Hyatt hotel in new york i would really recommend it .. grand central is just beside it. Hotel by itself so clean. I love the bed, comforter and pillow so soft.
An introduction to New York City”
This was my first time to New York and it was an amazing visit. Part business, part leisure. The location made it super easy to get around. The room was spacious and comfortable with a good view of the city.
good location but facilities are limited, staff is not the most efficient. compared to boutique hotels, grand hyatt new york can't compare with customer service.
Very Good Instead of Excellent ”
Staff at the Hyatt were disappointing. There were communication problems between the Hyatt and Agoda on booking and billing. I paid Agoda in advance for 2 queen rooms for 3 adults for 3 nights for the best rate and received confirmation. Thank goodness I double checked with the Hyatt before we left for NYC. The Hyatt only had me booked for 1 room for 1 night. Agoda eventually straightened it out but it took numerous calls to the Hyatt. Hyatt management had to get involved to fix the mistakes on their side. It is a blessing that I checked before we left. It took a couple of days to sort out. Agoda staff was responsive, helpful and diligent. Ultimately, we had a good trip. But, after we got home, I checked my credit card statement on-line and the Hyatt had billed me for rooms I had paid for in advance! I did not get a bill at check out. Again, Agoda had to step in to fix the problem and get the Hyatt to remove the charges. Otherwise, the hotel, the accommodations, the amenities and the location suited our needs.
Very good for the price”
We got a super deal through Agoda so we got a fair price for a 4 night stay, the hotel is literally next to grand central so is very nice for moving everywhere in the city. I'm 26, travelled with my parents and we found it was quite expensive to find places to eat or grab a quick bite in the morning.. Close to central park, shopping avenues, moma.. however kinda far from downtown if you want to stroll through SoHo, Brooklyn, Chelsea etc.
Doesn't deserve 4 star rating”
I was very disappointed to see a Grand Hyatt hotel group can have inconsistent quality. I know a few good ones like the one in Tokyo, but this one in NY grand central is a failure. Arrived at 2am on a freezing night of January, and they didn't have a room ready due to stuffing issue. It took 45mins to get a room, which felt longer as I had just come out from a 25 hours flight. No hot shower after midnight for my entire stay, ice cold water every time I got back from a long day at work. Room service took a long time to answer even at off peak hours. They even charge if you want to leave a luggage for a few hours. The queue at check out was ridiculously long. They had about 6 front desk counters, but there were only two (and eventually 3 while I waited) serving a long queue. It was at 9am on Friday. You dont need to be a hotel expert to expect a busy morning. Why didnt they get more staff to serve, rather than let the queue to grow longer and longer right in the middle of the lobby. There are too many thing that made me wonder how they got to call themselves a four star hotel. Hotel staff are friendly in general who were also generous with their apology when something went wrong. But friendly staff alone doesnt make it a good hotel. They have too many operational problems to fix. I would call it a big hotel in a big city with mediocre quality. Star-wise, I would rate it three, definitely doesn't deserve four.
The Hyatt life”
Very comfortable bed, hotel has nice design, minimalist zen gives an aura of space and elegance. It's centrally located in Midtown Manhattan just a few yards away from Grand Central. You can go anywhere from here. I enjoyed my stay.
We were on a mini-break in NYC and although we did not spend much time in the hotel we were very satisfied with with our contemporary room. Very comfortable to come back to after hectic days out. With Chrysler building on one side and Grand Central Station on the other, short walk to Bryant Park and Times Square - great location. Lobby amazing and helpful staff. Cant rate the facilities as were did not use any.
Can't beat this location”
If you're looking for a hotel close to Grand Central, it can't get any closer than this with it being on top of it! The price is reasonable, and the size of the room is generous for NYC. But with it being in the heart of Manhattan, it is a bit noisy especially with the constant siren going on (but this really happens anywhere in mid town Manhattan).
