It is really a 1 star or 2 star pension house. Not for the business traveller. More for the back packers.

I had a good experience the first day. Everything was ok. However, during the second night I had a horrible time because the room was too hot and the aircon was not working. They replaced it but it was still hot. They gave me an electric fan though. Maybe just bad luck but probably would not stay there again.

I booked two rooms with them and when I arrive they just have one. I showed the reception that they still have lots of rooms online, they responded the one responsible didn't change it. I asked for the refund and change hotel, it was even better.

OK value for money, but ...”
I booked this hotel because it got good reviews. I don't know the basis for those reviews. The free meal a day is nice, albeit a bit limited in choice. Still, the meals were good. The entrance is readily found from the street. The staff were courteous. We were first shown a room with twin beds. I had booked a double, which had a picture of a double bed! So I complained, and we got shifted to a room with a double bed, but at the front, so we had all the street noise, which goes to very late and starts early because of the proximity of the local market. Maybe we were being punished for asking for the sort of room we booked, rather than simply accept what we were given. Then as we climbed the stairs to the rooms, I noticed the smell of mould. It is not a new building, so this isn't perhaps surprising, but I would have thought that others might have noted it. The room was generally clean, although I did notice small ants on the table with the tray of water and glasses. And there was mould on the wall behind the bathroom door. So all in all, you often get what you pay for. This place was inexpensive, but I won't stay here again.

A Must-Visit Budgetel”
Goodnews Travellers Inn is a one-stop budgetel which you'd surely love to stay every time you visit the City of Golden Friendship. At 850Php, you already get to stay at a very clean and SPACIOUS room contrary to the ones I have booked during my prior CDO visits. GTI has good amenities too. It may not have pools and bars as it is only a two-star hotel, but it has flat screen TV and HOT AND COLD SHOWER, both of which really added COMFORT to my stay. Goodnews Travellers Inn has a VERY GOOD LOCATION. It is situated near Ayala and Limketkai Mall, hence making it CONVENIENT for tourists like me. GTI has EXCELLLENTLY TRAINED STAFF too. Their front desk officers are very friendly and flexible. They really made sure that I have maximized my two-day vacation to the extent that they offered to book my ferry ticket to Cebu City so that I could still buy pasalubongs during my last few hours in Cagayan de Oro City. I have stayed in quite a number of budgetels in Cagayan de Oro City but so far, this is the best one (overall). To be very honest, I was quite hesitant to book here at first but just because Trip Advisor's reviews lured me to do so, I did... and that was an unexpectedly yet TRULY GREAT DECISION.
