No free lunch in this world! Beware....
When we check in, the front desk said she is offering a free upgrade of our room to suite and it comes with free breakfast. We thought probably the hotel was running full capacity hence decided to upgrade our room, that's so nice right! After all the paperwork, the porter was "so nice" to hang around and waiting to help us with our luggage. To our dismay, that's because the suite is not located in the main building and we had to walk a distance. The moment we were out in the street, we had a hunch, something is not right. We told the porter that we do not want to stay away from the main building, he was so smart to say that it will be a long wait to arrange another room, perhaps we should get some rest and if we do not like the room we can always change it later. He insisted that we should see that "suite", so we obliged. We were shocked when we reached the building lobby, there was just a table with a security guard, sloppy looking, definitely not a suite building with 5 stars rating. Worst of all, it was a room meant for handicapped, the sink and shower area was designed for that, so the sink was extremely small and low, shower area with no doors to keep the toilet dry. Immediately I demanded that they give me a room that I had paid for. Their customer service reply was: but you will not have free breakfast! I was like :((( freaking s**t I do not want the breakfast and I am not penny pincher who is dying for your breakfast, I can easily afford it if I have to pay! They insisted that I should view another room which is in the same building. So they sent another porter over, when we told the porter, no we do not want to view it, he just left us to drag our luggage down the street ourselves. Marvelously unbelievable! So beware if they are so nice to offer an upgrade for you.

Cheap for a 5 star
We stayed over the weekend nice big rooms with no noise from people in the halls or traffic outside and the breakfast was great lots of cut fruit and the full breakfast was cooked perfectly great hotel cheap for what it is.

Wonderful hotel, great location, rude front desk staff
The Grange St Paul's is a beautiful hotel. The location is perfect for getting around town and also for strolling and dining along the Thames. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are gorgeous. However, the front desk staff was incredibly rude on a couple of separate occasions and I'm not sure why. It's such a disconnect from the rests of the hotel. Other people waiting in line were commenting on the same thing. It wasn't all of them but there are a couple of women who were just not acceptable or professional in their treatment of my friend who arrived early before our room was ready, nor did they improve their disposition when I arrived. such a shame because the hotel really is fantastic besides this glaring problem.

Great Location!
Location is only few steps from St. Pauls Cathedral! bunch of hangout places, cafes and restaurants. The hotel is grand and we admire the architecture, especially the rooftop, stunning view of St. Paul's. the room itself could be better with modernization upgrades, average for 4 star hotel.

Perfect except for the bed
This place was beautiful and everyone was really friendly. We were very excited that we were upgraded to a larger room with a king sized bed, but the mattress was the hardest mattress I've ever laid on. I don't mind a firm mattress, but this was like sleeping on the floor. Everything else about this place was stellar, but I just wouldn't go back based on the mattress.

For a 5 star hotel I was surprised I had to pay $29 pound to use the business centre. Don't think a 5 star should be asking their guests to pay this. I wouldn't rate it a 5 star hotel - it's more like a 4 star. Was there 3 nights and only once did I have a turn down service. It's a nice to have but if you are going to offer it then be consistent. On the plus side - The staff were fantastic and very helpful. Location was central and close to tube station. Lovely being right in front of St Pauls. It is a lovely hotel.
