Thoroughly dreadful hotel in every way possible”
    1. the free bottled water, 2. my son & friends who were with me
Dreadful. Filthy. Had to wait three hours for a room to be ready. When it was, the room was filthy, no coffee facilities and a whopping great tile split and moveable in the shower. They then gave me a suite which was filthy, the staff came to look and agreed, they even found more evidence of filth and I was frogmarched out. That room even had a tangerine that looked as if it had been used by a Government Minister in some role play of sorts. The bedding was filthy and there were dirty bite marks on the pillow case. When they began to strip the beds, the mattresses were in such poor order. I told them that my dog slept in a better bed and remember this was in a suite. We were then taken to another suite which was also filthy. I was informed it was the windows and the muck was on the outside. I stupidly wiped my hand across the window sill to find out that the muck was very much inhouse! Windows were gaffer taped shut, not one window but three. You could walk along the window sill from the bathroom through the lounge and into the bedroom too. No TV in the lounge. For all this I was given a plate of turgid fruit! For a five star hotel the luxury breakfast was fruit juice - no it was Tang! and Beans on toast. Evening meal was a joke pork chop. Simply dreadful!!!

Air condition service down during ours visited times at Shanghai, service staff advice us to turn on the Windows in order to get cold air form outdoor, which is total ridiculous and unacceptable! How could a 5-Star hotel offering this kind of servicing to people? Internal exterior looked old and classical, a dated hotel which lack of maintaiment, we got a very hard mattress serves. Hotel distance to city by Train is around 2hours, 1hour for travel with tour bus. Highly inconvinient to visit city area

GREAT TANG HOTEL = GREAT INDEED”
DISTANCE BETWEEN F1 CIRCUIT AND HOTEL. INTERNATIONAL FOOD. GOOD SERVICE
MY STAY IN THE GREAT TANG HOTEL WAS PERFECT. I WANTED TO VISIT THE F1 RACE AT THE SHANGHAI CIRCUIT AND THE CIRCUIT WAS ONLY 5 MINUTES FROM THE HOTEL. FROM PUDONG AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL IS IT ABOUT 1 HOUR WITH A TAXI. BEST YOU TAKE A METERTAXI AT THE AIRPORT THAT WILL BRING YOU TO THE HOTEL FOR € 35,=. FOR PEOPLE THAT LIKE THE NIGHTLIFE PICK ANOTHER HOTEL BECAUSE IN THE DISTICT WHERE THE GREAT TANG HOTEL IS LOCATED IS NOTHING TO DO!

Great Tang is terrible! Never again!”
Price was low but quality also low
The hotel says to be in Shanghai. In facts it is on the total outskirts apart form everyting. Am MTR station is some kilometers away not like indicated close. Travelling to city center takes a lot of time, too much time. The hotel is very dirty. it far away from 5 star standard as it says. to me it was 2 and a half star. Aircon not really working. no English speaking staff. Even for the not so high price unbelievable bad. Never a 5 Star hotel. You cant get worse location in Shanghai. There is nothing in the surroundings than slummy area.

    Chinese-style 5-star”
    Over-rated, Not 5-star
The Great Tang is anything but great. Barely visible from the road, the hotel caters for locals, so local tastes are the standard. Barely any English spoken at reception at all. All meals are local Chinese or Chinese-version of Western food i.e. cold cuts at breakfast, thin white bread with yellow jam, boiled eggs and brewed coffee. Smoking is permitted everywhere, even the gym I found out!, so the hotel reeks. The rooms are old and have a musty smell. We only stayed here because we were visiting a local factory. If you don't need to be here, don't stay here.
