Making The Best Of It”
About the best of the hotels in Lubuan Bajo but is really a pretty basic backpackers hostel. God only knows what all the Backpackers Hostels are like. Its clean an has wifi and a restaurant and a coffee shop. Though all are were a bit dysfunctional apart from the coffee shop which was actually not too bad by local standards. Local standards are not high. This is truly one of the best places in the world for scuba diving but life above sea level is pretty basic at best. Nowhere decent to eat and nothing much to do. Worst of all the place is infested with smug new age types all intent on playing crustier-than-thou. " This is actually pretty touristy compared to Sulawese" , " Oh I usually do homestay with the Local People, its more real", " I prefer the real Indonesia, I like sleeping in a tree". Well personally I love the diving but would prefer to stay in the Hilton between dives because I'm not a stupid hippy

Good”
Good hotel near the port. You can see the view of the port and the sea from the rooms. The name points out that it is located on top of the hill, so there were lots of stairs to get into your room. Not very handy of you bring lots of stuff. Room quite nice and clean. Breakfast just standard.

Good location”
Room is clean & tidy and have few variety choice of breakfast to choose. The room no.1 lighting is a bit dim and toilet flushing is soft, suggest use their public toilet if you wanna to... Location is good, below there is a cafe where you can have a latte. The restaurant opposite, Mediterraneo serve very good italian foods. Near to a few dive operators and a lot shops along the stretch. Be aware of their morning prayers start early wee hours, there are 2 mosques close by. Don't bother to stay away from them, it broadcast through the speakers. Unless you want to stay away from the town area which you will require transport to & fro.

Ask for the new rooms”
Stayed here on two separate occasions: one night before a live aboard and one night after. The first room was nice, it's a newer one. The second room was in the older part of the hotel and was pretty gross. If you stay here, ask for the new rooms.

It did the trick. It is close to all the main dive and trek planning shops. ”
Breakfast is pretty bad - so this is no bonus. Mediterraneao restaurant across the street is excellent. So too is the little Greek restaurant about 50 m left out the hotel. The coffee shop at the bottom of hotel is best in LBJ. Use this as a place that you jump off to an adventure or return from. A taxi from here is 50,000 to the airport.

Disappointing”
We booked a room judging from the photos, with a view over Labuan Bajo and the sea. They gave us a room with view to a wall, very dark, very tired, when we asked the manager he said the photos were 10 years, take it or leave it. They changed us to a room with view for the first night but to the condition we went back to the no view room for the second night. We changed our flight and didn't stay the second night, otherwise we would have booked another hotel and loose the money. No bathroom door.

Very good”
We had a nice stay at Green hill. Comfortable and large room with a nice view. Great location, close to many restaurants and a great cafe downstairs. The mosque will wake you up at 5am but that is unavoidable in Labuan Bajo.
