I came here with my husband for our wedding night. The staff noticed the ring on my hand and gave us a small gift to celebrate :D The room is big and nice view. Everything is great! Good room service, free bus to go to the MRT station. Love it!

Love it, with Chinese traditional building style. A big surprise as we were told to upgrade to a big room with a very big balcony and bathroom. Shuttle bus is very convenient to Yuanshan station (every 20min.).

Stayed here for a night to experience staying at this iconic hotel. Room was large and came with a nice balcony (didn't really use it though). Toilet and shower facilities were also pretty good. Beds were a bit soft and not that comfortable but of acceptable quality.

An unique Chinese palace style designed hotel. Worth to stay for a night to explore and experience the hotel. Frequent free shuttle bus services to the nearest subway station. Must stay in a room with balcony.

Grand by name, grand by nature”
Extraordinary hotel, with much history to enjoy. We stayed in the cheapest option, an inner windowless room, but although was small, it was quite acceptable - just needed to set our alarms to wake up. The breakfast is OK, but its much better value to walk down the hill to the Louisa coffee shop near the station. Shilin Market is close by, and there are lots of eating options. You can walk thorough the park surrounding the hotel, and there is a swimming pool. Secret tip: on the second floor, there is a huge balcony that overlooks all of Taipei. No-one ever goes there, but any guest of the hotel can use it.

One of the most pleasant experiences in Taiwan”
Stayed here with my family for 5 nights. Amazing location and gargantuan facility offer many places for photos and exploring. Overall attentiveness of elderly staffs are good but younger ones in operations like front desk could be better. Food tastes good, especially the Chinese restaurant. Highly recommended hotel and will definitely revisit.

Worth the price to stay. I'd do it again. ”
I was worried that the Grand Hotel had seen better days (having read reviews from the past year or so) and that we'd arrive to see worn carpet, dusty chandeliers, subpar food, etc. We didn't! It was a "wow" from stepping into the lobby to riding the ultra-smooth elevator to opening our hotel room door. Beautiful, clean, luxurious ... wonderful! We stayed in six 5-star hotels during our stay in Taiwan, and the Grand Hotel, by far, was my favorite.

Very historical”
I took the MRT from the Main train station and got off at Jiantan station. It was about a 15 minute walk to the Grand Hotel. This is not recommended if you have suitcases. The shortcut has you climbing many steps. The hotel also has a shuttle service to Yuanshan MRT station with shuttles leaving every 30 minutes. Like most hotels there are different size rooms. The Grand Hotel also has an annex called the Chin-Lin annex. If you want a room in the main building don’t choose the annex. The remodeled rooms are more of a simplified elegant versus being ornate. Some original elements still exists such as the wood floors and the night stand between the two beds. There is a cash mini bar and the usual toiletry amenities. Two breakfast locations are available. On the main floor is the Asian and Western buffet. On the 10 floor in the Prestige Lounge is what they call the Muslim breakfast. I found the Prestige Lounge to be not very crowed and with great views. If you don’t need your ham or bacon in the morning, the Prestige Lounge is a good choice. On the 10 floor is also a small fitness room. There is also an outdoor swimming pool.

LOVELY HOTEL”
I had a smallish, but comfortable and impeccably clean interior room. The service and staff were excellent. The lobby is impressive and is itself a tourist attraction. The buffets are very good. The hotel offers are free shuttle to the local MRT (subway) station, so it is easy to explore the city on your own.

Wow!”
Lots of history in this hotel! I stayed in one of the Chi-Ling rooms for two nights and was not disappointed with the high standard of cleanliness and comfort in the room which also had a nice view of the 101 building and city from the balcony. The room felt brand new with a great shower and separate bathtub. Television had all the movie/news channels and the wifi worked extremely well/fast. Check-in was smooth as was check-out. The only possible negative is the location which, given the hotel's premier status and beautiful surroundings, is understandably slightly inconvenient, but there is a free shuttle to the nearest MRT stations as well as taxis on standby. The free museum and photo gallery give you a good idea of the hotel's storied history, but I also saw Taiwan's president, Tsai Ing-wen, passing in the lobby. 9.5/10

Real Gem of a place to stay”
We hesitated to stay in this hotel as it gave an impression of an old school hotel which needed updating. However due to its history and location, we decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised and really happy to have chosen to stay here. The rooms bathrooms were newly updated and modern, suitable parts of the room that linked it to its history is still maintained. Rooms were good sized and had wonderful unblocked views with a massive balcony to boot. While you may find that the location is not as close to the MRT, the hotel offers regular, complimentary transfers to nearby stations so you still are connected. The venue also has a nice neighbourhood and is close to Shiling Market etc. My family and I enjoyed our stay and wished we stayed here earlier ! I would recommend it !

Worth to stay more days if would like to enjoy hotel facilities. For older kids and adults, that is absolutely no problem of farthest from the town. 15 mins walk to Shilin Night Market. To other place, must to take shuttle or taxi.

Spacious room, excellent service and good view ”
The room is spcious and clean. The service is excellent. AS the hotel is located at the top of a mountain, the view is good. The drawback is the the need of better transport and often the use of taxi to come back to the hotel in the evening.

Clean, spacious room at a historical hotel”
Clean, spacious, remodeled room
First stay at the famous Grand Hotel, the Lobby is antiquated, but remains clean and stylish. Entering the room hall ways, the old carpet and dim lighting worried me with the thought that the room might be as dark and maybe even haunted with old hotel room smells. Much to my surprise, the room is actually more spacious and cleaner than I have imagined. Different from the picture I saw on Agoda, perhaps they have chosen to upgrade me to a bigger room. The biggest advantage and also its disadvantage is that the hotel is located on top of the hill, has great view, but relies on hotel shuttle bus or taxi to get there. Wouldn't never have the chance to live at the Grand Hotel once in my life had I not found this bargain price room on New Year's eve. Would consider to stay again if price is at a bargain.

Location, Staff and Service
Check in was a breeze. The room is spacious and have complete amenities. One of the best thing about this hotel is how accommodating the staff are. They will assist you in anyway possible. Free shuttle service to MRT Jianshan station every 20 minutes. And from Jianshan MRT, there's already a KLM Bus that will bring you to Taoyuan Int'l Airport,no need to go to TAipei Main Station. Pretty close to Shilin Night Market too.

Grand hotel Taipei”
Decent
We stayed just one night, and overall it was a nice stay. The place is beautiful; indeed, inside and out, it looks like a huge pagoda, so if you want something generic, this ain't it. But we loved the gorgeous lobby. The room itself was definitely up to par with the Hyatt, Hilton, Westin, or other western hotels. Nice bed, fairly quiet (despite a few noisy neighbors), great bathroom, a balcony with a fantastic view of Tapei. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and most spoke some English, although not perfectly. Don't miss the fantastice breakfast buffet!

Great Big Hotel, Right Next to Night Markets, Felt Like An Emperor
Had to upgrade - the small rooms are like shoeboxes
Great hotel. I was staying with friends at this hotel and we loved it! The rooms were so luxurious. The balconies from the suites looked out onto the whole of Taipei. Even with all of the smog, the city still looked beautiful. Only cons were: (1) small rooms were like shoeboxes (so if you stay here you should definitely stay in a suite or don't stay at all); and (2) the bathroom looked like it hadn't been redecorated since the 1970s.
