Felt being welcomed at Family house”

It was really a good stay at Grandma Kaew House. I chose this guest house based on other traveller's review, but I didn't fully trust the reviews and booked only one night to actually try there, thinking that maybe I can ask to extend my stay if I liked the room. However, they were fully booked from the 2nd night onwards (I guess this guest house is really popular and there are only 6-7 rooms), so I needed to change to another guest house which was a nightmare. I regretted that I didn't book Grandma Kaew for the whole period online before I flew off. It was located at the end of small hidden alley, and it was quite at night yet close enough to walk to the main street only 5-10min. The lady owner was very helpful, the room was nicely maintained and cleaned, the linens are freshly washed, hot shower works fine, and they even placed mosquito coils near the sitting area outside my door at night. I felt not staying at a hotel but felt almost like staying at a relative's family house who welcomed me. I was able to tell that the owner (local wife and British husband) is very mindful to make guests comfortable in everything at the hotel. I joined their Lanna tour to Golden Triangle which was also good with the nice English-speaking guide.

This House Is Excellent!”

I stayed 9 nights at this house with not one negative experience. Family owned and staffed. The husband/wife team that own this house are on site everyday cleaning rooms, taking good care of guest and maintaining the property. This place is quiet, clean, comfortable and within walking distance to everything that matters. (Bus station included) The staff is friendly, helpful and just really nice people! English is spoken and laundry service is provided if you ask for it. There are only a few rooms available at this house but if you are lucky enough to book one, you will not be disappointed! I will book at Grandma Kaew House again without hesitation for sure!

It was a pleasure staying in Grandma Kaew House. Friendly owner, simple yet homey, very clean, near to bus station and they have reasonable one day tour package! Definitely would recommend to anyone going Chiang Rai!

Great Location”

I had a very pleasant stay at the Grandma Kaew House. The bed was quite comfortable and the room was very clean. The location is near to the central area of downtown....night market, bus station, and Saturday night "walking street." Breakfast was simple...coffee, tea, toast and bananas. Close to many restaurants though, so no difficulty getting more to eat.

Great stay at the perfect guesthouse with a lovely owner”

We had a great 3 night stay at Grandma Kaew House. The room is big and clean, with a fridge, good shower, good bed. The owners are really kind and helpful and it's close to the night market and city center! Loved it.

Nice Hotel and great hospitality”

Recommended hotel either you travel to Chiang Rai by Air or Bus. Room is very clean and comfortable, Location is very near to bus station and city centered. Very great hospitality. For sure will return to this hotel on next trip to Chiang Rai.

Great spot close to downtown Chiang Rai”

We stayed here two nights and really enjoyed it. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff was very welcoming and helpful with information on what to see and do in the city. We especially loved the recommendation to take the free tram tour and were the only farangs on it so it had a nice local vibe. The location is down a quiet alleyway tucked away and yet only a 3 minute walk to major downtown attractions. You can rent some very well kept motorbikes here as well. Definitely a little gem in Chiang Rai.

Great Location, clean room”

Grandma Kaew is a fairly new guesthouse, the rooms are very clean, albeit slightly bare. Staff, when available, is very attentive and helpful. Location is great, within walking distance to many restaurants and pretty much in the city center. Still the little Soi of Grandma's is very quiet.

The best in Chiang Rai”

Less than 10 minutes from bus station. Close to Night Bazaar. Many food stalls, and massage shops around. The staff is impressively hospitable. They helped me deal with motorbike rental and cab to airport. Unexpected simple breakfast is a bonus. Simple but sufficient. If you come to Chiang Rai, definitely stay here.

Fantastic little hotel ”

For once I’m really happy to review, when we arrived we were welcomed and quickly shown to our rooms, the staff were very helpful it is a small style hotel family run worthy of its star rating that didn’t looked to be too old. Our Tuk Tuk driver didn’t know where it was but got us there in the end. Located off the main roads but an easy walk to the night market and restaurants we found the beds really nice better than some of the big hotels we stayed in on our trip… really liked this little hotel great value, super clean, central location local restaurants really nice made our Chaing Rai visit worth it….great find on AGODA

The Grandma was a really nice friendly person. the room was clean and big. The Grandma house location very easy to find . Nearby the bus terminal 1 station.Recommend to stay there again

Lovely homestay!”

It was a lovely stay. No complaint whatsoever. Good for a couple of nights stay in Chiang Rai. The owners were very friendly and helpful. For breakfast you can choose among toasted bread, jam and bananas. I would stay there again.

I don't know how I missed this place last time we visited Chiang Rai! Now I know about it, Grandma's will be my first choice because of its cleanliness and value. No complaints whatsoever!

Clean, quiet, friendly.”

Very pleasant stay. Nephew Ping gave us a great private tour of the highlights of Chiang Rai, all the way to the Golden Triangle, for much less than a group tour. Great stay!

Excellent ”

Great little hotel, a real quiet haven in middle of chiang rai. Can't fault it. Very helpful owners (Thai and British couple). Can't wait to go back.

Hotel in very good location”

hotel is 10 min walk to the Chiang Rai Terminal Bus station and 15 min walk to many cafe and massage shop. If u want to go to the Chiang Rai night bazaar it is just beside the bus station.

Friendly owner and staff”

The location is only around the corner from the bus station and about a 5-10 minute walk to the main center of Chiang Rai. The room was clean with a fridge, air/conditioner, clean adequate bathroom and separate laundry room for hand washing of clothes. The very friendly owner gave us a good map of the area and arranged a few trips for us. The only negative was that our room was right next to the office area and noisy at some times. Overall would recommend this guest house as very good value.

It is located in a small aisle, but it is convenient once you know how to get there. There is some food stalls nearby with reasonable price and a good massage shop. It is in the centre of the city, convenient to anywhere. The host is very nice and speak good English. His son Ping also helps in touring people around. He is a driver and good guide. He is nice and thoughtful. He speaks good English. He brought us to Phayao for 2000baht a day and to Doi Tung Royal Villa for 1500 baht a day. He can pick you up and drop you at the airport with 200 baht per ride. There is free breakfast offered with unlimited bread and bananas. Free coffee and tea, two bottles of water every day. Towels and soaps provided. You can ask them for hair dryer if you need it. Remeber to bring your own shampoo and tooth brush and tooth paste. The rooms are big and spotless. It would be lovely if there is a hair dryer in the room, so I don't have to ask them for that.

Relaxing and heart whelming ”

I think I had the one of the most pleasurable experience with the kaew family. They are a nice family taking care of simplest things. Will definitely stay with them again.
