It's disheartening to see such a historic hotel being poorly managed. The amenities are lacking, with malfunctioning electrical outlets, inconsistent wifi, and unclean electric fans. The noise levels are also unmanageable, with a loud party continuing until midnight. Fortunately, our stay was limited to one night, and I wouldn't choose to stay at this hotel again.

Mine was a last minute, cheap and cheerful booking. My only real gripe was check in, which was in a public bar, rather than in the beautiful lobby. But the staff are lovely, and rescued me when I locked myself out. I will definitely stay there again

Very basic, outdated, noisy, no hairdryer, parking tricky, hated having to go in public bar to sign in and out. No redeeming features really (maybe that the sheets were nice and clean).

I just have to complain about the fridge, I thought it was working but not. And when I arrived the door locker was not working but the staff fixed it. Everything is old style as it is expected, shower has a good pressure, and everything was clean.

I booked at Whangarei Grand Hotel instead of Whanganui Grand Hotel. Didn’t realise until I tried to check into the Whanganui Hotel and they didn’t have a booking for me.Phoned Whangarei hotel immediately. Just waiting to see whether they are still going to charge me for the booking.Was a genuine mistake. !

Very dated hotel. But couldn't argue with the price. Though the facilities are old, they are clean and organized. Check in / Check out were very easy. if the facilities were updated, this would be a much better rating. Otherwise no issues at all
