Very nice place, very helpful staff”
Long story short, we had mistakenly made a booking starting/ending one day earlier, but the people at the guest house accepted us for the days we really wanted to stay without any extra payment (after a few hours with some difficulties in communication, but let's not be ungrateful). :) Very nice room(standard), great breakfast in a really nice terrace (European or Asian), free tea and bottles of water every day... Great value for money. Location is not very central, but it is near Old Bagan and right across a store with e-bikes, so very convenient. However I think that if you intend to stay more than two days in Bagan, New Bagan is a better choice than Nyaung-U, because you see and interact better with the locals... Only negative I have to mention is that even though the people at the hotel help me travel directly to Mindat, the cost was too much for the specific trip (20.000 kyats). However in this way we didn't have to travel independently to Pakokku in the first morning hours to catch the morning mini vans, plus the overall behaviour of the staff was very good as I said, so we just booked it.
Lovely place and great staff and owner”
I came on a night bus so arrived before sunrise. Managed to get into the hotel and leave my bags quickly and rent an e bike to go for sunrise. The owner even let me grab breakfast at the place. Really enjoyed the rice breakfast with different pickles they served to mix with. Then managed to have an early check in and rested in my room from 9. The price is very good here, maybe it’s not the most amazingly renovated place but you can’t complain as it’s got everything you need as location is although in Nyaung U it’s closer to Old Bagan and all the main pagoda attractions only 10min drive with e bike (because I’m not super fast) to the famous Ananda temple and close to some good sunrise and sunset spots. They have everything from bike rentals, e bike rentals to a lovely rooftop breakfast place. Already recommended to some fellow travellers and if I’m back in bagan would like to stay here again.
Recommended place in Bagan”
I really happy staying here. The owner are very helpful, very nice, also the staff. Thet help us for rent the e-bike, they also give us free map and show us the best place for enjoying sunset and sunrise. And also, they provide us free mineral water bottle if we need more. The location also amazing, located in Nyaung U, close to almost temples in Bagan, also close to many place to eat cheap, and also the market. I also want to say that it's better to stay in Nyaung U than in New Bagan. The breakfast also very good, they give us 2 choice, rice or bread, both are very good.. Surely will stay here again if we visit Bagan next time, and will recommend this place to our friends. Anyway, thank you...
Great location, marvelous service and good environment!!!”
I arrived Bagan at 5:30am, but when I arrived at the hotel, the staff let me check in cause they had free room, and the boss asked me to have breakfast even I hadn’t check in!! That made me touching a lot!! The staff can’t say English very well, but they tried to help me and gave me lots of suggestions!! The location of the hotel is great, and on the opposite you can rent the e-bike; The service of the hotel is excellent, especially for the breakfast, on the top of the hotel is a garden for breakfast, so good! The environment of the hotel is good, 24 hours hot water, WiFi is ok, and room is clean. I’ll absolutely choose the Golden Rose Hotel if next time I come to Bagan!!!
Splendid experience with friendly owners.”
I booked a room for 3 of us for 2D1N stay in Bagan and the experience with Golden Rose was definitely splendid. 1) Friendly owner allowed us to check in early at 6am (yes, you didn't read wrongly, it's 6am) and even told us to head for breakfast on the rooftop despite the fact that our complimentary breakfast was only booked for the following day. 2) Fabulous and hearty breakfast with 2 distinct choices for travellers to enjoy either the local flavour (rice with side dishes) or an American style breakfast. Not to mention that there were complimentary samosa(deep fried pastries with curry filling), fruits and free flow drinks. 3) Well equipped room with the basic facilities such as television, hot shower, and aircon. Room was clean and neat. 4) Convenient location with good food places around such as Shwe BBQ restaurant (directly opposite the guesthouse) and Harmony BBQ that is highly patronised by locals.