Not so good service”
Grand Hyatt offers comfortable room. The lobby was very nice and there is a 24-hr cafe right at the lobby and the prices are reasonable. However, getting the wifi was a hassle (only available at the lobby). Why will a 4-star hotel charge for wifi, especially when the room rate per night is so high? Then, the check in counter was slow and seriously understaffed. We had to wait at the line for quite a while before being served (two staff were on duty). There should be a separate desk for current occupants/guests at the hotel, to answer to their queries, rather than joining the queue together with the rest.
convenience and spacious room”
Tried emailing and contacting the hotel on what is the additional chargers incurred on my credit card since we did not "eat" or use any of the paid amenities or facilities in the hotel. However, till date, for almost 2 weeks, I did not receive any respond from the hotel. Check in and check out staff did not mention on any additional fee that will be incurred as well when I had repeatedly ask and esquire with them. Later found out that the additional charges incurred might be for the "resort/facilities fee". It will be ideal if the hotel could at least notify or explained before the direct charging into the card. Other than the above mentioned, the location is great, room are spacious.
Best location in the City”
Exceptionally nice hotel, spacious room, clean and modern. Couldn't be in a better location, next door to Grand Central. Only drawback was lack of drawers for clothing items, like there wan't any. Very srange.
Aging hotel, still Hyatt standard”
In middle of NY winter the old room heaters just could not really keep the room warm, and when they're on full it becomes very uncomfortably dry. Despite asking twice they did not have a humidifier available so I wasted a lot of water running the shower (which was also only like warm) to overcome the dryness a bit. If you're used to a cold climate this might be Ok but if not I'd avoid this Hyatt in winter. Also the mail room charges $5 or $10 to receive packages, something I've never encountered at any other hotel. Overall it's still quite a good hotel and the staff always do their best.
Excellent hotel location, clean, quality service”
Excellent and will go back soon! Love the rooms and very comfortable and not small as many hotels in NY
NYC Grand Hyatt”
I would say that the overall experience of the hotel was great. The room was very modern and kept very clean. The only knock I had on the room was that the shower seemed to need a facelift. The floor of the shower had seen better days, but as I said this did not have a negative impact on our weekend. Room service was pretty poor. It took an hour for them to deliver a small bottle of shaving cream. The manager was very apologetic and sincere in their tardiness. The location of the hotel is great. It's in midtown and adjacent to Grand central station. Surrounding area is great with shops and restaurants.
Four and a half star”
The room was just renovated, so it was great. Clean and spacious. Can go directly to Grand Central. Times Square is in walking distance. Only problem is the noise. My room was close to the elevators, so I could hear it every time it stopped on my floor.
Central location, very helpful concierge ”
Great stay over all. Will choose Grand Hyatt again.
unclean rooms, noisy on 23rd floor”
Was surprised the Hyatt hotel group would allow a stellar location like this to descend into uncleanliness. Our room was billed as a "grand king" and yes, the bed at least was king size. The room was full of stains and dirt from years (it appears) of glossing over the cleaning process. We were on the 23rd floor and the street noise was deafening due to the window construction. The room was constantly hot despite adjust the thermostat down. The bathrooms were incredibly tight and poorly planned (ie: water handles under a tight shelf).
Not the role model Hyatt as it was told...”
It was a business and personal trip The Price was fine, but that's it. The room was awful, not cleaned everyday, in a really bad condition and resounded to the condition: our bathroom cabinet was broken, the toilet was placed between the shower and the cabinet and (i am not overweight haha) i couldnt really fit my shoulder in it. The TV was broken (on top) i do not even know how you can break a Tv this was? The resound was bad in the room.. we could hear the gong from the elevator as it was arriving? Now the stuff.. the Guy at the front desk was ok. not too friendly and not too pissed, but the guy at the barcounter and the market and from the luggage storage, oh boy, couldnt even say hi or thanks or something. Really bad! This is my worst new york and hyatt experience so far.
Nice hotel centrally located in manhattan”
Great value for money. Hyatt style. Choose the corner king rooms, they are slightly bigger. Lights switches are modern with sensors. Impressive
