Even this is a smoke free hotel, I could smell second hand smoking in my bathroom and along the corridor. Service at breakfast buffet was terribly bad. Room was so stuffy as the air conditioning was so weak. The front desk spent forever to check in our 5 rooms. Won't stay again.

Hotel with wonderful architecture but antiquated decoration”
I travelled to Shanghai on a vocation trip with my family this October. The Shanghai Grand Hyatt Hotel is located in Jin Mao Tower, which was designed by SOM. The building itself is a state-of-the-art architectural masterpiece, but the hotel wasn’t, at less it is not at today’s environment. The staffs were very kind and efficient, both during the check-in and check-out procedures. I tried to make the reservation through Hyatt’s website, but it told me all the rooms are unavailable on the selected date. So I have to booked my rooms through an online travel agency. The room size is reasonable, with out-of-fashion facilities and decoration, through the linen and towel was brand new. The coffee cups needs to be replace, with tones of scratches on them.
Good location with great view. The service is yet to be improved.
Wonderful services provided by friendly and caring staff”
There are many luxury hotels in Shanghai and Grand Hyatt Shanghai may not be the one newest, but oh how wonderful their customer service was! I arrived deadly tired at midnight and the receptionist immediately took care of me, offering a complimentary breakfast and room with preferred bed size so that I could rest and enjoy the rest of stay with them. I was able to enjoy their morning exercise class and taste their beautifully crafted chocolate. I will definitely recommend this hotel to all business travellers who need a nice couple of nights to relax.
Grand Hyatt at it's best”
Great location, you can't beat 73rd floor. at the same time stayed better for much less. I suppose you pay for the view and great location. Staff reasonably nice, buffet brekky very good. would stay again.
Hotel with a view”
The hotel's lobby is at the 54th floor of the Jin Mao tower and the rooms go up from there. Spectacular views guaranteed but the architecture with metal structures sometimes prevent wide views. The checkin took quite long and there were also queues at breakfast. Other than that, good business hotel in Pudong.
Good place to stay in Shanghai. However, I would stay away from the Japanese restaurant there. The food there was very expensive and the quality was definitely average at best. It's best to walk across the street to the mall and eat there instead.
Best 5 star hotel i have stayed so far”
This has to be by far the best experience i had with any 5 star hotels in all my time travelling as a travel professional. This hotel is so well managed with impeccable service levels, motivated staffs and great rooms with fantastic views of the bund. Had issues with the booking due to confusing room types and rates displayed on Agoda. We booked this hotel only for the view of the bund but ended up booking another room type with no Bund view. Check-in staff was professional and even gave us an upgrade FOC after i explained our predicament. I really appreciate what they did as i was preparing for the worst when i realised we accidentally booked the wrong room type. Their desire to provide you with a pleasant stay with them and the fact that they went out of their way to do that shows what a 6 star hotel should be like. Yes 6th star is for impeccable service levels for hotels that walk the talk. Due to the booking error, we had only one breakfast included but there were 2 of us. Hotel allowed us to get the breakfast for 2 while they tried their best to get it sorted out. However, Agoda was very slow in response and could not even resolve the issue after 1 day. It was amazing as this is the only hotel i know of who allowed us to check-out and rectify this issue after i fly home. I have never quite know of something like this before. Concierge was a very pretty lady with very well spoken english who was very helpful and nice. I have to congratulate the GM of the hotel for the great management, motivated staffs and high service level all around.
I have stayed at this hotel several times before and will return although this time around I was somewhat disappointed. The room although large and comfortable was just too hot, even though it was below 10 degrees outside and I had set the air conditioning at 17 degrees, I don't think the actual temperature in the room went below 25 degrees. Other than that the service, food, and the room itself were exceptional.
I've stayed at this hotel several times now and I will be back again. The location is ideal for my stay but what makes this hotel one of my favorites is the staff, from the doormen to the bartenders everyone of them are polite, friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is spotless and the rooms are great.