Exceptional place, value for money”
Rooms were very well maintained. Toilet was very clean. I would like to especially commend Mr Kyaw from Golden Rose Guest House who is an outstanding staff. He is very detailed in his explanation of directions and his recommendations of good places for sunrise and sunset.
The guest house seems to run like a family business. Room was simple but the staff were very nice and they made everything to make you feel like home. Will miss their kindness. The location is a bit outside Nyaung-U towards Old Bagan which I preferred because it saved you from the hustle of town. There is e-bike rental at the restaurant just in front of the guest house. I only joined one breakfast and opted to local menu which was delicious.
It was a great stay at Golden Rose. The room is great with clean and comfortable bed, hot shower and air-con. The breakfast is really impressed. The owner and staff are very nice and helpful. The location is good. Shwezigon Pagoda and many nice restaurants in walking distance, cycle to old Bagan area is not hard (even I just ride bicycle instead of e-bike).
Lovely family owned & run hotel. The staff makes your stay very pleasant.”
Golden Rose is a lovely family-owned & operated hotel located between Nyaung-U and Old Bagan just off of Lanmadaw Road (of of the two main roads in Bagan. The lobby is bright & sunny and my room (located on the ground floor) was spacious & clean. Mr Small (front desk manager) made all the arrangements for e-bike rental & delivered / picked up at the hotel, bus ticket reservation and various excursions. Western & Myanmar breakfast is provided on their rooftop (3rd floor). Bagan has over 2,000 pagodas and I recommend you explore with an E-bike. My personal favorite for sunrise & sunset is a medium size pagoda just 10 minutes up the road on the left called Shwe Leik Too (the small wooden road sign reads Shwe Lake).
Great location with beautiful rooftop garden”
The guesthouse is located in Nyaung-U, near Shwezigon Pagoda and just a few minutes ride (e-bikes) from Old Bagan, so you can basically visit everything in town. It looks simple from outside but features a beautiful rooftop garden inside, where you can enjoy breakfast in the warm sunlight. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Wifi was not good though.
Good value for money and well located.”
We stayed there 3 nights, after the first night in a ground floor room with no natural light we were about to change to a different hotel but they accomodated us in a room on the first floor with two windows that changed everything. There is a place in the corner were you can rent e-bikes and Nyaung U dining area is just 10 min walk. The breakfast is absurdly huge. We skipped lunch the 3 days. The staff is welcoming and helpful. Is a really good place to stay to visit Bagan.
Was best trip in Bagan”
Can I rate 11/10 ? It's more than I expected, firstly they charge hotel stay was reasonable price, secondly they have e bike rental service, price was very reasonable, this is my first experience riding with bike, before this i only drive car. It was great trip for me riding bike on Bagan, and also rent out for Sunrise. I have great sunrise view, weather is pleasant. I recommend you not to rent bycicle when in bagan, because the road not really flat at all even the sand. There are too many temples have to visit. Hotel room is clean, have toiletries. Air-conditioning work fine. Lastly is the free breakfeast was great, it's traditional Burmese style food, so many food can be eat.
Great staff, clean facilities and massive breakfast! ”
We stayed here 3 nights and absolutely loved golden rose!!! Saw Yan Nuang works at the front desk and he speaks very good English. He was super helpful in booking trips, recommendations, and even helped us contact our next hotel staff. Breakfast was absurdly big and was enough food for breakfast and lunch. We found the location perfect!
Nice location to visit Bagan”
Triple room on the third floor clean and enough. when we arrived we were annoyed by a strong smell from the kitchen which was just next to our room but finally for the next days it was ok. a bit overpriced for what it is, but that's Bagan maybe. didnt like the local food for breakfast -almost all tasted like fish. the egg and toast breakfast was ok. nice garden rooftop for breakfast. ebikes were cheaper in the hotel next door (6000kyat instead of 8000). staff friendly. but didn't clean the room even when I asked for it. but allowed early check-in. Good location to visit Bagan and Nyaung oo. not that many restaurants close to the hotel.
