well nothing special about that hotel, location is in sultan ahmet area so right in the historical center. hotel and rooms are clean but very basic. didn't have any issues but wasn't impressed at all. you get what you paid for.
the grand mark hotel was located near kennedy road which is not very convenience, required to walk for 5 minutes of very sloping road to the nearest station. the room was quite small and old but still clean and tidy. however, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. overall, the hotel is ok but a little old.
Great Location, Great Experience for the Price”
It was a great expereince. It has a nice location that's a short walk to the metro lines,an easy walk to the ocean front, near a number of nice restaurants and sheesha places. Great value. Very clea. Nice staff. Made for an awesome stay.
Great location but room need updating.”
The location is excellent and the staff are friendly but the rooms are small and old & out of the window the views are broken buildings etc , when u have a shower water came out from the base of the shower cubicule & leaving the bathroom wet slippy. The B'fast is very basic. The staff are very helpful. Airport shuttle can be arranged for 10 Euros each.
The hotel located at Istanbul old town,Sultanhamet Area.Walking distance to the tram station (Beyazit), but need to walk uphill. The roads are narrow, need easy for the taxi drivers to locate the hotel. You can also walk to the tourist attractions such as Grand Bazzar (around 0.5 km),Blue Mosque and Museums, less than 2km.Food are cheap near the hotels. There is a big seafood center just in front the hotel. The room size just nice. The housekeeping very bad, they don't change the bedsheets or pillow casing and the don't mop or vaccum the room.Breakfast very basic.Staffs are friendly.
Friendly family run hotel”
Grand Mark hotel is a 3* hotel in the Kumkapi area, good for exploring Old Istanbul. The rooms were small, but nicely decorated and well equipped. The staff couldn't do enough to please the guests and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good hotel on a budget.
i stayed just one night but the location was great. there is a chain of restaurants, full of colors and life, was on 5 min walking distance from here. you can visit there late night and wont get bored. infact the only lively place i found in istanbul after istaklal street. grand bazar blue mosque haya sofia all on 10 min walk
Very nice hotel ”
Really enjoyed and staff very helpful
nice staff, good location and quiet.”
helpfull staff, strategik all location”
Very Awful Neighbourhood of Istanbul”
I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. First the hotel is not 3 star, Its 2 star hotel. The staff had no idea that I was coming . They opened the email and saw that I had taken the room or not. After that they gave me a room. All lights were malfunctioned and it hasn't had any view from the window. Lift was very old, a frightening old. Neighbourhood is full of refugees and illegal migrants. Not Recommended at all.
it was so-so”
The hotel is quite nearby the attractives, about 15mins walk to access blue mosque, aya sophia etc. the room is tiny, breakfast is ok. I booked the private car airport pick-up services from the hotel, to my suprise, I was pick-up by a mini-bus, I can see it should be a shuttle bus, though only take us. When I left, I booked again the private car services to the airport, I paid the private car price, though was sent to a public shuttle bus!
I would rate this as a 2-star hotel, and overpriced at that, although this was a decent price for Sultanahmet area. The location is not actually that great. I would have stayed in a different area if I were to do it over. Friendly staff, warm room and shower, free breakfast and good wifi. It is not so close to public transportation, but ok for me.
Ok. No complaints...”
Stayed for 3 nights in this hotel . Went to Istanbul with my daughter ( aged 14 yrs) and my wife . We had booked a triple room. One double bed and one single bed . The room was very very small and hardly any space to keep our bags or even move around the room . But the room was good . Once in the bed , no problem at all. There's no hot water kettle in the room which would have helped me to make my own tea or coffee at my convenience . We chose to take a train from Ataturk airport to the hotel. The hotel had told us to get to Beyazit tram station and walk to the hotel, which is just 5 mins by walk . We had a tough time finding the hotel. When we asked around at Beyazit station , no one seemed to know location of the hotel. Eventually we did find the hotel. The staff of this hotel are very friendly . Instantly we felt good having chosen this hotel . Once we were settled in this hotel, we discovered the excellent location of the hotel. Walking distance to Grand Bazar, Spice Market, Sultanamet mosque . I would highly recommend this hotel, due to hospitality of the staff, location and value for money. Other than having problems in finding the hotel and small bedroom, no other problem
The feeling off getting ripped off”
I booked and payed for 2 triple rooms. As we arrived we got 1 triple and 1 double room. After 2 nights the staff were changing the triple room to a double room, because there were only 2 people in the room.If i objected staff was not really friendly. So we were put up with 2 tiny, rather dirty double rooms and payed for 2 triples. When we wanted to book shuttle to airport they constantly changed the price. We just took taxi. But some off the staff were pretty nice and helpful. Breakfast was real sober.Location was perfect.
Recommend hotel but not directions”
I traveled for three weeks from bucharest down along the Black Sea and to istanbul. Out of these three weeks my three nights at the grand mark hotel were the best nights sleep I had during that time. Directions- the directions on agoda give the impression you should get off at the tram stop" sultanahmet". Don't ! You want to get off at the stop of the old and famous bazaar. "Beyazit kapalicarsi" . When you exit the tram, on one side of the street is the bazaar direction and on the other is a hill that goes down. Follow the hill to the bottom then that's your street and you'll be close. Ask at that point.
The hotel was expectedly adequate - for budget.”
We were greeted with unexpected unwelcoming gesture as the receptionist (Serkin Akin) told us that basically our booking were a no go. Fortunately, after making a call to Agoda, their staff work swiftly to sort everything in order (I really forgot your name my friend, but my utmost gratitude to you). In summary, the hotel was expectedly adequate in accomodating all of my friends and I budget travel to Istanbul. Cheap, close to the actions, with ample basic necessities you need in a hotel. Though with great dismay, their hotel staff is never ever friendly, and at times, very very rude. The cheap price tag reflected clearly on the way how they handle their customer/client. I've been greeted with mockery hand claps and shouts of bravo (Lokman) when I try to mildly argue and explain something. And this happens in several occasions during our week long stay. I will never recommend this hotel to anybody, but with all that said, if you can look pass by the very very poor customer management skills, this hotel should fit nicely in your budget bill.
this hotel was actually far from the trem station”
this hotel was far from the trem station. its not located at the sultanahmed but more than 10 block away with mountain road. not suitable for traveller with luggage since the road side was not a pedestrian friendly. many taxi driver also don't know where the hotel located. very old hotel with the window cant lock and very dangerous for single traveller. The door also cant lock from inside! NOT RECOMAND for single traveller.
Budget Hotel, Good Location but small rooms”
We stayed 2 nights at Grand Mark Hotel. At first we thought that the Hotel placed in the remote area and far from everywhere; until we found out that the location is very good- very closed to Kumkapi, one of the best place to eat sea food in Istanbul. In the morning we found the cheap market along the way and also budget restaurant everywhere (We found the good and cheap restaurant aside the hotel). It's not difficult to find supermarket, bakery and ATM. The room is clean but I guess, It's ideally for 2 people only; it will be too small for 3 people. The staffs are friendly and helpful.
