The hotel features the best pool for kids in Jakarta- complete with a sand pool- and spacious, clean rooms with 2-3 bedrooms, perfect for staycations.

Grand Tropic has become more difficult to use the lift now, as it requires access that was not needed before. The staff is undoubtedly very friendly, but please do not use access for the lift as it is difficult, especially after swimming when the room key is inside the room. Since my husband did not swim, I had to wait for him to come back down, and the staff could not assist with accessing the lift. I hope it can be like before again.

A good option when needing space and a decent location. Executive Suite with two bedrooms (beds for four) and Family Suite with three bedrooms (beds for six) are not always easy to find. Price was reasonable, although Agoda listed the normal price for an Executive Suite as Rp2.2 million but at the hotel it was listed as Rp800k with a booking, 850k walk-in. Still not bad given the space. Obviously an old apartment building and showing its age. Range removed and nothing in the kitchen other than a sink and refrigerator. Lacking other amenities as well, although the sofa was quite comfortable. No hand soap at any of three sinks. No pool towels (had to use ones from the room). The pools were nice. A kids pool with sand dumped in was shallower than the 0.8m posted (about 20cm at one end full of sand to 0.6m or so at the other). Great for a four year old to run around a splash. Main pool 1.15m was great for 6-10 year olds. Third pool at 1.55m would be nice for teens or adults. Staff was courteous, but the front desk was often dealing with several people so it often took a few minutes to ask a quick question. Complimentary, self-serve laundry was a surprise. Although limited operating hours 10-4 made it difficult to get laundry done. Overall not bad if you need or want more space than a typical hotel without paying a premium, but the rooms are showing their age and a lack of amenities.

+ Old hotel but the room is very comfortable , very spacious (like apartment) , & clean. They gave bread also as welcoming snack. + the price is very affordable compared with comfortable room that we get + have mini market inside the property (closed on 9 PM) + The park is big + strategic location + wifi is okay (10 Mbps) - The front office is not hospitable , but the cleaning worker is very helpful & hospitable when i ask for bowl. - they also forget to provide towel , but as i contact the staff they send it to the room (Other notes : their restaurant no longer operated which is okay , we can order gofood) Overall this hotel is very recommended !

Good location. I booked for 4 nights. I got a terrible and quite run down room on level 10. Next morning I happened to meet the duty manager, I complained how unsatisfactory I was with my room and definitely cannot recommend to anyone to stay here. Luckily he offered and showed me some renovated rooms. All rooms on level 9 are renovated- called Deluxe Rooms. All rooms on level 6 also renovated called Executive rooms. Room sizes are different, because I travelled alone, I picked the small size on level 6 for my upgrade. Free laundry for guests between 10 am and 4 pm., washing liquid provided as well. Overall I felt much more comfortable to stay for the remaining 3 nights. Mugs and cups will be provided upon request. The hotel should change all the bath towels, to me quite old and need replacement.
