Only con, is that it's right on a main road. Which makes it very noisy at night when you are trying to sleep. But definitely not unbearable.

Wonderful stay in Ubud”
It is the best stay I have. The Balinese style life. We have a balcony to enjoy our breakfast in the morning. Peaceful. Location is good, 5 minutes walk to the Main Street. The boss is really helpful, giving you good advice of travel, staff are friendly, quick response to your request.

Old inn”
The room is spacious but it’s old. The AC unit in our room was dripping water, and the shower tiles were moldy and could use some scouring. It doesn’t even have a toiletries rack in the shower so I had to put my toiletries on top of the toilet tank. I was misled by the photos. I thought it has a spacious garden but it doesn’t. On the plus side, the staff were all very nice and gracious.

Very nice place, garden and breakfast!”
Unfortunatly, we have to complain about the lack of information from the staf regarding tourist thingsf. They didn't know any information on how to find a bus to Padangbai (ferry to Lembak), a very common trip, or had any facilities such as motorcycle rental. Everything else was actually great! Breakfast is toast with egg and jams, 3 different kinds of fruits and drink. The room had a lot of space and we had hot water during the day (not early morning because everyone was showering). We recommend you to stay here, but make sure to find everything you need for your travels, logistics, transport, places to go, etc. beforehand!

Beautiful little compound”
I really liked it for a few days while I explored Ubud to find my longer term spot. The morning breakfasts on the outside balcony were very nice. The only drawback was the rooster every morning - but after living in Ubud longer I grew accustomed to them! Very nice central location to walk to various things while you get your bearings in town.

I loved this place! ”
Firstly, in low season it is incredibly good value for money. It is in walking distance (<1 mile) to some fairly good places to eat, both budget and expensive. Mushroom Bay is a bit of a mess though, I'd recommend skipping that beach and choosing ones where the tourists don't come in by boat with their litter. The rooms are nicely appointed, and we especially liked rooms 4 and 5 which are the ones with the outside bathrooms. Note rooms 4 and 5 are made from wood, so slightly less soundproof and come supplied with a mosquito net, rooms 1-3 are concrete in construct. 4/5 also has an interconnecting door perfect for families. Yoman the staff member that took care of us that week is generally friendly and quite hard working, we often saw him tending to the garden - which was beautiful. He was a bit cheeky trying to charge us 200,000 rupiah to drop us for down in the town though. The pool and garden are gorgeous. We had a really relaxing stay here and I'd love to return.

Delighted with our stay ”
We arrived late at night and the owner stayed up to make sure he could greet us, we was very welcoming and showed us to our room very swiftly. We were thankful to go straight to bed. The suite that we stayed in was excellent, a true gem in our trip - very clean and comfortable. Couldn't have asked for more really! Ok maybe a kettle to go with the coffee cups but that's it. Having a sofa and a fridge in the suite made it feel like home. It's very well located, just a few minutes walk from the centre, but it's on a fairly quiet road so there is not really much road noise. Highly recommended!

Very good”
Place is off a narrow side street from the main Ubud road, it's a good 5-10 min walk to most restaurants and tourist attractions but the benefit is that the place is super peaceful. Facilities are not that new but still well-maintained, the room we got was very spacious and perfect to return to after a long day of sightseeing. They also allowed us to check in a few hours before the official check in time. Only major quibble was the relative lack of accessible power outlets, only one side of the bed has an available outlet. But all in all, for the price we paid it was absolutely a good deal. Would definitely recommend to travellers on a budget, but who still want to feel some of that unique Ubud charm.

Second time staying - still great”
I have stayed here twice now and I really like this place. It only has 3 rooms and my favorite by far is the one right above the stairs because of the open air bathroom and decorating style. You get breakfast on the balcony in the morning. It's nice looking over the family temple. On my second stay the hot water didn't work consistently.

