I used to live in Prague and have always wanted to stay on old town. Our hotel room was huge and gorgeous. The breakfast was amazing the next day looking out over the Christmas market. I only wish we had gotten a room that overlooked the square ours was a little further back with a view of the tower, but if you stick your head out you see the square. Overall a great stay, and from someone who used to live in Prague, you won't find a better place to stay during the Christmas markets.
The hotel was stunning we had a fabulous room right opposite the astrological clock in the Old Town Square our 6 year old and 8 year old loved sitting on the window sill watching the clock, they never tired of the skeleton ringing the bell, and the apostles moving past the open doors. The room was extremely large, with a very large bathroom, the room was spotless, the hotel staff were extremely knowledgeable and couldn't do more to help. The breakfast was enjoyable with a large choice. OK for vegetarians, as eggs, salt, cheese, bread, yoghurts etc... but my vegan friends would find it limiting. Truly a wonderful hotel in a stunning location, we can't wait to return. Lots to do with the children .... Prague Zoo fantastic, horse and carriage ride, watching buskers on Charles Bridge, walk up to the top of the clock tower for a birds eye view of the city, The original black light theatre, the Marionette theatre .... so much more to explore, will return again soon, hopefully.
Hotel with the best location ”
we were lucky to get a free upgrade....thank you agoda. the hotel is situated in the nicest area of prague, but be aware it is all walking zone over there. so do not take too much luggage...but the service of the hotel is excellent because they even accompany you to your car to get your luggage ! prices in prague in general are ridiculously high.
Great experience at Grand Hotel Praha”
The entire staff, including Martin and Daniel, were extremely helpful during our stay. The room is clean and spacious. Location is wonderful, centrally located to all attractions and close to the Metro. Highly recommend Grand Hotel Praha!
We stayed two nights in October - the location across from the famous Clock on the Old Town Square is perfect for exploring old Prague and the breakfasts were wonderful. What really sets the hotel apart from many others is the staff - they are friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. A real pleasure to have this kind of service. Dan B from Canada
Excellent all round”
The staff were lovely. I would especially like to thank the lady who made up my room everyday. I am disabled and it was so lovely to come back every day to a fresh room All staff were lovely and helpful English was very good. My room faced the clock so I had an excellent vue. All food was excellent and 15% discount was well received. I will definitely come back to Prague and hope to stay here again. ,Thank you all for making my visit so wonderful.
Best location for first visit”
Small but lovely hotel. Staff very helpful - all spoke English well. Absolutely fabulous location for easy access to all sights for a first visit to Prague. We had the room with the view of the astronomical clock and square - wonderful!
in the middle of town”
excellent location : in the middle of the old town just in front of the astronomical clock. Super for the exploration of the town, but you must carry your luggage through the small roads of the old town to reach the hotel (15 minutes). Buffet breakfast in the Mozart Cafe in the Grand Hotel is a must see. The owner of the hotel is a lover of antiques and a collector of clocks. How nice to take your delicious breakfast in the middle of this!
brilliant end to our trip”
to accomodate our twin bed reqiurement we were upgraded to a huge room in the historical wing.facing a side street the only setback was a lot of stairs and passageways each time you went out.the attentive staff ensured that the luggage was handled by them upon arrival and departure.the look of the hotel was really grand as were all the dining and breakfast rooms...we would have loved longer there.
The hotel location is perfect for my short trip in Prague. It is close to any tourist spots.
Exceptional Customer Service”
I left my wallet in the taxi dropping me off and the Concierge (Martin) jumped into action taking me back to the train station to try to find the taxi. After he asked one of the taxi drivers to text others in the area, my wallet was returned with all contents, including all of my money! The staff at the Hotel were amazing! If you want to experience outstanding service and personal attention - I highly recommend that you stay at the Gran Hotel Praha. Plus, the location cannot be beat!
