Oasis of tranquility with excellent service”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Golden Lake View Boutique Resort. The children had a great time wandering around on the resort grounds. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and even arranged a wonderful dinner at our own terrace overlooking the lake with its lilies and birdlife. The resort is a bit isolated, so you should preferably have your own means of transport. The manager has a good knowledge of English and also the restaurant has a menu in English. Extremely good value for money.

if you look for one place totally to relax, the resort is a good place. You may enjoy the lake view, swimming, bicycling, or row a boats all complimentary with the hotel. Must try the Thai food from the hotel. simply authentic and yummy with reasonable price. As the location is far from the downtown. call a taxi and begin with a pleasant stay.

a real retreat”
This little resort is 30 KM out of Kanchanaburi and along winding rural roads that is quite a trek, especially if you don't have your own vehicle. We felt this was part of the adventure, but at 500THB each way for additional (songthaew) transport this does add to the cost of your holiday - especially if you are planning to stay for several days. I would recommend it more for people with access to their own transport - or if you are dependant on public transport as we were then just stay for a night or two so your exploration budget doesn't get too costly. As previous guests had noted the breakfast does appeal more to Thai tastes (instant coffee, white bread, fried eggs and hot dog sausages)however the very friendly staff are willing to make an omelette with tomato and ham if you ask. We, having read the reviews, packed a little hand filter and brought our own ground coffee which was a welcome addition for us! The one big positive for us was the lovely lily pond which was teeming with local birds. In the two days we stayed we managed (with a pair binoculars and a field guide to Thai birds) to spot: bronzed winged jacanas; white throated kingfishers; Chinese pond herons; cattle egrets; little cormorants; green bee eaters and red whattled lapwings. Overall I would be happy to recommend this resort and having stayed in central Kanchanaburi several times we relished this unique little retreat.

If you're staying in the area for golf or whatever, Golden Lake View is worth checking out! The staff was very friendly and helpful (even playing with our baby to give us a chance to eat), the food was good, and the place was beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay.

Friendly staffs, great view and wonderful food”
It is a bit of challenge to locate the resort coming from Bangkok for the first time. However, once we made it to the place and checked in, we knew we made the right choice. The place is very relaxing and the attentive staffs made us really feel welcomed. The rooms are reasonably clean and comfortable. It is not overly easy to get around Kanchanaburi from the resort but it is positively manageable. The food in the resort is in our opion one of the best in the area after we had tried many reputable restaurants around. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return again soon.

quiet and relaxing but needs a touch ups...”
Golden Lake Boutique Resort is located 30km from the center of Kanchanaburi, so if you don't have your own transport then don't stay here as there is no shuttle service available either!! The resort is very small and all the rooms look out over the lake. The water in the lake was very low!! but still it was nice and peaceful. The rooms/villas do need some care and attention. There were some cleaning issues!! The sink was cracked and the air con unit in our room started leaking after an hour or so using it. The best thing about the resort though is the staff. They are very friendly but very limited with english speaking...although i do speak Thai so it wasn't an issue for me. They prepared dinner for us (7 people) the night before check out which was FANTASTIC!!! Although the resort has some maintenance problems i would stay here again because of the staff...and for any golfers reading this, Evergreen Hills GC is only 1km away and is a very good golf course.

Relaxing hotel ”
It was a beautiful hotel. Great for couples and families. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The hotel is not easy to find at all, even with a GPS. It is right beside evergreen golf course(1 KM). I would suggest using that as your point to find rather then the hotel. We could not find it at night and missed our first night. The hotel staff were amazing trying to help us along the way and stayed up into the late hours of the night. They also comped us for our first night we missed. I would highly endorse this place for a relaxing weekend in Kanchanaburi. It would be great for a weekend away for golf or for a weekend with some biking and views of the country side.

A lot to improve”
First of all: book only one night. You don't want to stay longer. Why? The hotel has a few major drawbacks. First of all: it is about 30 km away from Kanchanaburi. There is nearly no transportation from the city. In the near vicinity there are no inviting places to eat. The food in the hotel is good, with vegetables from their own garden. We made the mistake to book, without realizing that it would be a problem to find transport. We could rent a motorbike from one of the workers. A very nice gesture. But after driving to some ruïnes nearly 60 km from the resort, we had two flat tires. There was no profile on the tires. The guy who rented the bike to us wanted 600 baht from us to be picked up. We didn't agree and held him responsible for the bad tires. Normally we would have fixed them, but it was a public holiday and the shops closed. So we took the train to Kanchanaburi and rented a good Honda PCX150 for 300 baht a day. Breakfast: 1st day was a small buffet. It was weekend and around 20 guests. The second day: American breakfast. Next day again. As we were the last guests, the breakfast was already prepared, the eggs cold. Coffee and toast as much as there was. Some rooms have a theme. We had the maharaja room (A1). I didn't notice, only after the owner proudly explained this to us. The rooms were clean and fresh, every time we came back from a trip. The drawback: above the entrance door there was a gap of more then a centimeter. Big enough for flies and mosquitos to get in. Balcony doors with view on the lake were sealed of with a tape, so we couldn't sit on the balcony. Many things around the hotel are broken. Behind the big bathtub or tiny pool was a broken wooden construction. A small artificial river without fish. It looked rundown. The sauna seemed to be closed. Many parts of the buildings were damaged or broken. With the best of intention, for the price (4960 baht for three nights) we could have had better deals near the city! Staff: very friendly a

Beautiful place, cozy & romantic in a value price”
We drove from Bangkok, actually the distance from the main road is shorter than the website informed, it's about only 15KM and not difficult to be founded as the resort is located just next to a golf course. We discovered a resort between a very beautiful almosphere mountain and city, with a big lovely lotus lake. We were welcomed from a lovely lady and everything was smooth. The room is very cozy and nice, lake mountain & swimming pool view from big windows in the room. The food wasn't much yummy and impressive as other things. We spent some time with table tennis provided and jacuzzi in a small pool.

The rooms are quite run down but the environment really pay that off. Overall, i think its quite a good place to stay for those who are looking for quiet and peaceful stay. The rooms are overlooking the lake which provides magnificent view during sunset. The staff are attentive and friendly.

Peace, in the middle of nowhere”
The place is literally in the middle of nowhere, you need a car to get there. The little lake must look good in the rainy season or soon after, but in July it was a bit of a marsh. I liked the fact that I could unleash my dog on the grass, which in Thailand is a rare luxury. What was really annoying were the midgets that kept coming to my face. I've lived in Thailand for 7 years, but I've never felt so pestered by bugs while reading outside.

Incredibly homely and amazing value”
Stayed for three nights in deluxe lakeside room which was much nicer than many rooms I’ve stayed in costing a lot more. It’s a super relaxed place with peddleboats, table tennis, a cute swimming pool, bicycles. I’d recommend guests have their own car as it’s quite isolated but the tranquility and birdlife is part of its charm. And the delicious food is home cooked with fresh vegetables from the garden. The staff were so kind hearted and helpful - I can’t praise this place enough.
