Great comfortable stay, the manager is fantastic”
I stayed at the Golden Guest Inn with a friend for 2 nights at the beginning of our trip around Myanmar. The hotel manager, Tat Wynn, is really helpful with any directions or advice, he was always happy to help with any questions. The rooms are simple, but very clean. All of the staff are polite and friendly. The wifi is excellent & it ended up being the only place in Myanmar that we stayed at that had fast wifi! We really liked it here & appreciated the great deal of assistance that the manager gave us so much that we booked our last night in Yangon here as well instead of trying elsewhere. There are plenty of nice places to eat around that are super cheap, including the Leo Restaurant, which they will recommend. Taxis are always going past, so they are really easy to get also. All you have to do is walk out the front. You pick what you want for breakfast the night before & give them a time & it is prepared fresh in the morning for you, it is a good quality breakfast with good options. My only small gripe was a karaoke bar nearby that was a bit loud if you wanted to get to sleep early for early flights the next day, but they were usually quiet by 10pm-ish, so no great drama. I would highly recommend the Golden Guest Inn to anyone going to Yangon. We popped over to The Strand for high tea & the wifi was not good at all, so we were impressed with where we were staying. Make sure you take the manager's business card out as not all taxi drivers know where it is until you show them the card, but they all know Insein Road.

Great service”
Golden Guest Inn doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but what it lacks in flash it makes up for in everything else. Above all, the staff were excellent, especially Tat Wynn, the manager, who patiently answered all our questions and stayed up late (1am) so we could check in hassle-free after our flight from Beijing. I highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for an extremely reliable, safe and friendly place to stop over in Yangon or to use as a basecamp to head out and explore the city.

Very Friendly Family Home”
I had a lovely stay at the Golden Guest Inn. I only stayed one night but had a very comfortable night's stay there - the bed was very comfortable and it is in a very quiet area which was perfect after a very busy week exploring Myanmar! I had a flight at 6pm and since they did not have another guest coming to take my room until the evening, they said I could keep my bags in my room until I came back at 3pm to collect them - which was fantastic as I could get a shower before getting my flight :) The hotel is North of the centre and so you will need to get a taxi to the main attractions but even when I stayed in the centre of Yangoon, I still needed to get a few taxis so I don't think that is much of a problem - especially given that it is significantly cheaper than hotels in the centre of town and taxis are relatively cheap. A very homely choice :)

Great Place”
I loved everything about this place. It's located on busy Insein Road, but set back far enough that it’s not noisy. The expansive front garden is beautiful. The Inn is a large, colonial-style house with a dozen rooms. My room had high ceilings and smooth wooden floors. What's really special here is the service. Tat (“Ted”) and his family take service to another level. Friendly, knowledgeable, seemingly always on call for any question or request. Lots of convenient extras. Hot water, tea, and real coffee in the rooms for no extra charge. Free use of a high-tech clothes washer and iron. They'll arrange to have take-out good brought in, if the nearby offerings don't suit you or you just want to be catered to. Insein Road is not picturesque, but it's a slice of real Southeast Asian urban living. Yangon is one of the classic multicultural cities in the region and you see it close up in this neighborhood. About the only strike against the GGI is if you plan to make multiple trips downtown you'll have to suffer though the traffic jams along with everyone else. On the other hand, it’s very convenient to the airport. I've been coming to Yangon a few times a year recently and have been looking for smaller scale, friendly accommodations at a reasonable price as an alternative to mediocre Yangon hotels. This is just the sort of place I was hoping to find. A final plus is the excellent wifi service which is reliable and fast. I made several video calls on the internet and had not a single problem. Great place overall.

Best Trip Ever”
The Golden Guest was a fantastic hotel. On a map, it doesn't look like the closest hotel to major attractions, but it is removed from the traffic of downtown and so getting around from GG was probably faster than it would be from a downtown hotel. When I walked in, I was greeted very warmly by the staff, who all spoke very good English, but were still very much Burmese. All of them are from Burma, and it is owned by the Kin family, who were some of the first Burmese people who were allowed to own a hotel (rather than the government owning it). Each morning, they had breakfast ready for me, and each afternoon when I got home from traveling there was always two cold water bottles waiting in the fridge. Though it is a simple hotel, it was very comfortable, and the GG made me feel very welcome. The staff is willing and wanting to talk about Burmese culture, politics, religion, and answer any questions that you have about traveling. If there's anything that they don't know already, they stop what they are doing and look it up for you. The Golden Guest was not just a place to sleep at for me. It was a place that felt very much like home.

Quaint little hotel airport, wonderful owner!”
The Golden Guest Inn is a great choice for quick place to stay near the airport. About 10 minute taxi ride. The owner was really friendly and accommodating. He even woke up with us at 5am to make sure we could catch a taxi. One drove by right away, which is convenient for early AM flights. The rooms were basic, but great value for the money. Clean and overall quiet, although you could hear some outdoor noises at night. Shower was hot and there's coffee/tea/water in the room. AC worked great. Overall I'd definitely recommend!

comfortable stay in Yangon”
We had a good 1-night stay in Golden Guest Inn before boarding a plane out of Yangon. The owner spoke excellent English and was very helpful. The room is big and has tall ceiling with nice bathroom and shower. We enjoyed our stay.