Perfect location ”
This hotel has the most perfect location, opposite the astronomical clock on the edge of the old town square, perfect for exploring old town, but only a 5 minute walk to Charles Bridge. From the moment we arrived the hotel had a lovely feel to it, check in was a great start and we were made to feel special. Our rooms overlooked the clock, but were in a separate building a couple of doors down from reception, which had a lot of stairs and no lift, so the elderly or infirm may struggle. Our room was beautiful but basic, it would have benefited from a useable mirror in the bedroom and a desk/dressing table. A duvet that covered the bed would have been nice rather than two singles. The pillows were awesome! The bathroom looked so impressive, but the shower was impractical, hanging above the centre of the bath, where the shower screen didn’t cover meaning a flood every time. The water pressure was poor and the temperature wasn’t stable. All in all, we liked it and would stay again.
Manager of the hotel has zero care for the hotel guests. Poorly run hotel. High turn over of staff. We experienced an indicident where we were locked out of our room because the batteries in the door lock died. No one could figure out how to resolve it, the hotel manager was absent and not picking up her phone. The concierge had to break the door open. The next day we spoke to the hotel manager and she could absolutely not care less. Never have we experienced such blatant disregard for the happiness of hotel guests. Thank you for ruining the last night of our honeymoon in Prague.
Amazing location in the heart of Prague”
Hotel has a great location. from the breakfast table you can nearly touch the famous astronomical clock on old town square. this is great for walking around but bad if you have to walk a while to get to thefirst street where you can pick up a cab or are dropped by a driver on the other side of the pedestrian area and need to find your way through all tourists and find your hotel behind them. the hotel claims 4 Stars but this not really justified. bath rooms in the main building are brand new and nice, beds are ok. rooms are not spacious at all nor is there a lot of space in a cupboard or so. We first got a twin room on the 4th floor with no elevator in the older (?) part of the hotel so we refused as were not prepared to carry lugguage or walk up the stairs every day and would have also needed to walk via the street to the breakfast restaurant. I must say that the staff is very friendly and helpful which made the experience overall still pleasant.
Three night stay. Very helpful staff. Suggest you book on their website. Such bookings include a pickup at the airport whereas off site booking you pay 30 Euros for that. Three restaurants with excellent food and fair prices. Directly across from the old clock, which is being repaired and will not be open until the end of June 2018.
Fantastic hotel - wrong room”
We paid £200.00 extra for four days for a room with a view (which was the reason for choosing this hotel). On arrival we were told there was no rooms available with a view and was put in the annex part of the hotel without an elevator and 77 steps to negotiate to the allocated room! The second day, after complaining it was impossible for us to stay in this room (we are over 65's) we got transferred to the main part with elevator but only to a small room with no view. We were partially compensated but only after embarrassing negotiation. A pity because the food, service and location was brilliant.
Worth my dollars!”
Location couldn't be any better. Directly opposite the Astronomical Clock and right in the middle of Old Town Square. You can also see the fairy tale looking Tin Church from there. It is aalking distance to the historical Charles Bridge. The room was very big with air conditioner. The bathroom is marbled. The only con was that there was no lift but the staff there are really friendly and helped us take our luggage to our room which was in second storey.
Not what I expected. ”
Nice view from the room, but because it’s so close to the clock, can hear all the drinkers voice at night and tourist voice at early morning! And not to say about the clock rings every hour! Also, the hotel seems newly remodeled and still have strong painting smell. Downside is the WiFi is very unstable. Always has issue or it’s down and the hotel seems not doing anything about it! Not worthy the price.
Fantastic location for the younger generation. In the heart of Old Town Square”
For me , I personally prefer a hotel that the taxi can drive up to the entrance. Staff great, good breakfast and it was in walking distance to everything. On choices of what kind of traveler. How about “Friends”
Located right in front of the astronomical clock and a walking distance to Charles Bridge. Breakfast was delightful, lots of choices and with the view of the clock. We got an attic room which was spacious and clean. The only problem was difficult to drag our luggage to the attic room (there was only steep stairs to the attic) but the staffs were very helpful.
