Slightly overrated”
Ambience, location.
Soriewool is in a great area - close to Gyeongbokgong the palace. But it is tucked away in a small alley, making it hard for cab drivers to find at first. While the hanok gives a taste of traditional Korean accomodation, the rooms are not very well equipped. For instance, our room doesn't have a kettle and cups, making it not very pleasant in the freezing winter. it also wasn't cleaned properly when we arrived. Plus, rooms cannot be locked so we were a bit concerned about security. Our room faces the street and can be a bit noisy in the morning. The owners are very helpful though. They were very responsive with emails, and kind in helping us find directions around. All in all, I'd say it's an interesting experience to have, but may not be my first choice of accommodation.

Location, comfort, people
The stay at Soriwool Hanok Guesthaouse has been very comfortable and the location is top for visiting the city. The room was cosy and the staff very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed very much the atmosphere of a traditional corean home. Thank you to all the people there that made our stay unforgettable!

Humble, simple local experience”
Novelty experience, near to vicinity sights
Stayed at a single room. Room is small, enough for a large suitcase to open comfortably. Went during the winter and unfortunately floor heating was not working/switched on. But there's a space heater that warms up the room after some time. To get to the room, you need to literally climb up into the room. Funny experience but can be difficult if you have heavy luggage. The housekeeper is a friendly old lady who has friends visiting her each day so it feels like you're really living with a real korean family. Didn't sleep the night though cos had trouble with late night cabs to send me to the hanok - cabbies might not recognize the area or it's hard to go to the place since it's located in a quiet inward alley beside the palace area. But a good experience to live as if in olden times. Might not be recommended for those expecting super comfortable or luxurious accommodations.

Good traditional experience ”
Ondol, traditional experience
Stayed here for 3 nights. It was a good traditional experience with well heated up rooms. The toilet and room are pretty small, enough for 2 luggage and 2 mattresses. Didn't really have a good experience with the male owner. He seemed a little petty and watched us carefully. Wouldn't stay here again as there were a lot more traditional Hanoks around the area.

Nice cultural experience”
Friendly owner, well-maintained, Well-heated
We went to stay here during winter time and it was unexpectedly that we didn't feel cold in the hanok as it is well-heated with room heated. The floor was also well heated and insulated. It was quite nice to sleep and cuddly under the thick blanket provided. Our room has individual toilet facilities but the bathing heater is not very good and the thermostat turns off the hot water supply intermittently every min. It left us feeling very cold throughout our bath during the cold winter.

Unique experience living in an authentic hanok ”
experience, location & location
The hanok is located in a quiet corner within the busy Anguk area, with lots of interesting shops & cafes within walking distance. Although the hanok may be difficult to find at first, it is less than 10 mins walking distance from the metro once you are familiar with the directions. The owners are friendly, and the rooms small, but clean and comfortable. Worth trying for the experience

Nice owner and a traditional musical family”
Very traditional building. Friendly owner and the location
Met the really nice owner. We made the mistake of wrong booking. And end up reaching there the day before. The owner was kind enough to call the rest of the hostel around the area to help us find any room available. But too bad the rest of the place is also fully booked. The place is really traditional type. The room is quite spacious, but the wash room is very small. Location of the place is good and there is a few attractions near by.

Average stay”
Traditional view, nice reception and quiet
As expected, it was not easy to find and even the taxi driver had to use his GPS with the assistance of the residents nearby to get to the Guesthouse from my previously stayed hotel in Myeongdong. The traditional style of the Guesthouse did give us the atmosphere which we expected. However, the rooms were small. When the beds were laid, there was just a narrow passageway around them for me to open my luggage case. Besides, when my wife was already sleeping, the room was so small that she could not avoid the light of the toilet inside the room when I opened the door of the toilet to enter it. The toilets inside the rooms are very small, too. It will be all wet after one takes a shower inside. The included breakfast was simple, just toast, cereals and milk/juice. Nevertheless, the host was friendly.

Friendly host, nice staff and comfort
The place was slightly far but it was quite comfortable. The host let us check in earlier than the expected check in time to let us leave our luggage while we explored the city. She was very nice and friendly. The room was quite comfortable and big for the two of us. Very interesting experience for us to stay in a Korean Hanok House.

simple stay”
location, location, simplicity
When I arrived after going to some wrong streets, an old lady was there and I communicated with my poor Korean, somehow we managed. The location is wonderful, quiet and near good museums, cafes, shopts, subway station. The rooom for one person is a bit claustrophobic, just enough place to sleep, I wish they had locks from the outside, but only from the inside. It would be nice to have a save or small fridge, but oh well, it is not a hotel. Self service breakfast seemed basic, toast, cereal, orange juice, milk. The hosts/owners of the place when they had time, were trying to be communicative and helping, which was nice. Shared bathroom was small, but I got used to it. I would like to see how the double rooms are, and maye compare wih other Hanoks nearby. It was a good experience overall.
