Top-Notch Accommodations in a Perfect Location”
I stayed here for two nights for a casual weekend junket in Shanghai. While not the cheapest option, the Grand Central was great value for the money. Its location a block off the Nanjing Road pedestrian plaza, and within easy walking distance to People's Square, The Bund, and the subway puts hundreds of dining and entertaining options within easy reach. The hotel facilities itself are pleasing and comfortable. From the tastefully decorated highbrow lobby to the room itself, the Grand Central is clean, modern, updated, safe, and secure. Love the roomy glass shower stall with the gold-plated showerhead and accompanying hot tub. In-room safe has a 6-digit digital combo that you choose yourself, which always gives me peace of mind that my valuables are secure. My only disappointments: The view from the room, while not terrible, was uninspiring. I also asked for a king bed, but got a twin room instead. The desk informed me me that a king bed would be an extra CNY 600, which was disappointing. Overall, a favorable experience. The hotel delivered in a way that met or exceeded most of my expectations.
Perfectly settled in the centre ”
the hotel's location on century square and near the nanjing east road is just perfect. you can walk easily to people's park, the city temple or to the bund - but you don't need to. the welcome at this hotel was absolutely spectacular. in addition to the doorman who opened the car door and the page who took care of the luggage four other hotel staffs took a bow in the door ... - that the guest on his way to the front desk needs to cross the central located dining area contrasts the ebullient first impression a little. but the booked suite did let this waltz fade into the background. very dignified, very well designed, tasteful details, a stylish bathroom, plenty of space, great views, a fantastic bed - all at its finest. also nice, the little regards of the house, local delicacies, fruits and sweets – besides this the housekeeping here was simply outstanding. above all, the bed was dreamlike in its literal sense: i’ve rarely ever slept as comfortable as in the grand central - and more one couldn’t really expect in this regard from any hotel. if you want to find one flaw, then maybe in connection with the breakfast, which in terms of quality and selection oddly revealed clear shortcomings. but to make a big affair out of this would mean complaining at the highest level. the rooms were great, the sleep was as good as it can be – most unlikely that i would choose another place to stay in case of returning to this city.
Very Grand Hotel”
We stayed 2 nights at the Grand Central Hotel Shanghai, we loved the hotel,we walked into our room and wow! it was just beautiful everything about the room was grand, and in the evening when they did the turn down service they left us beautiful chocolates and slippers by the bed (made us feel very special). The staff are very polite and professional. The location was the best, just 1min walk to Nanjing Road, about 15min walk to the Bund, lots of cafes and eaterys around the hotel area. Would recomend this hotel to anyone going to Shanghai.
fantastic hotel in a great location”
we loved our stay at the Grand Central. The rooms are fantastic - beautifully decorated in old colonial style but also mixed with all the mod cons. The hotel is real luxury and for the price is it an absolute steal. The hotel's location is also perfect. It's a 5 minute walk to People's Square and the Metro, a 5 minute walk to the Bund and a minute from all the shops and stores. The pool and gym are also great. My only gripe is the staff at the front desk tried to charge us $150 for an early check in, which I thought was crazy. We only wanted to check in 2 hours early and there were lots of available rooms. I understand that you can't check in into a hotel if there are no rooms available, but if there are I don't think you should be charged for 2 hours. Anyways, apart from that, I highly recommend this hotel.
Great Location, Great Hotel, Great Staff & Service”
Excellent experience at Grand Central Hotel Shanghai. The staff was friendly and efficient. Room had a great size with comfortable beds and great view of Nanjing Road. Centrally located right next to Nanjing Road within walking distance to The Bund, People's Square, and the People's Square Train Station.
Great Hotel With Great Service, Excellent Location”
How can express my feelings of my short trip to tbis beautiful country and its commercial hub Shanghai. My stay in Grand Central Hotel was excellent, room was all what they advertised, beautiful and exquisite. However, the tv channels were not clear coming on the tv of my room and the most important complain I have is that they charged me for early arrival 790 RNM as I arrived at the hotel at 8 am instead of 12 pm. Even though I booked it for the whole 4 days but they insisted that you arrived early and have to pay, which I did eventually and reluctantly. After this minor glitch at the start I never had any complains whatsoever. A beautiful place to stay which is so close to nanjing road where you can literally spend fews days just checking out shops. I loved the place and would love to go there again. My stay in Grand Central Hotel will always be with me as a pleasent memory.
Quality hotel in great location”
Quality, modern hotel with good facilities. It is located one street away from the East Nanjing Road, about 250 m from E Nanjing Road metro station and easy walking distance to popular sights such as the Bund, Peoples' Square and the Shanghai Museum. We had visited Shangahi before so I chose this hotel for it's location and was not disappointed. We had arrived at HongQiao airport late at nigh so stayed overnight near to the airport, then got the metro to E Nanjing Road station (about 30 min and inexpensive) and had an easy flat walk to the hotel despite bulky luggage. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were happy to use the reasonable size indoor swimming pool. We were offered a reasonbly priced upgrade to a large comfortable room on the Executive Floor, which included a good buffet breakfast. The staff were helpful in organising a taxi to Pudong airport. I would stay here again if I need an hotel in central Shanghai.
Great choice in Shanghai”
It was a tough decision for my friend and I to choose hotel in Shanghai knowing the standard and rate in China can be quite different from other countries. We glad that we chose Grand Central despite some reviews said it has slow wifi. We had no problem with it and in fact even VPN works well for me. We love the fact that it is near Nanjing east station and it is very convenient (Family Mart is just behind the hotel, shopping district is just less than 5 minutes). It only cost us about RMB170 from Pudong airport to the hotel but it costs more from hotel to airport (RMB220).The only thing is we book the promo rate which is without breakfast, so can comment much on the food. Overall it was a pleasant stay. We will definitely go back if we are going to Shanghai again.
