About the disappointing services at Gokarna Forest
Here are my encounters. (1) We arrived shortly after 12:00 on December 17, 2016, but we were told that the check-in time was after 14:00. We had a walk then. However, the check-in time is clearly indicated as 12:00 both at your Agoda website and in the confirmation email. (2) They gave us a room near the open air court, where there has been an issuance company’s party. They made speeches for almost the whole afternoon through the loud speaker. More unfortunately, their BBQ supper was followed. We could not stand for smoky haze. So they moved us to a central room (Room 222) at a different wind direction. (3) However, this room was just above the stage of the BBQ party where people were singing and dancing. Anyone could imagine how noisy it was. (4) We had to walked here and there in the cold outside till 22:10 when the disco music was stopped. (5) when I tried to make bed, I found that one side of mattress functioned badly. That is, some springs inside were too loose and were not resilient at all. (6) They then changed a mattress, but this mattress was about 20cm narrower than the bed base. The guest may easily hit the bed base and get hurt. (7) It was my turn to make bed. Then I found about three coin sized stains on the duvet cover. Very disgusting. I thought that was semi solidified human liquid. No matter what it was, it was evident that the hotel had not changed it for the new guest! (8) We finally went to bed after 23:30. The workers started to disassemble and remove the stage outside at 6:30. It was big and sharp noise again. I had to go out and stop them at 7:00. So our stay at the 5-star Gokarna Forest Resort became a suffering. The hotel manager sent us to Hotel Yak & Yati by a complimentary car, but refused to make any refund due to the Nepal legal and taxation restrictions.

Quick get away
We decided to ride our bikes up to Gorkana from Kathmandu city which was not as scenic as we had hoped so I recommend getting a taxi. The indoor pool was quite nice and there are sauna's in both the male and female change rooms. Our room was really nice to relax in, especially the huge bathroom. If you decide to go on the nature walk around the grounds you must pay for a guide, which is totally necessary so as not to get lost. I recommend bringing long socks or waterproof boots as there are ALOT of leeches which can ruin the walk if you're not prepared.

Great place with many facilities, but quite expensive
The place is great, with beautiful forest views and nature around. Many facilities available as well (gym, pool, driving range, playground for kids, yoga lessons, etc.). Food is quite good also. It bothered us a little that almost everyone from the staff kept asking us how our experience was, and engaging in conversations on where we came from and how we were doing. Although appreciated at first, we felt the balance got a bit lost in the end. Staff was very helpful to book a last-minute flight with our credit card not working. Overall, the hotel is quite expensive, as are some of the facilities (for example laundry)

Exceptional
What a fantastic place. The staff is exceptional. The property is stunning- a world away from the chaos and grime of Kathmandu. The facilities are excellent and broad. There's no better place to stay in Nepal.

Out of town but green, quiet and best golf course in Nepal
Gokarna is the best golf course in Nepal. The resort has a Spa with pool and gym etc. Food is decent by Nepal standards and the rooms are large with reasonable hot showers.

Leave the city for a few days getaway!
Great spot to relax for a few days to unwind. Went on a beautiful walk through the forest and saw 10 lovely deer in the forest. Don't miss the forest walk. You can play golf if you want here or go to the driving range and hit a few balls for fun. Rooms were a good value for Nepal, good service.....

Loved it!
After a 15 day overland tour from New Delhi to Kathmandu, I spent a few days at Gokarna Resort relaxing and recharging. It was the perfect place to do this. Quiet with fabulous staff. Great breakfast was included and loved the forrest walk. Only downside was spa. I had one treatment where I felt rushed and completely anonymous. I had planned on a few more treatments, but didn't bother. Other than that, I loved the whole experience!
