Fantastic Cruise and equally fantastic food”
From the time we were picked up at the hotel and 'Long' gave us an insight into the local history of Vietnam and the legend of Halong Bay on the bus trip down and Happy entertained us on the way back we had an absolute ball. It was worth paying the extra for the VIP room as we had a spa bath and a private balcony at the FRONT of the boat (mostly suites had back facing balconies on other boats) so this was the main reason we chose Gray Lines. That alone was worth it! But there was so much more. The staff were always polite and helpful, the food just kept on coming and don't even think a one night cruise is a good idea - you should seriously consider the two.

Ha Long Bay 3 day/ 2 night”
We booked the Queen Suite for a 3 day/ 2 night cruise in early April 2017. The bed was comfortable and we liked the way it was positioned to look out at the view through the large picture window. The additional (semi)private deck area was also nice. The photo showed a shade umbrella on the cabin deck which wasn't provided because it would blow over during cruising. The weather was so cloudy during our cruise that the lack of umbrella wasn't an issue. There was plenty of food during meals. The pumpkin soup was very good. All drinks at lunch and dinner are an additional charge - including water. I believe you will find this is the practice on most of the Ha Long Bay cruises. The staff was attentive & spoke English well. There was also a French speaking guide. We were looking forward to seeing the fishing village (which no longer exist because the bay is too polluted and over fished to make fishing viable), kayaking (which the government put a stop to as of April 1, 2017 - we did not see a single kayak on the entire bay), exploring Cat Ba island and Bat cave, Dark and light cave, and amazing cave (none of which were provided. We were told the government also made changes to access to Cat Ba island, etc). We did go to a pearl farm where we were given an informative and amusing tour by a local guide, were taken on a small "fishing" boat and shown how locals would drop gill nets & encourage the fish toward the nets, a trip to Ti Top island to swim or climb to the peak of the island, a boat ride inside Hang Luon to see the monkeys, and a stop at Me Cung to see the cave and hike up to see a small fresh water lake, which was interesting. Ha Long bay offers amazing natural formations and beauty and I'm sure it was really something 5 or 10 years ago, but now the water is littered with trash and swimming is quite uninviting. I'm glad we made a side trip to see Ha Long bay while we were in Vietnam, and Grey Line cruise was a good cruise line, however, the activities offered

Very organized, wonderful ship”
Gray Line cruise to Halong Bay was a very fun experience. After reading horror stories from other people regarding the quality of the ship, I was a bit nervous, but the ship that I was on was fantastic. The room was great (I got the one w/ a balcony which I thought was worth the money). I was happy with the food. From pickup to drop off it was organized and the staff was nice, spoke good English and were friendly and willing to help.

We enjoyed our 2 days 1 night on cruise”
First at all, my boyfriend and I would like to thanks Quan (Happy) our tour guide for giving us a memorable trip by Gray Line, he accompanied us from Hanoi old quarter to Halong Bay, journey was about 4 hours and we were not boring at all. And also thanks all staff on-board for helping my bf to prepared proposal decoration in room, we like it so much. 2 days 1 night was perfect for us, not too long nor short and with all the nice view and scenery, given us piece of mind. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, WE WILL BE BACK !!!!!

Glad all went well”
We had a very hard time choosing the cruise as there are too many choices and every cruise has good and bad reviews. Luckily all bad reviews about gray line or other cruises didn't happen to us during our 2d1n stay. We felt totally relaxed and had lots of fun. Our rooms are at the front of ship with 2 verandah (1 can be accessed by other guests but not many know about it so we have whole verandah to ourselves)! Love it a lot! Bed is comfy. But heater took a while to warm room up. Visit to titop island isnt very pleasant and disorganised as there are far too many tour groups there. Guide makes visit to luon cave sound like it's only for those who want to kayak. Luckily we went (other guests are sent back to the ship) and asked guide if we can take the boat ride. Sung sot cave is really amazingly beautiful and huge. Luckily no tour group then. Guide is very polite. Staff are helpful. Hot showers is a BIG plus during winter. Food, average. Drinks (non alcoholic) are reasonably priced.

Its difficult to make comparisons with other cruises since we, like almost everyone else, have only done this once. However I can be pretty confident in saying that this is a very good, and very good-value, cruise. We did the "3-day 2-night" cruise and was curious as to how they were able to board new passengers every day. On the 2nd day they put the 2-night cruisers onto the tender which then goes off and visits an island where, apparently, you then get on bikes and cycle 30 mins to some village, and 30 minutes back. Well, since we had such a nice cabin (one of the 2 suites at the front) we decided to remain aboard and repeat the 1st days cruise. And I was happy with our decision. My advice is to book one of the "suites" - they are not any bigger but you have a nice astro-turf patio at the breezy front of the ship. The difference in price is not much. For most people the one day trip is enough - as spectacular as the scenery is, it soon becomes routine.

We are traveling with young children and gray line was very accomadating. We truely enjoyed the trip and our connecting rooms were beautiful and perfect for small children. Beware they did try to up sell us to a VIP connecting room even though we had already booked a connectin room. Once I informed them of this, they made sure we had the room we booked. The tour guide was amazing and made sure that everything was taken care of. Make sure to ask for special foods for kids before boarding. Lastly, be prepared to wait for the bus back to Hanoi for up to an hour after getting off the boat.