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Shanghai”
We arrived at the grand central hotel in shanghai to find that our room had been double booked due to group booking that had arrived the day before and there were only deluxe rooms remaining with 2 single beds rather than a king bed. The front desk staff happily upgraded us to a superior room. The concierge were very helpful, booking us a romantic dinner at M on the Bund. Overall a great hotel, very business's feel though.
Great location”
we booked grand central as it is very centrally located. we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived, the hotel looks very grand and the bell boys immediately came to help with our luggage when we alighted from the taxi. the staff were friendly and spoke english well. the room was very comfortable although it would have been better if we had a view to the outside (our room faced the inside courtyard of the hotel). we loved the fact that we could just about walk to all the places we wish to visit, and the metro station is very near too. we did not eat in the hotel as there were so many places to eat around the hotel. but we had room service one morning as we were going on a tour and did not want to go out looking for breakfast. the congee was delicious! we would certainly stay here again if we return to shanghai.
Excellent hotel, great location and service”
i was really looking forward to my stay at the grand central hotel shanghai and i certainly wasn't disappointed. the staff were all friendly and professional. the location is fantastic, being close to the bund, nanjing pedestrian mall and one of the main metro lines, which made getting around to all the sights opf shanghai very easy.
Our Shangrai escapade”
Grand Central Hotel Shanghai is in strategic location. The room is large, clean with complete amenities. It is cery close to Nanjing street, malls and walking distance to The Bund. The hop on hop off tour bus stop is a few minutes away from the hotel. The staff were courteous and very helpful. This hotel is highly recommended.
Great hotel! Highly recommended!!”
Great location, great hotel! Literally one block from Nanjing Rd which is one of the main sights and shopping districts. Hotel is very grand like the name and the room was spectacular. Honestly, we didn't expect such a fantastic room for what we paid. Very luxurious, will have to upload to tripadvisor, it was that great. I honestly can't think of one bad thing about the hotel. If you're planning a trip to Shanghai and wish to be near the shops and dining, stay here. You will not be disappointed. Didn't try food so I can't comment. Also had free gym and pool access. Just came back from Tokyo where I stayed at a just decent hotel (sort of motel) for 50% more for the rates and less than half the room size at Grand Central. Honestly, everyone should go for the deluxe if it's in their budget, very happy.
Classic Shanghai grand feeling”
Choosing Grand Central Hotel Shanghai mainly due to its great location, just few minutes walk to Nanjing East MRT station (Exit 4) and the popular walkway along Nanjing East road is just across the street, and just 10-15mins walk to the Bund, it makes a great choice for me to stay in this pretty new Hotel. Upon arrival, the big and spacious hotel lobby attracted my attention. Love the oval shaped structure hanging in the middle of the ceiling, it is actually a ballroom which was pretty unique in its architecture. The room I got was very spacious, and facing Nanjing East road which gives the bustling Shanghai feel. Love the spacious bathroom as well. And the bed was pretty comfortable.
Excellent new hotel”
We were very pleased with Grand Central Hotel. The rooms are extremely comfortable (with great pillows!). The bathroom is spacious. The staff are all helpful and friendly. The TV is in an odd location, to the side of the room, but if you tilt it towards the bed it is not much of a hassle at all. The only thing I would say that was a negative was that the wifi reception was extremely patchy in our room. At times we were able to connect to the network but unable to surf the internet, and at other times the network was simply not visible at all. However, these are merely slight niggles for a hotel that we enjoyed tremendously and would gladly book again on our next visit to Shanghai!
Great Hotel with Great Location!”
a wonderful stay at grand central hotel shanghai. we were greeted by smile of warm staff. check-in was prompt and settled within 5 mins. lovely surprise of huge room and bathroom upon going up. a very well-thought of hotel with 5-star amenities in the room. everything was new and clean. it was also a short 2 min walk to the famous nanjing shopping street. plentiful to eat and shop but without the noise and crowd as the hotel is situated behind the crowded street. will definitely recommend the hotel to friends and relatives :)
Fantantics”
Forth time visit to Grand Central Hotel Shanghai. The staff was friendly as usual. Room had a great size with comfortable beds. Centrally located right next to Nanjing Road within walking distance to attraction areas, i.e. People's Square and the People's Square Train Station.
Lovely hotel, very near nanjing road and metro”
I stayed at grand central hotel for 2 night. It's very best location , just 1 blog from metro and east nanjing road. You can walk yo the bund only 5-10mins. The room is very nice decoration, quite new, clean. Bathroom is also clean. Staff is helpful and can speak english well. Thre is wifi in the bedroom but i never tried it. I think it's reasonable price for this hotel. For food, i didnt hv any meal there so i cant comment. Good to stay!!
Excellent Central Hotel”
The Grand Central is an excellent centrally located hotel with easy access to the Merto, airports and trains. Near to People's Square and the Bund it offers an abundance of shops, restaurants and nightlife. The staff si friendly and accommodating, making this the perfect city hotel.
Super convenience location with luxury room”
This is a wonderful Shanghai trip with choosing such a great hotel. It's just 2 mins walking distance away from the subway station and this station could bring you to most of the tourist attractions like Yuyuan Garden, Temple of the Town God, etc. Nanjing Road which is the longest Road within Shanghai is just opposite to the hotel. It cost you RMB$4 to take the subway from hotel to Hongqiao airport, (approximately 30 mins ride plus all together 10 mins walk) it's an incredible price to go from downtown to airport. With such a good deal from Agoda, what else you still need to think of? Hurry up and book this hotel! My daddy and I have a wonderful time spending in Shanghai with such a five star hotel. I will definitely go back to stay for my next trip.
