Don’t stay here. We left in the middle of the night it was that bad.

disappointing”

The receptionist refused to give me a room in which wifi is working, although the agoda-docuement showed explicitly "Wifi included". I now have to walk around the hotel to find a good spot with wifi. Also: The room is very basic and doesn't fullfill the standards of an italian 4-star hotel. My room is facing towards the car park, no sea view at all, and there is a glass-container under my window. The mattress is as soft as a concrete-socket. Very poor.

Great base to explore the coast”

I booked the last 4 nights of our trip to Italy in Salerno due to a few factors, we needed to get to Rome for international flights and the train station is literally cross the road, but say 10 min walk, and also because it seemed cheaper than a lot of other places on the Amalfi coast. Im glad i made the decision!! Despite reading it is set up mostly for conferences, ( and there werw two huge ones during our stay), that didnt impact at all on us, our room was far away from any noise, and there was plenty of seating at breakfast (which was included, which was a surprise) We ended up finding an infomation counter which helped us with a lot of things like the 3 day bus pass for 16 euro, which went all the way up to sorrento. We did a few trips aroud the coast, it took 1.15hrs to get to amalfi, and the bus ride wasnt for the faint hearted! but after realising how isolated the coast was I was glad to retuen to salerno for more options for dinners, supermarkets etc. Its the only hotel I have been to in the world where youre required to wear a bathing cap. Which you can purchase from them, but the strange thing is it was material, not rubber/latex, so apart from the novelty factor for me I couldnt quite work it out! Our superior seaview room was spacious, and uninterruoted sea views, but if I had a choice I would opt for a balcony, ours had a ranch slider, but its so nice there in the evenings you want to be able to park up and enjoy the sunsets! We makeshift our own with the room chairs, but not quite the same! Helpful staff with maps etc of the town. Great hotel for the end of our holiday

Such a charming hotel in the perfect location in Salerno. GREAT breakfast. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay!

Mold in the shower”

Pros: this hotel is very close to everything in Salerno -- the train station, the sea, shopping and restaurants are all very walkable. The lobby area and the staff are very friendly. Cons: The room was disgustingly dirty and run down. The shower had mold on the walls and on the shower curtain. The curtains had holes in them. The paint job was very shabby, and the furniture in our room was broken. I would not recommend this hotel and will be looking for a different hotel next time in Salerno.

Hotel with the perfect view and location ”

Perfectly located overlooking the sea the Gran Hotel is a hotel worth the money spent! Clean rooms, staff is very friendly, good breakfast and fast WiFI

Good price and ok location”

The rooms in this hotel are quite large and I had a good view of the water from my balcony. Hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the train station and the pier where you can pick up ferries to Amalfi and the surrounding towns. The hotel was reasonably clean but there were some small insects in my room (little flies and mosquitoes... there were also ants in my family member’s room). Overall, this is an ok hotel if you are looking for a big space, on a budget, and want somewhat easy access to the Amalfi Coast.

Nice place ”

Not bad for the price. Only one complaint is a breakfast it was mostly carbs, no cheese or vegetables but actually it’s normal to have a coffee and croissant and that’s it. All other things are very good for this price

Overall great”

Ac was broken so the hotel kindly offered upgraded room. Unfortunately wifi was not working all day.

Exceptional”

Last 4 years we have use this Hotel about 10 times always excellent! Great breakfast!!

Pictures and reviews are deceiving”

The pictures show a hotel that is grand in scale with above average rooms and facilities. The reality when you get there is the rooms appear to have not been updated in decades. The room we were given was half-painted, with roller marks ending halfway through the wall. There were crayon and pen drawings on the wall and the shower drain didn’t work. We paid for a sea-view room and were given one facing the train tracks. Consistent with what others are saying you will not get WiFi in your room. It only seems to work in the lobby. Staff were somewhat friendly but I would not recommend this hotel.

Its not a 4 Star Hotel but....”

The place, including the walls in the room and the bathroom was a bit run down. There was peeling paint on the walls and mis-matched colours. Butit was a very large room and the staff kept it clean. Also the staff were extremely pleasant.

Old huge hotel past it’s prime”

It’s rated as a four star hotel, but the hotel doesn’t really deserve to keep it. The hotel appears to be falling apart with significant signs of wear and little signs of keeping the place up to date. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. In America this would be classified as a bad 3 star at best. It looks like it was once a great hotel, but not anymore. On a small bright point, it’s location is nice as it’s right to the sea and near the walking path.

Gd hotel but disappointed about the Wi-fi. ”

Have a good stay in the Hotel. But disappointment with the Wi-Fi reception. We have to come down to the reception lobby for better reception.

Acceptable”

The walls in the room falls apart, there was water on the balcony all the time dropping down. The staff is not friendly.

Salerno ”

In a good location and convenient however I wouldn't say it is a four star hotel.
