Clean and extra large room with all the facilities you need. Great value for money”
This is located few kilometres away from Nuwara Eliya town centre but very easy to get in (Don't complain, take a bus to Mahagasthota and a taxi. It costs less than two dollars). The staff is nice and welcoming. But the most important thing was the room. This is a very large clean room. Definitely worth twice the money I paid. The free breakfast was good enough. It is not a buffet breakfast, but if you need more, they will happily give you as much as you need. Don't go to fancy and expensive hotels in Nuwara Eliya if you want to stay few nights. Grand Camellia worth more than what you pay. I'll definitely go there again.

Decent hotel with freindly staff”
We checked in to Grand Camellia on the 12th Oct 2017. The location is up in the hill and difficult to access since it has a very narrow road approach. However, the staff are excellent and very helpful. The rooms and big and clean, but the hotel has no AC or lift. Decent for 1 night.

Avoid; overpriced, soulless, dirty linen, terrible food”
Don't let a stay in this hotel spoil your trip to Nuwara Eliya. Don't believe the blurb about what they say about themselves. If I was paying $30/night I would have tolerated it, but it's absolutely not worth what they're asking for a room. As with most places in Sri Lanka, most of the staff were friendly and attentive. The room was huge, and could easily have accommodated another king bed, keeping the dining room table in the corner with four chairs! The bathroom is also equally spacious, with decent hot water. That's where the positives stop. The room was dirty; the bed linen was filthy, as we're the towels. This was no mistake by the cleaners, they must try this trick all the time to avoid changing the sheets regularly. After complaining they were all changed, but the towels still showed signs of staining (seriously, just put them on a hot wash!). The breakfast is very average, bordering on bad. You can get a feed, but don't expect the lovely stainless steel serving dishes to be filled with hot, delicious breakfast foods. Oh no, they don't even light the burners to keep the food hot. And of course, beans need not be kept hot and so they were sat, cold, on a bowl next to the rest of the food. This place has the potential to be so much more, but there's a clear lack of management which means that its just drifting by. It just feels empty and soulless, and we couldn't wait to check out and leave. Do yourself a favour, and choose another hotel in the area unless you're absolutely desperate, and I sincerely mean that.

We was check in late night. But the receptionist boy Nalinda was very helpful and professional by handing us to check in. Appreciate your professionalism even though it’s not a great luxury hotel. We do stay in Taj Colombo before there but the mind of service not even like in this hotel. And the restaurant staff a I’m lady was very friendly and serve the breakfast with smile. The rooms are acceptable level and the view was not bad. Overall recommended for the price we paid.

A cozy and comfortable hotel. There were tables and chairs outside our rooms which enabled us to sit in groups and chat. I liked this concept.”
The road to the hotel was too narrow. We travelled in a van and it was difficult for the van to go on the road as there was two way traffic on a one lane road. Moreover, since the hotel was located on higher ground, we couldn't go down to the lake side after checking in. It was too far for us to walk. especially since it was getting dark. Perhaps the hotel could have shuttle service (eg. buggy) to take us down to enjoy the scene at the lake side and the horses too. The food took too long to arrive (at least 1 - 1.5 hours). Perhaps it was because it was Christmas eve and the kitchen staff had a lot of orders. The vegetarian fried rice that arrived after 1.5 hours was just too plain. The chef must have been in a hurry to prepare it. Breakfast was good. However, only tea was served. We had to ask for coffeee as it was not readily available. The hotel staff (eg. front office, room service, hotel manager) were friendly, polite and patient. I have no complaints about the service that they provided. They were obliging in every way.

Came here for one night. The road upto the hotel is not great. The scenery around is not great also. The staff were very friendly & helpful and the food was good. The room was big and facilities were alright.

Average place with good service”
The doors were creaky and hot water didn't come in the taps right away; had to wait for a few mins to get hit water, every time we used the taps. The service by the waiters in the hotel was remarkable. Especially one Mr. Simson.
