Goyambokka Guest House is a great place to stay. It is calm and peaceful and beautiful. It is well cared for and the staff is great. It is only about 100 yards to the beach. The waves are a bit rough, especially in June when we were there. We were also there in March and the waves were calmer and OK for body surfing. The pool is small but fine and the grounds make the hotel very relaxing.
Great location, great staff, great food ”
We were here during the curfew. It was so peaceful and a haven from what was going on in the outside world. Great location, staff amazing, pool and facilities good. We ate at the hotel the 2 nights we were there and the food was fresh and great variety. The only complaint was that wifi was slow. I definitely would recommend the hotel to anyone. Superb and really good value for money.
Nice guesthouse near the beach! ”
Calm and quiet place only 2min walk from the beach of Goyambokka. Huge room with big bed, fan and AC, nice terrace and hot water from shower. Highly recommended and super good breakfast (more than you can ever eat)! Friendly and welcoming staff and really good value for money :)
Lovely little hotel on great beach”
Really lovely hotel with beautiful pool in lush surroundings, only 2 minute walk to the beach where you find some beach shack restaurants. Breakfast at the hotel was plenty and delicious, including tea or coffee (with real milk!), fresh juice, thick cut toast, eggs, and jam. We stayed in the older style room which was perfectly fine, especially the bed was very large and comfortable with good pillows. We missed a mini fridge and tea/coffee making facilities but no big deal. Perhaps the only drawback if you stay in the older rooms would be the bathroom which wasn't great (shower is open so everything gets wet), and it could have been a bit cleaner. The staff were friendly and cooked us a nice meal on our second night as we didn't feel like doing the small hike into town. All in all, we can recommend this place in low season as it was very good value for money.
Nice clean place close to the beach”
We enjoyed our stay very much. The personnel are nice and the rooms are clean, with big comfy beds and a nice small terrace overlooking the garden. On the downside the wifi was very slow, the fan over the bed was noisy and the bathroom floor isn't tilted, so it gets wet and slippery when you shower. But we would still very much recommend this place!
Quiet location and just a short walk to Goyambokka beach. Stayed in ground floor pool view room. Really liked the large patio space with cooling fan. Room space dominated by large comfortable bed. A good place to relax for a couple of days. Missed having a room fridge but the staff would put items in the main fridge.
Pros great location when you like the most scenic and not crowded beaches in Tangalle where you can swim. Gayombokka beach and silent beach. Breakfast was only western which did not like
Nice place to stay”
Good location! Frendly stuff! Nice garden area and swimming pool!
Great Accomodation, clean, well located, staff is hit and miss”
Would recommend and return: location (just 5 min away from the beach), spacious rooms (bathrooms are not ventilated/ book room w AC!), dont eat in (food is just soso), staff can be super friendly (not the men with the glasses, around 28 years old!), but the rest are great and a asset.
Beautiful and well-run guest house very close to beach, fab food and hospitality!! ”
This was one of our favourite stays in the 7 places we visited in Sri Lanka - the guesthouse is less than a 5 min walk to beach and is set in beautifully maintained gardens with a pool (which sadly didn't seem to get much of the sun when we were there in February). The staff were lovely, and served up some of the best breakfast we had - plenty of fresh fruit, eggs, toast and hot drinks. We ate there in the evening once too and had delicious prawns and noodles. We stayed for 4 nights in the aircon rooms, and our linen was changed whilst there. I'd definitely go for the aircon and fan rooms! They overlook the pool and gardens and had a lovely private outdoor seating area. You have to have a wander to 'silent beach' which is about 10-15 min walk away - the staff will help you, but we were disappointed with the lunch we had there - maybe eat at the Goyambokka guesthouse instead!
Highlight of Sri Lanka! ”
Wow! Our favourite spot on the south coast by far! Lal and his team absolutely spolied us. We were lucky, stayed for 3 days before the high season started. It was nice and quiet. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms and had everything we needed. The pool and the grounds were very well maintained. Breakfast was yummy, very good strong coffee. A two minute walk to goyambokka beach and 10 minutes to (stunning) silent beach. I recommend going to silent beach and eating at a very small restaurant there, run by a guy called Kevin. We had two lovely meals there - a highlight of our two weeks in Sri Lanka.
Beautiful place, super close to a beautiful and quiet beach. The room was very comfortable and the garden around was beautiful and very well kept. The restaurant was great. There is no much around so it's perfect to spend a couple of days in total relax. The pool is a bit small but so relaxing as well. Perfect!