Friendly owner, comfortable stay, worth the money”
The owner is very friendly. We had an overnight bus from Yangon and requested to check in early. Although there isn't any room available for us when we arrived, the owner arranged us to have a shower in a special room (which looked like his own guest room) and arranged for an early check in at 10am once the room is available. There is also a showeroom available for the guest to shower before the night bus (as most bus depart to other states from Bagan is an overnight bus). The breakfast is included during the stay which has an option of rice with side dishes or toast with eggs. Overall, it is a very pleasant and will definitely come back again.
Room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Make sure to try the rice with side dishes at least once—so good! They also provide a large helping of fruit. This is the only place I've stayed at in Myanmar that generously provided free bottles of water. The staff was very helpful as well—even though I didn't purchase my onward bus ticket from them, they helped me to call the bus company to make sure I'm picked up from the guest house. WiFi is spotty, but that's not a big deal to me. Overall a great place to stay.
Very helpful owner and staff”
i took for the road as soon as I arrived Bagan from YGN. This was around 630 in the morning. The owner, who was at the front desk at that time offered me a room despite arriving earlier than check in time. He also offered me an e-bike which I can rent for the entire day at 8USD. I did not waste time, I took for the road to catch sunrise over the temples. After visiting some temples, I went to this quite new temple a few meters away to take photos. As I was about to head off, a dog started barking which attracted a few more (around 3 more) until all of them started barking and coming close. In my panic, I rushed for the e-bike and a dog attacked and bit me. I managed to drive off a few distance away only to be thrown off the bike due to loose sand in the area. I fell off the bike twice (and my phone fell unnoticed). I rushed back to hotel to ask help which owner offered. He called a friend to drive me back to the temple then to a hospital for anti-rabies and tetanus shots. SO THANKFUL
Simple guesthouse, exceptional hospitality ”
I stayed here for 2 days while visiting Bagan, and it wasn’t long before my impression of this humble accommodation was elevated by the kind hospitality of the owner here. During the first day, i fell from the Ebike and couldn’t really walk. He brought me to the hospital, provided crutches free of charge, checked in constantly to make sure I’ve eaten and offered me food if I hadn’t, and even the staff are really friendly and always ready to help/talk to you. Breakfast is a choice between western and Asian food, and I was impressed that they cook your choice of food on the spot and in individual portion, ensuring that the food is still hot. Dining area on the top floor is pretty nice and relaxing too. I came during monsoon season and the only thing that might be annoying are mosquitoes but the ones in the room at least , can be get rid of with mosquito spray which you can ask for at reception. Overall, it was a really great experience, not only for accommodation but also to experience some local Burmese hospitality. I would definitely come here again if I visit Bagan :)
If I could rate this guest house higher, I would :)”
Our group arrived at Bagan early in the morning. When we arrived at the hotel, there are already 2 available rooms for us to check-in (we booked 3 rooms in total) so that was a major relief since we booked a tour the very same day and we want to take a shower before heading out, and the owner also gave us free breakfast on our arrival! There's also free large bottle of water each day (you can probably get more, just ask the reception). Across the street is a small restaurant which serves local curry plus tons of side dish. You can also rent your e-bike there. On our last day, the owner provided our group one spare room where we can freshen up (this room is outside of our booking, and we just needed to freshen up before we head back to Yangon). Definitely can say the people here are some of the kindest we've met. Overall, our stay here was extremely pleasant.
Fantastic place, wonderful location”
Location: this hotel is one of the closest to Old Bagan. City Centre in Bagan is just one lane and that too is very near. Staff: Super. Facilities: They have everything in the room, from aircon to wifi coverage. And they can arrange eBike for you. The best part was breakfast. The place got a rooftop arrangement for breakfast. Eggs, toasts, coffee, juice, fresh fruits. I tried to extend for another night but they were fully booked. Not surprised at all. If I ever go back to Bagan, this will be my place of stay.
