Had a wedding to attend, but ended up leaving reception early so got last train back to London therefore did not need this room. However, they let me check in early, so I could change. Front desk girl was friendly and nice. Room looked well worn and perhaps in need of a little TLC but this may also be seen as quaint and with character, as was also the case for the entire property. Was clean so I guess that's all that matters. Key card access after front desk closes, was highly problematic and I almost missed my train as I couldn't get into the hotel. The lady who answered the phone had to come over from another property, but they were busy for dinner service at the restaurant over there, so there was a delay. She was very apologetic however.

The Grand”
It was near to my sons house. The bathroom. The breakfast.
Comfortable but the bathroom was cold. It is located in small village with no distinctive attractions but charge their guests £5.00 per car per night for parking!!

Great stay at the Grand”
Excellent location. Large clean room. Complimentary Water.
Although I would not rate the hotel as 4-star that is not to say that it is not a good hotel. It is a very good hotel. To bring it up to 4-star in my opinion it would need a renovation. Obviously I did not see every room, but my room (303) was large and clean. However the fixtures and fittings were not modern. And that is true to say about the public areas in the hotel. The quality of the breakfast was also NOT 4-star. It was large but not quality. Also I came down for a 7am breakfast and the lights were off and there was no staff around. Within 5 minutes staff did turn up. However for a 4-star hotel I would have expected everything set up and ready to serve before 7am and not just after. The car park has markings for about 15 cars but realistically I don't think you could get 10 on there without blocking other cars. The location could not be better. Just at the end of the high street. And the complimentary bottled water was a very nice touch. The bottom line; would I stay there again and recommend it to others. Absolutely!

dirty carpets needs decorating no child locks food”
food lovely cooked breakfast a must... clean bed linen and towels .....manager/owner! very nice
Carpets were dirty our family room was at top of hotel the window which looks directly on to the main road had no child safety locks on..there was no hot water for shower or bath we had to ask for staff cars to be moved so we could park..the paint work & walls need decorating..a blow up bed was put down touching a plug socket that was in use operating the TV... the light bulb in the room & the landing wasn't working..etc etc when we told the night porter nothing was done..no one there when we went to check out to complain so we just left never to return. Anything but grand!!!