Lovely pool and near the beach. ”
Upon check in they tried to give me a double room when I'd booked and paid for a triple. They then showed me a triple without AC. However, showing them I'd paid for a triple with AC they told me Agoda had made a mistake. Anyhow they did make up for it by refunding the difference. The pool is delightful and it's walking distance to the beach.
We stayed in the new villas. They are indeed luxury. Pool is gorgeous. Grounds are tropical and well kept. The amazing beach is about a 200m walk down a small path. There are a half dozen shacks and bars along the small beach. You can use their palapas for free if you eat lunch there. The most interesting thing that happen to me is that my ankle 'popped' while I was playing in the waves. Went to the hospital. No broken bone but a severe strain. I could not put my weight on it. The guesthouse staff were incredibly helpful. They helped me up and down the stairs - and served us our meals on our patio so I would not have do the stairs. Special thanks to the staff member, Lal, who took care of my needs. Cant recommend this place highly enough
We had a very pleasant stay at Gyombokka Guesthouse where we stayed for 6 nights. We enjoyed the beaches close by and the pool in the nice garden. It had a little basin for our children which was perfect. Our room in one of the new villas was nice and clean and had a very nice bathroom and a perfect terace with shadow. The staff was very friendly. The restaurant was good though we sometimes had to wait a while for our food. We can definitely recommend this beautiful and calm Guest house.
Our favorite place in 53 days in Sri Lanka ”
We came here once for 5 days then returned for another five days later in the trip. I didn't want to leave either time! One of the calmest, cleanest spots we found in Sri Lanka. Enjoyed our standard room with hot water showers, which was cleaned daily (unusual in our experience of hotels in this price range in this country). There is a nice little pool on site, grass & chairs for lounging, Goyambokka Beach 1min walk away, Silent Beach 10min walk away. Staff are smiling & jump up to help with any requests. We ate dinner in restaurant every night & enjoyed it, never got sick even from raw veggies. Only thing would be too plan to eat before you get hungry as food can occasionally take longer than expected, this can also be solved if you order ahead for a certain time. Staff can help organize trips to see turtles or taxi service. Go there now!
Fabulous location near a lovely beach”
The grounds and pool are well maintained and the patios on the luxury suites was very nice. Breakfast was great but other meals at the restaurant not so much. Fortunately there sre many good alternatives nearby
A wonderful place to stay, Dimul and the staff were so helpful”
We booked online in the UK prior to our trip and we were not disappointed. The location of the hotel is a 200m walk to the beach which I have to say has been the best beach for fun we have found. We hired body boards for an hour and enjoyed the surf. We stayed in the older part of the hotel and it was lovely, all facilities worked, bed was comfy and we would definetly stay again. I must mention how helpful and friendly the young male staff were especially Dimul. If you feel adventurous, if you exit the hotel and turn left go up the road then up the hill you can walk into the local village, where although their is a language difference, a big smile and wave goes a long way. Wonderful 3 days.
As returning costumers from earlier this year we are mightily impressed how well run and kept this place is. After some further landscaping in the garden the place looks better than ever before. It is only a stone throw away from an amazing beach but it also has nice pool to dip into. The breakfast is plentiful and any other food from the restaurant is prepared to good standard. The staff is friendly and helpful. This place has an air of cheerfulness that you will miss somewhere else.
Great place and location”
Positives: excellent rooms, staff, pool and restaurant Negatives: noisy mornings- although not the hotel's fault at all! We spent 4 nights here. It's quite easy to get to by bus (300m off the main road) and is located about 80m from Goyambokka beach and about 10 min walk from the neighbouring Silent beach. Both are amazingly beautiful beaches and were almost deserted. Goyambokka beach is safer for swimming. The hotel itself was excellent. The room was cleaned daily and the staff and food were both great as were the gardens and swimming pool. We booked one of the older, smaller rooms near the entrance, but the better, newer ones are near the pool. Now to the only negative point. I must emphasise the hotel is not really at fault for this. On each of the 4 nights we didn't sleep too well. On the first 3 nights, the stray dogs started barking and fighting around 5am and on our last night, the property next door started a religious sermon (on loudspeaker) at 3.45am. This lasted till 6am. Then the dogs started! If you are a light sleeper (like me), then book one of the upstairs rooms near the pool and go t bed at 9pm.
