Friendly staff and tasty cocktails”
The hotel is right on the beach, only a short walking distance to several restaurants and shops. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Great location ”
Pros: The staff are very lovely and helpful. The hotel is right on the beach, only walking distance from shops, tea cafes and restaurants. Cons: I was in room 101 which was very pleasant but I felt secluded from all the other guests as I had no1 near me. I've also heard chanting from outside my window which was a bit scary. Not sure what was being said as I don't speak the language. Although there's 24hr staff on reception and local police, there aren't any doors at the entrance to stop random people from walking off the road. Also the office where you pay for your hotel expenses, shows which room each guest are in. Other than that, I've throughly enjoyed my stay.
Bath room and shower need cleaning - mild growing on shower wall and soap holder, water around toilet on floor
it has a beautiful beachfront vista from the rooms with balcony. however, compared to other countries ive stayed in, the prices were a little less competitive. the big quiet beach is right on the doorstep. very good deck chairs are provided. however, there were many birds/crows and a few of the deck chairs were riddled with bird poop. you run the small risk having your food eaten by the crows and chipmunks on the property. a little far (10min walk) from the touristy bars and beach cafes on negombo. a 200rp tutuk ride takes you into the main town as well. surprisingly near the airport at colombo.
Nice beach, friendly staff”
We stayed here one night before leaving early the next morning for our flight. Although it took us a while to find the hotel in our taxi, we were greeted with cool towels and a welcome drink. The lobby is beautiful as was the view from our room. We had a huge balcony that ran the length of the restaurant roof below. Although there are signs of wear and tear in the room, it was clean. Wifi/AC/hot water etc. worked well. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Nice fairly large strip of green grass between hotel building and beach for kids to run around on. Pool was perfect for an early evening swim. Overall we enjoyed our stay and wish we had had more time to enjoy the place.
Nice beach hotel”
Nice beach BUT sadly the people selling on the beach will not leave you alone, Nice food A little boring restaurant, should have more beach view seats and specially bar seats. One problem is you have to reserve tables and sunbeds early if not no left (full with retired people reserving everything all day but only use for short time) Most staff wonderful, some boring staff in restaurant. One big minus, very noisy rooms. they play music in the evening in the restaurant and you hear it clearly in your room
Relaxing by the pool”
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights to relax after a 8 week camping trip through Africa and it did not disappoint. The cleaning staff and the gardeners need to be congratulated for doing an amazing job always with a smile on their face. The wait staff were friendly and the food was nice. Breakfast was a good selection. Management need to look at educating the front desk and reception area on how to properly greet customers as NO imfomation was given about the hotel, restaurant, pool or surrounding area. No smile just bored faces not very welcoming. The room was comfortable, great shower and movies on the TV.
Nice End to an Amazing Holiday in Sri Lanka”
We enjoyed our stay here. Staff was friendly, pool was great. There are birds around the general beach area (ravens, so this is something you'd find at any hotel in Negombo. This hotel is on the outskirts of many high price and touristy places. easy walking distance so not too far, but there's also some smaller shops and family-owned restaurants. Best choice in Negombo. We were there with our 23m old daughter who loved it.
Nice hotel, competes well with Jetwings”
Great hotel. Didn really like Sri Lanka but this hotel saved the holiday. Its on a nice beach with the beach sellers kept at a distance. Go for the cabana room, they are definitly worth the extra / beside the pool
I stayed with Goldi Sands hotel for two days, found it good hotel with a very good location, it is near the beach and the staff are friendly the have a lovely smile The room was very nice and big, the restaurant also was good and have many goo dsortsof food
Lovely stay at Goldi Sands”
We were surprised on arrival to have a room without a balcony but upgraded to a sea view room for $10 per night. Well worth it. Good room , good staff, nice breakfast and nice size swimming pool. Friendly chipmunks visited us regularly. Plenty of tuktuks available to go down to the main strip. Particularly enjoyed the food in Sherry land just down the road. All in all a lovely holiday
Good value for money for a transit stop”
We stayed in the Goldi Sands for one night as our party were travelling to Sri Lanka from different places. It was very good value for money. We had chosen the value non-seaview rooms so obviously did not have a view. But the rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly. The location is good - it is close to other resorts and restaurants, should you want to eat outside.
A warning to all person who are booking on line, if the room you book is a standard room. Don't book it as it is a dog box with no view. I had to pay extra to get a room with beach front view on my arrival. Otherwise great place to relax. Chris from Australia.
Good enough for price.”
This is a fairly good hotel in an area full of them. We did buy a cheap room with no sea view but basically there was no view at all unless you count corrugated roofs, although these could only be seen when you opened the frosted glass, metal bar covered windows! Food was decent enough. The pool area was fine and beach pleasant, despite many hawkers trying to sell you their wares. Staff on the whole were pretty friendly. Adequate for a stopover.
This hotel was nice, but expensive for what it is. The WIFI is non-existent, so if you need to check in to flights or do anything online before you fly out, forget it. We did not get any wifi for our entire stay. Refreshment and meal service is very slow. There are cheaper hotels and villas in Negombo, eg Jetwing Blue just 100 m down the road. There are also many decent restaurants within 500 meters of the hotel. Wouldn't recommend.
We stayed for 1 night, arriving directly from the airport. We did not want to get into traffic jammed Colombo. This was an excellent decision. As the room was ready for us already at 11am (we landed 9am at the airport). Terrific! Thanks a lot! Clean and spacious room. We felt really good and had a relaxed day at the beach and the hotel. A perfect start into our 2 week vacation in Sri Lanka. Taxi ride from the airport was smooth. No traffic jams. We did not pre-arrange the taxi, but booked on at the official taxi counter at the airport. 1.600 SLR. The beach itself is a bit less nice then the pure "holiday" beaches in the south. We would definitively book the hotel again. Thanks a lot for giving us a great time!
Great place to relax”
The layout and facilities of this hotel make it a great place to relax in and enjoy. The ground floor lobby, restaurant and bar is open to the air. The restaurant and bar face out directly to rows of palm trees, broad beach and open ocean. You can sit in the shade of the palm trees, watch the wooden outrigger sailing boats plying the sea for fish, sip cocktails and take an occasional dip in the pool or ocean (though it's not a great swimming beach). The rooms are clean and well presented. There is a buffet dinner each night which we didn't find it to be impressive or good value, but there are lots of restaurants nearby. If in Negombo, I would certainly choose to stay again.
Clean hotel Close to the airport”
We stayed at Goldi Sands because it was close to the airport and had a pool and beach access. We found the beach access to be above average and the pool to be great for our daughter. The food was great and service was top notch which was great for our daughter who doesn't travel well. We will definitely be back!
The overall rating is 8/10 for the Goldi Sands Hotel!!”
The location was great and has a nice sunset. The room was good and pleasant. A/C,shower,TV all worked fine. Toiletries are rich and good. The bed,bed linen, towels, sofa were very clean and well maintained. The pool was very nice however it wasn't clean properly. Daily housekeeping was good and on time. The Food was delicious. The restaurant is good. Specially the chefs, crew members were really friendly always with a smily face. Siri Nimal chef was really careful about my child and food. Thank you and hope to visit again :)
1)Too many crows & their droppings around the swimming pool 2)Staff were polite in general, however, some of them were overzealous in executing their tasks, eg persisted to wait in our room to collect our luggage for checkout though we have repeatedly told him that we were not ready to leave the room yet; another staff also stood outside our room waiting to mop the floor , all these had happened at around 9.20am before the hotel's official checkout time . Having said the above, the stay in this hotel was comfortable in general.