It is one of the best hotel in the world but ...”
It was great! the facility and service is one of the best except the fluency of English of the staff. We had difficulties in communication at the restaurants in the hotel and some staff at the lounge. They could not understand fairly simple English and we had to explain several times to have our service. when we enter the breakfast buffet, they offered a coffee every time and we said after the meal but they brought the coffee when we took a seat. this is one of the example of communication problem. If they improve their staff English, the hotel will be the one of the best in the world.
Having stayed at this location before I knew going in that I wouldn't be let down. From being picked up at the airport by the hotel car to when I checked out the service provided by this establishment and their staff is second to none. The room itself is spacious and as I was on a high floor the river view was stunning.
I only stayed for one night so hard to get a good "feel" for the hotel but in the short time I was there my experience was all good. The hotel lobby is on the 54th floor and my room was on the 85th floor which is the highest floors with rooms, needless to say my room had a great view of the city of Shanghai. 2 floors up is the Cloud 9 Bar, which also had great views, but for a hotel bar it was very dark inside which made reading the drink menu rather difficult by candle light. All in all though the hotel is very impressive, service is excellent, room was large and spotless. A bit on the expensive side but the luxury is there.
Grand Hyatt quality”
We booked at last minute stay on a good pay 2 for 3 nights deal. Rooms were of good quality. Staff were very friendly and responsive. Concierge had help to make multiple dinner reservations, saves me trouble of looking up numbers etc. Only complaint on the restaurants, overpriced, as expected with any hotel restaurants, but quality of food does not live up to the price at all. We had one room service, one lunch at the coffee shop and one at yhe japanese restaurant, the food was really not up to par. You'll fare a lot better both quality and $$ wise eating outside. Location was ok. Nice area tho we cabbed most of the way. We did walk to the pearl tower and zheng Dai mall with 2 young kids.
Great hotel with great staff and wonderful views”
I have stayed here before about three years ago on business but this time decided to treat the family to one night here on our last day in Shanghai (we had lived for two years). I am a fan of Hyatt anyway but just loved their friendly and professional service here and we were certainly well looked after here. This is isnt a cheap hotel but we did get a great deal by being out of season and using Agoda points so we stayed in one the world's highest hotels for just about 60USD with free internet - a steal for such a memorable night especially as were further rewarded with a river view at the very top on the 81st floor so had views to die for. Staff were wonderful all through especially as we have a very energetic 18 month old who they treated with as much love and care as if they were their own son. Rooms are a little aged now but then with a view like that it’s not the carpet you will be looking at. Main things we used were the pool which is great though small but still not bad for 50th floor! Also baby sitting services which was also great. The bar at the top for a drink (well worth it to look over the night scene of Shanghai and the drinks are pretty good too!). Also breakfast in the morning which was scrummy delicious and enjoyed by all of us. Definitely worth a visit just remember to take the camera.
from the moment you arrive from the door man to the servers in the bar and restaurant the service is exceptional. rooms are big and well laid out and have great views. many hotels have nice rooms and beautiful bars / restaurants but sometimes the service is lacking, that is not the case here, i can't say it enough how good the service was.
...uh...views views views.. Ya gotta love 5 star hotels...most of the time anyway. In this case it was great. Good service...good room...biggest views in Shanghai... nice pool and spa...and we got a 500 rmb credit toward food and drink...yeeeaaaaahhh!!! Had a nice time in the sky with my China girl!!
service is always good and check in efficient. rooms are a good size and clean. room was a bit hot for me but an engineer came and un-locked the window so i could get fresh air. great location for business and shopping and a short walk to center of pudong and lots of bars and restaurants. gym is large enough, clean and equipment new. overall, a good reliable stay and location,
from the minute you walk into the lobby until you go to your room you are welcomed with the warmest greeting & smile. there was not a thing out of place in this magnificent hotel. the room we had on the 74th floor was divine with lovely room furnishings. absolutely loved it.