10/10 Experience”
Quiet place that gives you an acient vibe. The location is also discreet to order uber without any hassle from local drivers. The room is well equiped and much cleaner than we expected. The view from the balcony is romatic for a chilling evening. There are restaurants next door for vegetarian and healthy food gluten free, and even famous local food baksi ikan, served by real locals at cheap price. I would definitely stay here again. The staffs do not present all the time, but that's also a good thing because it makes you feel like you're in your own house.

Location, Clean, and Courteous staff
My stay in this guest house with 3 available rooms along its veranda in the 2nd level fronting the family courtyard for Hindu rituals are really amazing. It provided me enough relaxation as I have intended in my stay in Bali. Being in a quiet neighbourhood but still accessible and walkable to and from the major attractions and activities of central Ubud is really the plus for this place. My initial 3-night stay was extended for another night as I realised how lovely the place is. Would definitely recommend this place to my friends and will stay here again when I get back to Ubud.

Good location and very comfortable place”
very good location, quiet, clean and comfortable place, courteous staffs
My stay in the Grey House Ubud is very comfortable as I have thought it to be. The place is nice as it is located in a quiet neighbourhood without losing its accessible location to the must sees and must go places around the central Ubud area. Practicably walkable from the major points and very conveniently located. The room itself from the veranda fronting the traditional family courtyard gives the real feeling of being in Bali, right at the cultural centre of the island, in Ubud. Relaxation is what I have realised from the place as I have intended it to be. The staffs along with the landlady of the place is friendly, approachable, and courteous. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends visiting Ubud with the same intent as I am and will definitely stay here once again. I hope guests will take care of the amenities as they are really fine and nicely arranged.

You get more than you pay for. One of Ubud's best.”
Quality of the rooms and service, friendliness of staff, perfect location.
I could not have had a better stay at Grey House. I booked for three nights but ended up staying two weeks. The staff, location, and quality of the rooms are the best I've seen for this rate in Ubud. It's like a homestay with a boutique hotel feel. The rooms are gorgeously decorated, with a balcony looking out onto a well-manicured garden. Joni and his wife, who run Grey House, are extremely welcoming and kind. Breakfast and the tea/coffee available throughout the day are more than enough. Very clean and well-maintained. Excellent, strong wifi. Location is right next to the main drag of Ubud, but on a more local, quiet street. Seriously, I found it hard to leave. I've been calling this place home and the balcony my office. I'm planning when I'll come back. To rent out a room longterm. I kid you not.

nice room, good location and big help when i got sick
i can not say i was able to enjoy the location too much as i got sick the day i arrived at the grey house. i had high fever and stayed in bed. when i had to go to hospital the stuff was there to give me ride to the clinic and waited there for me to drive back to grey house together - FREE OF CHARGE. even though my stay wasnt perfect i want to thank johnny and his stuff for his kindness and help when i was alone and a bit too weak to organise transport on my own. i would highly recommend the place and come back anytime. many thanks!

Embodiment of an Ubud vacation”
Quiet and relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, very nice dog
A perfect place for our Ubud adventures. While location was a bit far away from the main Ubud tourist strip (about 10 mins walk), that is resolved by the scooters that could be rented to go around town. Breakfast was great, and lots of food joints and spa around the area. This being a homestay, my tip for future guests is to get everything you need from the staff as early and as much as you can when you check in and during breakfast. The staff dont stick around the house after breakfast and morning chores as they also have other stuff to do (e.g. School, work, etc). Overall great stay! Will come back

Value for money stay”
Great value, big room, helpful staffs.
The hotel was not easy to locate since it is small and all the buildings look the same around the area. However, the location is pretty convenient. We rented a bike from the owner at Rp50,000 per day and it is definitely worth it, as it helps us get to the places easily. Room is big, however, don't expect too much since this is a homestay. Breakfast was good, they offered banana pancake or toast bread for breakfast. Since it is a homestay, we always have a hard time finding the owner, but once we found them, they are always ready to help.
