The hotel building is a bit old, but well-kept. The room is clean and spacious, though somewhat dark (as in the lights are kind of dim). The garden is beautiful. The staff are friendly, but only a few of them understand english. They have a public bath, which is clean (at least, the women’s area is. I dont know about the men area). Convenient store and station is a bit of a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
Good garden and good place for visiting the Kyoto Imperial Palace.”
This hotel has good garden. You can see the garden free but the scenery is similar to tourist attractions. Also, the Kyoto Imperial Palace is located to this hotel. If you want to go to the he Kyoto Imperial Palace, you just cross a road. One weakness is expensive breakfast. Taste is not bad but cost-effectiveness is low I think. However, I recommend to have breakfast once because you can eat food with excellent scenery.
Traditional Classic Japanese Hotel”
Pleasant stay at hotel. This establishment is what it is, and is the best of class. it is an old hotel but service is excellent. The staff are helpful in providing directions and assistance. Have a nice Japanese garden in the lobby to view while resting.I highly reccommend it.
the best hotel i've ever stayed!”
i was lucky to have booked this hotel through agoda.com. this is so far the best hotel i've stayed in with minimal budget. the traditional japanese room is excellent. the garden is beautiful. the kyoto palace is just opposite the hotel. the only bad about this hotel is the distance from the nearest train station
Just had eight days in this delightful hotel. Very convenient position across the street from the Imperial Palace and a ten minute walk to Imadegawa station with a five minute trip to the shopping district. The area is quiet with delightful walks through the Imperial grounds and beyond to the Kamo river. The hotel staff were exemplary and the rooms very clean and well ordered. The ancient garden within the hotel is a treasure. It is in the top four outdoor spaces in Japan in a heritage listing and is well worth visiting. It is a strolling garden complete with koi pond and hidden pagoda, moos garden and waterfall. At night this is all lit up and the cafe for breakfast overlooks the entire garden. Air conditioning was fantastic and important. As this was in an unprecedented heat wave. Breakfast was sublime with beautifully presented Japanese and western delicacies. Well worth the 2000yen each morning. Only problem was tiny bathroom.had to climb over toilet to get in. Small single room
Lovely garden ”
This hotel has a beautiful garden and is across the street from the imperial palace with its extensivr gardens/arboretum. I was happy to discover it has onsen but disappointed that it's very basic. It seems that with a small amount of effort they could really improve the onsen and make it more like a spa experience. I don't know why the hotel hasn't made a relatively small investment into improving the onsen experience. Even a plant or two and some skin cream/moisture milk would make a big difference.
Nice hotel, but tiny room and bathroom”
Nice hotel in a great location right by the imperial gardens. Professional, attentive staff. Quiet. Elegant facilities. However: tiny room with tiny bathroom. I get that Kyoto hotels are expensive, but still. I wouldn't plan an extended stay here. OK for crashing just one night.
Perfect place to see Jidai Matsuri”
Good to know: they do not have backup keys so it is best to leave keys at front desk when going out otherwise you cannot get in your room if your roommate is out and has the key. Though this evaluation system requires rating for food, we did not eat at hotel facilities.
Comfortable and convenient”
This hotel has a very beautiful Japanese Garden. The Japanese style room is very comfortable for a family with small children. The location is also very good. It is about 7 minutes walk from a subway station, and it is next to the Palace.
Good lodging near the Imperial Palace. ”
We had a great stay. I wanted to be near the Palace grounds and the Imadegawa subway station, so this worked out well. Our room was air conditioned, we had access to a traditional bath -- both in our room and down the hall, there was a beautiful garden to explore, and we took advantage of the traditional tatami rooms that the hotel had, which was a good experience for the kids.
convenient location , fair service & small room”
with 24-hour check in service and very close to metro/ bus station. but , no internet service !! ( totally different from the description in agoda! not even a lan-cable port !don't ever dream of wifi service! )besides, the japanese-style room is quite small and my sis & i can hardly open our suitcases ! to be honest, the price & quality is not equal.
Opposite Kyoto Imperial Palace”
Hotel is excellent value for money when booked through Agoda. It is a one minute walk to the Kyoto Imperial Palace gardens (free entry) and close to Imadegawa subway station. Excellent hotel and facilities for the price. Seems to be popular with Japanese business travellers.
Great location but small rooms”
A pleasant stay in a quiet hotel with a view on a nice Japanese garden and the imperial palace accross the street. Good breakfast, reasonable price but the single room was rather small, especially the bathroom.
Beautiful Japanese Traditional Garden, Next to Kyoto Imperial Palace”
Good location for Kyoto Imperial Palace.
great great location”
it is quite expensive but it is just in front of arashiyama station. great and complete facilities, with many onsen to use
They gave me a double room though I paid the price of a single.
A cosy and nice hotel with good ambience. Hotel just opposite the Imperial Palace. 7-10mins walk to the Karasuma line subway. N
Pleasant stay at hotel. Staff were helpful in providing directions and assistance. Have a nice Japanese garden in the lobby to view while resting.
This establishment is what it is, and is the best of class. it is an old hotel but service is excellent. The staff are very kind, personal and motivated. I highly reccommend it.