Pleasant cruise”
The cruise was pleasant, well organized. I was given a second floor room in the front with a front deck which was probably one of the best rooms in the ship. The room has big windows which look out on to a spectacular view through the cruise.I had booked a 3 nights 2 days cruise. If you have booked a three day cruise, please note that on the second day the mother ship returns to land to drop off and pick up passengers who have booked a two day cruise. I was transferred to a smaller boat run by another tour operator for the second day while the mother ship was gone. Though this boat was comfortable it was not the same class as the mother ship. It had a dining room downstairs with some lounge beds on the top deck which I could not use as it was raining some of the time, so I had to spend most of the day sitting at a table. The service on the boat was good though with good food, a set menu and an articulate and helpful guide. We ventured much deeper into the bay and the views were spectacular. However, I noticed that there were other cruise ships that had ventured deeper too, so it might be worth looking into that while booking a 2 day cruise. When I returned to the mother ship in the afternoon, as the rest of the guests had left for the floating village, electricity and water was switched off for about half an hour (they forgot that I was on board!) and restored only when I went looking for the crew. The management made amends by offering me free drinks for the second day. Food was average compared to some of the boutique hotels that I had stayed at in Vietnam. The spectacular views of Halong bay made up for all the inconveniences. The two evenings I got to spend in my room were comfortable because of the nice bed and big picture windows. Bathroom clean but needs redesign, no shower curtains and no ledge space. All in all, I did not leave with the impression that it was great value for money, but who knows, it might be the same on other ships too.

Luckily we did book the package 2day 1night directly from Gray Line. We was impressed with the freelance tour guide whose English is excellent . We booked the VIP suite which is equipped with own front balcony. From there, we could enjoy the whole view privately. foods is good and nice. But the spot we visited does not cover all it should be ..as a whole, this trip is awesome I would say. It is highly recommended for all who love to enjoy the scene of Ha Long Bay..

Cruise is Welcome Break from Hanoi Business”
We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on HaLong Bay. It was such a contrast to Hanoi, and we were treated very well by cruise staff. Some areas for improvement: we felt rushed on the first and last days of our 2 day cruise, coffee and tea might be made available throughout the day without charge. We would definitely suggest the 2 day cruise if you have time. The second day was the most relaxed, fun day. Too many boats on the water--feels like herds of cattle leaving and returning to port all at the same time. Suggest trying other less traveled bays nearby.

Out of this world scenery”
Maximal praises for the staff on the boat and especially our guide Cong. The office called the hotel to confirm pick up, and the trip was smooth and comfortable. Despite some delays in departure from the harbour, we were able to do all the activities listed without being rushed. The kayaking was definitely the highlight of the trip, and totally awe inspiring. However, the cruise company should look into client safety a bit more: 1) advise re appropriate footwear for walking in the cave 2) instructions prior to letting people loose in kayaks 3) safety lines and floats for people to hang on to when swimming off the boat. (Some of us were caught in a fairly strong current, and many were not comfortable in deep water). All in all a fantastic trip and should not be missed.

Very nice and peaceful night ”
The transport provided by halong bay cruise to pick us up at hotel for US$25 per pax 2way is not worth for the amount. we are dispointed as we have to seat on a 30 seat long bus when we return. Going is with a mini van.

Even local people will have to pay the same amount for a route of 180km round trip with a fixed pick-up points in central of Hanoi and tens of stop-overs during the trip to Halong. This was a magical experience, the staff on the main boat are very good. This time of year is very hot . Would be even more special when it cools down a bit. The food really is 5 star, a lot of attention to detail, and good quality of drinks, good prices compared with hotel of this quality. We stayed in VIP suite, massage shower plus little private deck. Excellent experience . 2 things can improve on , some fans on top deck to cool people down , and improve Internet , The best form of free advertising is Facebook and the likes, charge everyone an extra 5er and get good WIFI. Still great cruise, very good staff.

My Husband and I went in early March on a 3day/2night cruise. The staff are very organised and helpful. The food was very nice plenty of it. Our Suite was lovely, The activites are all run very well. Just loved the bike riding and Kayaking. I would recommend this cruise, partially the longer cruise, money well spent.

The cruise was wonderful, the bay is beautiful, just difficult to see past all the floating rubbish at times. I really hope they clean the bay up it is such a pristine area, it needs to be preserved for future generations. Despite the rubbish I am still happy with the cruise and that we have seen the area.

Clean room, however there's a funny smell in the toilet. The staff were very attentive and the meals were great! Very generous serving and delicious. The balcony was a little small, but good enough to enjoy the cool breeze and fantastic view of halong bay. Enjoyed our stay.

Although somewhat rushed as it is literalally overnight, the facilities, food staff and our guide were excellent. They gave us everything that was promised and the the cabin was delightful. My one gripe would be that Halong Bay is becoming dirty which detracts from its natural beauty.

Good but can improve”
We had a monsoon one night and the bay was closed. They handled the logistics poorly.They did not have a clear policy of notification, updates and refund policy. Their van is too small for the number of passengers and luggage. The cruise itself was really good, staff very friendly.
