was fun. I met some cool people at global and had a relaxed stay. The place is nice and clean and has everything you need. It is right in the action on the Esplanade where you want to stay in Cairns. I will be back next time in Cairns.

Great private accommodation at backpacker price”
I had not stayed in backpacker accommodation in the last 30 years but I must say Global packpackers is fantastic. I booked a private room for myself and 18 year old son on the recommendation of a friend. Fantastic private room with ensuite just across from the Cairns Lagoon and boardwalk. Best location you could ask for in Cairns CBD. Fantastic air conditioned room, comfy bed and spotless ensuite. Plus great wifi! At a bargain price under $100 a night The communal kitchen ( including walking cool room), indoor outdoor dining and lounge areas were fantastic!

Stayed in the private queen room which was value for money! Hostel has been renovated recently (think 2019 pre-COVID) and the room/beds were comfortable. Location was perfect being located right at the esplanade, but you do not have to worry about noises from the street as the rooms are located at the back of the building. Kitchen facilities were spot-on and the walk-in fridge was the largest I have seen in any hostel :)

Rooms can be very small but great location and facilities”
Right on the Esplanade, the views are amazing and you are at the boardwalk upon leaving the front door. Plenty of food options and a Woolsworth about 4 mins away. Big kitchen, great views from the rooftop. Toilets are clean and the seating areas outside of the rooms are pretty great to have. Only downside is that living in a 6-people mixed room, the rooms are TINY. There are no locker space and everyone's bags are everywhere, leaving to very little space to move about. Rooms can be very dirty too, depending on who you live with. Toiletries and towels are not provided (towels can be rented) but linen are (and you have to put it on yourself). Overall, if you can get yourself a single room or a smaller pax shared room, you've got yourself a very good deal in a hostel with an amazing location.

Have some rooms with private toilet and shower which doesn't cost too much. You can see the lagoon from the balcony because it's so close. The night market is also 2 meters away and there are a lot of restaurants close by

Need regualr clean-up”
Pros: 1. Good location 2. New and good facilities. 3. comfortable bed. Cons: 1. Looks they don't clean up the room. many dust and little rubbishes on the floor in the room. ( I found a small cockroach. ) 2. They close and lock the kitchen until 6 AM. So cannot use kitchen and even approach your food before 6 am. ( you should know this if you have to leave early morning. )

The best place to stay”
I have been here for two night on my holiday, and I wanted to stay more! The room was very clean and everything is brand new. The best location and viewing in the city, I could watch whatever I want on Netflix for free. They provided free breakfast from 7am to 9am, and when I got home I did not have to pay for Uber fare!! The staffs are really friendly, especailly thanks Ciara.

Stunning view and great location”
Hostel located right opposite of Esplanade Lagoon. Next to Mcdonalds and 3min walk to Woolworths. Receptionist Laura is so helpful and friendly. I'm in love with the 4th floor open concept kitchens and living area I spend at least 4 to 5 hours sitting there to watch sunrise or sunset. The only hostel in Australia I had ever stayed with seaview. Kitchen is huge and clean. The only thing is imperfect was housekeeping. I been staying for 4days and 3nights. The floor mat was dirty since the day I checked in and not changing until I checked out. I can only see the rubbish was thrown and toilet roll and towel were refills. But definitely I will be back!

Nick was nice to receive me past midnight arrival. i had a nice private queen room. the only stress i had was to switch on room light each time it goes off after 15-mins. Big community space with kitchen, cold room refrigerator, lounge area. Nice setup. the dining area has nice view of Esplanade Lagoon & beach. Easy to move around the vicinity. i have recommended this hostel to my friends who are going to visit Cairns. will be back soon
