Decent bungalows in a quiet area
Quiet area, relatively clean, swimming pool
Golden Hill Bungalow is a very decent place to stay for a few night. It's in a more quiet area, but still only a short walk from the action. The bungalow is clean but the bathroom wasn't sealed properly allowing some insects to enter the bungalow. But I guess this is to be expected on a tropical island. The swimming pool is a nice plus and the value for money is good (for Ko Phi Phi peak season)

Glad we only stayed one night
None
The first problem was getting there, we started walking up the wrong steps to the viewpoint- not very easy to find. When we arrived we had to pay an 800 baht deposit for the key - we have not had to do this anywhere else in thailand The room didnt feel very secure - someone could easily get in due to gaps by the window. There were weird bugs on the cupboard that .made a nest under the plastic cover of our battery pack. So we slept in our sleeping bag liner after spraying it with bug proof and putting deet on ourselves and used an electronic repellent. The shower was cold and there was a rock to stand on to use it. There was a bit of noise from neighbours but stopped at a decent time. Couldnt use the pool as it was brown and in the process of being cleaned. Couldnt get wifi in the bungalow. Also very overpriced for what it is ; most expensive place we stayed in thailand and also the worst, glad it was only for one night.

Horrible location but decent rooms
The pool
This hotel is on the other side of the island and is a bit of a mission to get to. Once I had made my way through the island I had to climb a hill to get to the hotel. The rooms are mainly located off the ground and the stairs are very steep. In fact one actually broke on our way up. I would not recommend anyone to stay here unless you are a group of boys. Walking back to this room at night as a girl could not be so safe.

Nice bamboo bungalow
Quiet place, swimming pool
Simple equipped bamboo bungalows with fan. The room was clean and good enough. The place is quiet and close to all the rush of Tonsai. We were satisfied with this stay.

Standard room but in the middle of nowhere
Quiet
standard bungalow with a fan, not sure the fan really did its job as it was hotter inside the room than outside...weird! cold shower sorted that out though. location isnt great, its about a 10/15 minute walk to all the bars and restaurants and up quite a few stairs. for the seasoned traveler who has seen their fair share of dingy accommodation this should be acceptable, but if your only there for a night or two and want to enjoy phi phi to its fullest, look elsewhere closer to the centre, probably with aircon!

quiet location
nice pool, friendly english speakig owner
Nice enough though after a few days in the fan bungalow i needed a hot shower. This place is best if you want to be away from the party noises. only 5 mins walk from all the action if youre fit.

Simple bungalows with a nice atmosphere
The pool!
We arrived at Phi-Phi island and instantly got in touch with the other travellers. Phi-Phi is a party island so I wouldn't recommend to go there with children. The staff was helpful and the rooms were clean and simple. The steps from the tourist village up to Golden Hill are quite exhausting, but at least you are safe from tsunamis.

Nice staff... Terrible customers
Very decent staff
this place is a bit up a hill and away from the crowds. anywhere else in thailand it would be called overpriced, but in phi phi everything is way overpriced and for what you get the prices here are fine. i had two problems. i wanted a place with wifi in the rooms which golden bungalows advertises itself as having. this is not actually the case. the wifi works well only in the small restaurant in the front and around the pool. it does not work in the rooms. the restaurant could also do with some floor fans since it gets very, very hot there.... i was amazed that there weren't a few around. the other problem is not the fault of the hotel but is a problem of fellow guests. the hotel has a nice little swimming pool and they maintain it well, which is a real plus at this end of the price range. it is is closed at 9pm though when the staff knock off work. a 4am in the morning when the bars in town close vast hordes of noisy teenagers (from this hotel and others) having consumed their buckets of battery acid and farley's rusks descend on this little pool (despite it being roped off with a 'pool closed' sign) and continue the party.... all at a high screeching volume. i booked this place because i thought its location meant it should be quiet.... i hadn't counted on the after hours, spotty, squawking, high-school-kids-from-hell. if you find yourself in a poolside room, i suggest you bring a shotgun.... unless you are actually one of the poolside party children (seemingly weirdly transplanted from spring break in daytona beach, florida), in which case you should do the world a favour and blow your own brains out. the thai staff in golden bungalows are very friendly and efficient, especially considering what they have to put up with from the guests, the reception staff being exceptionally pleasant.... the owners are english and i also found them to be very helpful and friendly... and long suffering.
