The hotel boasts excellent and friendly staff according to positive reviews. I am not sure if I would stay again. Pros: - very spacious for a 3-bed room hotel - good location and is close to shopping centres, local transportations and some touristy sites Cons: - While some staff were extremely friendly and helpful, a few make me feel unwelcome. For example, I booked a dinner reservation two weeks before my trip via an online website. Due to typhoon, I had to make some changes to my day-to-day schedule. According to my restaurant reservation confirmation email, the only way is to call the restaurant if I need to cancel. There is no penalty if I don’t show. One full day before my dinner reservation, I asked the front desk to make the phone call for me. The female staff asked me to do it myself. The issue is that I am a tourist, i don’t have a cell phone that can make local calls. When i explained my situation, she did not look interested. I had to turn to her male colleague standing next to her. Thankfully this gentleman understood my situation and helped. When I left the front desk, I thanked both of them and wished them a nice evening. The woman only gave me a half second eye contact and smile. This is a typical Japanese style of passive aggression which I didn’t expect at a four star hotel. - the hotel room is clean for North American standard, but I am puzzled why there are dusts flying everywhere in the air when I move around the room. This didn’t happen to other hotels I stayed in Japan.

This is my second stay at Good Nature and it won't be my last! Reserved the Deluxe Twin but received a free upgrade to the Kawaramachi Terrace and wow! The view from the wrap around terrace of eastern Kyoto was amazing! I'm not a morning person but I got up early every day to watch the sunrise while sipping their delicious complimentary coffee and tea. Room provides a hot water kettle, fridge, a small plate and silverware set, glassware (I actually bought a coffee mug as a souvenir). Love how the room amenities are controlled via tablet for those days you don't want to get up to flip the light switch or raise / lower the temperature. The different room lighting modes tailor to every mood. You can even open close the curtains via tablet (this unit's curtains are motorized). Room was spotless and beds like heaven. The Bose bluetooth portable speaker for your phone belts out superior acoustics. Breakfast at the ground floor restaurant is delicious w/both American and Japanese fare. The cafe on the third floor had some interesting dessert offerings. Hotel has it's own little market where you can purchase prepackaged food, produce, or drinks to go. Gym has ample equipment with treadmill and a cable crossover machine. Lobby has a nice "open air" terrace to relax. Check-in / out was a breeze. Front desk and rest of the hotel staff provided top notch service! Location is unbeatable. 3 min walk to Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station, 5 min walk to Gion-Shijo Station to commute to Fushimi-Inari, 5 min walk to reach Teramachi Kyogoku w/Nishiki Market nearby, 10 min walk to Hanamikoji St, 11 min to Gion Corner, Takashimaya Mall next door for high end shopping (also post office on the 7th floor if you need to send a postcard). If you enjoy walking take an early morning stroll to Starbucks Nineizaka to sip coffee while sitting on tatami mats.

Our stay at this hotel in Japan was fantastic. The beautifully designed, lounge areas in the middle gave the place an authentic Japanese charm. The rooms were spacious, larger than typical Japanese hotels. The hotel went above and beyond by catering to our request for Muslim-friendly meals, which was much appreciated given the lack of nearby options. Housekeeping and room services were impeccable, making our stay even more comfortable. Overall, we truly enjoyed our time here and wished we could have stayed longer!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel, and I can't recommend it enough! The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, with a welcoming atmosphere and stunning interiors that made me feel right at home. The staff were exceptional—friendly, approachable, and incredibly helpful with all of our inquiries, making our stay even more enjoyable. Our room was both clean and spacious, providing a perfect retreat after a long day of exploring. The location of the hotel is fantastic—there are so many great food spots nearby, including Chao Chao Gyoza and Men-ya Inoichi, which were both delicious. Not to mention, there are plenty of shopping options close by as well, making it very convenient for both food and leisure. While we could have taken a bus or train to the hotel, we decided to take a cab instead due to the convenience of lugging three large pieces of luggage. The cab ride was only about 10 minutes from Kyoto Station and cost around $16, making it a quick and comfortable choice after a long journey. This way, we didn’t have to worry about navigating public transport with heavy bags, which made the experience much easier and stress-free. Overall, I had an amazing experience at this hotel. The combination of beautiful surroundings, outstanding service, and a prime location made it a memorable stay. I will definitely be back! Thank you staff for making my first Kyoto trip a memorable one!