Feel like at home, very comfortable and enjoyable”
I was skeptical about this hotel initially because of one bad customer review. However, I decided to stay here base on the overall good customer comments. I reach the hotel at 6.30Am early in the morning, the room I booked was unavailable as the customer had not checked out yet. The hotel staff upgraded me to a deluxe room without additional cost. The room are big and clean with aircond, WIFI, TV and Hot water. The room are quiet as the hotel has a big and nice garden, the room is far from the main road. The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful, they give good advise on interesting places to visit, where to get good food in Yangon. They also give me advise on how much is the taxi fare from one area to another, most of the taxi driver will charge the tourist at a higher price. The hotel is located at the center of Yongon in between the airport and the city center. It is very convinient to hire a taxi from the hotel. My stay in this hotel was a pleasant and comfortable, the friendly staffs make you feel like at home.

The room was spacious, clean and service excellent”
The family who own the hotel are charming and very helpful. They ensured everyone was comfortable and were always ready to help with advice on where to go and how to get there. The rooms were airy and clean and contained all necessities including a fridge and television. Taxis into town were readily available and staff always willing to find one quickly. I and my friend both much enjoyed staying at the Golden Guest Inn.

The best Value Hands Down!”
I've lived in Yangon for a little over a year, and GGI is by far the best hotel/inn I've encountered at this price range. Free coffee, tea, cold drinks, and unlimited water is all included in your room. Plenty of space for the kids to run around outside. Breakfast (if included in your package) is delicious. Hosts are very accommodating, and have 20 years of experience. Just note the location, if you want to spend the majority of your time downtown. But even with the additional distance, my guess is that you would find it worthwhile to stay here. Thanks so much, Ted!

Friendly Manager and staffs; clean room”
It was a pleasant stay in Golden Guest Inn. The manager is very friendly and helpful. We arrived late that night after midnight because of the late flight but they waited up for us and it was very fast to go through the check-in process. The room and bathroom is very clean, though the shower facility is not that up-to-dated which we don't complain about. The breakfast was lovely.I enjoyed my omelette and coffee. The manager helped us to buy the bus tickets to Bagan for free which we appreciated. Very attentive to answer all of our questions. I like their wooden tables and chairs in the dining room as well as the floor.High speed wi-fi. Highly recommend.

Family-run bed & breakfast”
Would definitely recommend anyone visiting Yangon to stay at the Golden Guest Inn. The family running the hotel is very friendly and approachable, and the son of the family speaks perfect English and will be happy to answer any questions addressed by travellers!

It's a home away from home”
A lovely place to stay in Yangon. It's a real home and guest house with such a "homey" feel and none of the sterility of a big hotel. It is spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the breakfasts (included) are wonderful. All the family speaks perfect English and are super helpful. Not far from the airport or the center of Yangon---with bus or taxi. And you'll meet other interesting guests there!

Very comfortable and clean”
A pleasant experience staying in this simple and comfortable hotel. The breakfast was simple and good. The room was comfortable and clean. I was able to get my work done on the net from my room. The staffs speak English and are friendly and will help in giving direction and advice. The staffs help me to order my dinner from a nearby restaurant and would bother to set up a nice setting for my pack in dinner. Transportation is easy from the hotel. The price is good compared to the many over-priced hotels in Yangon.

comfortable and friendly place”
We enjoyed our stay here. The Inn is by no means luxurious, but it is clean, comfortable, and friendly and it is a very good deal. The rate is quite reasonable for Yangon (surprisingly expensive hotels) and although it is not located in a walking area, there are tons of taxis available and it is easily accessed. We really enjoyed talking to the owner who is a highly educated man who came back to take over the family business. We had a really lovely stay.

Golden Guest Inn”
This is a lovely colonial type building full of character. We were greeted upon arrival by Ted the manager who made us feel immensely welcome. He was so helpful in assisting us with travel arrangements, places to eat, and bartering ! He also helped translate words into Burmese to ease our journey south from Yangon. Very comfortable guest house with thoughtful touches and an amazing breakfast well worth the money we paid for it. Thank you Ted for your kindness and the rest of the family too ! Sally & Gordon from England.

Excellent service, very clean”
We got in around midnight and were welcomed in once someone came to unlock the gate. We ordered our breakfast for the next morning before going to bed. Our room was large and while not luxurious, clean and comfortable. There was a clothes drying rack that was quite useful and our own hot water heater for the shower. This was our first hotel and turned out to be the only one, in 16 days in Myanmar, to have hot water for every shower. The family who run this place really make it special. They ordered our bus tickets for us and had them delivered, as well as directing us to a travel agent to arrange our trip to Ngapali. You do need to take taxis to get most places, but with attractions so spread out in Yangon, that's true most places and most taxi rides are only about $3-4. They have cards with directions to the hotel printed in Burmese, which is very helpful for taxi drivers. One night, our AC unit wasn't working well. We reported it at breakfast and by the time we returned that afternoon, the unit had been replaced. Highly recommended.

Friendly and efficient”
Golden Guest Inn operates with a friendly efficiency that takes care of your needs with simplicity and unobtrusiveness. It is surprisingly quiet, set-back from a very busy street and not far from the airport. There's not much to see close by but its a short taxi ride to anything in the northern part of Rangoon, including good restaurants - its now a little far from downtown given there's so much traffic. Being a family run hotel the appointments are simple - so its not the place if you're looking for swimming pools, shopping or kicking back in a lounge - or fast wifi (yet). However, you will experience typical Burmese grace and friendliness, like a guest in a family home.

Friendly host, nice environment and reliable WiFi”
Great! I felt pretty much at home here with the friendly and helpful host and his family. The environment is very green and makes it an oasis in the middle of the busy city of Yangon. Since I was on a business trip, the WiFi served me well, especially in a city like Yangon whereas WiFi is not easily available. Breakfast is good with reasonable choices.
