great casino if that is what you want ”
the grand diamond city hotel&casino is there for the gamblers of which i am not one and alltough i can admire the effort put into the gambling halls i was there for the nights accomodation which was adequate without being great the breakfast which is served across the road from the hotel is also adequate but i must confess i did not pay a fortune for the room so it would be still value for money

Nice hotel though the sterile atmosphere in the casino makes it one for hardcore gamblers only. Had what was called an American Breakfast in the restaurant and it was mostly inedible. Still, a decent place to stay, and although I did well in the Casino, the atmosphere there makes the game not the least bit enjoyable.

Best location, decent rooms & best gambling floor”
Deluxe rooms were decent for the price. No in-room safe. No smoke smell, but the hotel, casino, hallways, and building was a little worn. Toothbrush, and clean towels. Nothing special about the view of Thai side and Holiday casino. The beds were typical Asian Boutique Traditional with wooded semi noisy frame especially when you move. Food outlets were decent, but nothing special. The area around the hotel is a bit dirty and not recommended for families. Many foreigners seen in the area as the gateway to Cambodia. Watch out for the foreigner visa scam. It is only 20 USD + 100-200 baht tea money. Only give your passport to the official at the Cambodian immigration table. Thai do not need a visa, but foreigners need a Cambodian visa (you don't need to go to any consulate near by for that) and entry stamp to return to Thailand and maybe plane tickets.

Nice enough but over priced”
The hotel and casino are nice enough although the whole place could use some renovation. Breakfast is good and staff are friendly and helpful. The only reason I wouldn't recommend this place to others is that the price per night of 65 USD per night is too much.

Excellent”
The food range and quality were excellent. The free breakfast was very "Thai food orientated". They had a range of small cakes available. A cup of tea was very thick and had Carnation milk in it. All I really wanted was a cup of tea and some toast. They had a massive selection of Thai foods and staff to serve it to you. The bath in my room was a bit knackered. The bed was very comfortable. I suppose when you are in Cambodia you are a very long way from any Englishness.

Great things are staff hospitality and assistance in processing at the border both on Thailand and Cambodia side, great location situated very close to border, rooms were clean and spacious, however, a bit too old and renovation is needed, overall recommended.

Casino & Relaxe”
Good restaurant even though the licor store and breakfast offered by the hotel is located on the oposite side - breakfast is much better in the hotels restaurant - staff leads you to the winning machines and if you are lucky leave a few baht for them - all machines work with THB - the bank wins as usual - at present there are some construction works in progress it is dirty and hot and ugly outside - ac, cold drinks, some gambling, good food inside.

Awful”
I have never written a negative review of a hotel here, but this one really deserves it. It is really difficult to give all the reasons why this hotel was so terrible. The room was very dirty. There was blood on the blanket. There were no amenities in the bathroom. There is no way this hotel deserves four stars. We had not printed our reservation voucher, and the receptionist refused to print it for us. Normally other hotels always have this voucher prepared for us. Finally, we asked where we could go to get it printed, and she said there was nowhere available in the area. In fact there was an Internet shop only a few minutes away. Generally speaking, Poipet is not a very nice place to stay. Probably you only need to stay there for one night to cross the border into Thailand. Well as I said, I have never written a negative review of a hotel, but do yourself the favor and choose another hotel. I have a feeling most of the hotels in Poipet are not so good, but at least you can avoid this one!!! Finally, even if you pay for Internet, it will not be available in your room. You must use the Internet in the lobby only. Good luck to anyone going to Poipet, which should not reflect negatively on your trip to Cambodia where the people were actually very friendly and helpful.

Let me begin with PoiPet itself is a corrupt cesspool. That aside, permit us to talk about the hotel itself. FILTHY DIRTY UGLY, nothing like you would expect from a hotel associated with a Casino. Our bed had hairs and semen stains from some previous guest (although management insisted the rooms had been cleaned and linens changed - oh, and they wouldn't change them again) It was impossible to sleep with noise and smells. Non smoking areas... ha ha ha .. sure. Not! We had booked two nights, but only stayed one. Now about the staff.. living in Thailand we are used to service staff ignoring us from time to time. Here it was all the time... Even the casino dealers and staff didn't really care.. and certainly didn't smile.. just little unhappy robots. The one somewhat redeeming feature was the restaurant Chillax. The food was well prepared and tasty. I think a foreign chef. However, skip the included breakfast (downstairs across the street) unless you have interpreter with you. Food poor at best and staff..well you can guess. Bottom line.. do yourself a favor.. if you have reason to stay, stay on the Thai side of the border. And be sure to learn about the border problems (google it) if you are passing through. What time to cross, etc. Why satisfactory score on location.. the hotel is on the main road through between the borders. Even so, don't wander around at night. We did a little to look at other casinos... was always looking behind us.

The room was awful, not the same as the photos shown on advertisement. No full curtain to hide the sun. No equipment such as gym room and breakfast was so disgusting that I ate only one time and then have eaten outside.
