Good but a bit out of the way”

Cleanliness...Quiet....Price

Overall Hokorobi was good. It was very clean. The staff was friendly and spoke English. I would stay here again. The downside to this place is the location. It is less than a five minute walk from the a subway station, but it is in the middle of a residential neighborhood. The izakayas I ate at were fantastic but there was not much else to do, unless you like pachinko. 2. It was difficult for me to find. If it had not been for a kind university student I would have been lost. The hostel had many guests so maybe my mapping skills are the issue.

All the staff are really nice and ultimately friendly. Situated in a quiet area but with nearby conbinis. The guest house is squeaky clean all the time. If you need help or have questions, staff are always available. Will be back for sure. Highly recommended.

All are good except location”

It's not because it locates far from the subway station, no, not at all. But the thing is the subway station ( Muromi) is quite far from Tenjin and Hakata. So, every time you need to be at Hakata ( the biggest station in Fukuoka i think ) to take the train, shinkansen or JR railway, you need to take at least 20 mins to go there from Muromi station. Anyway, except this, the rest are good, i really love it.

The location is a little remote, but it's close to the subway station and some convenience stores Friendly and helpful staff A nice, but if it's full, a little to small common area for interesting chats with the staff or other guests Clean en suite shower/toilet and extra shower/toilet with access from the common area. the only thing that i missed was the for japan usual curtain at the bed for some privacy Hit my head a few times when i tried to get into the bottom bunk or wanna sight on the bed, but i'm tall ;)

Warm + Homely Feel”

+ve Cleanliness: Relatively clean. The building and guesthouse is not very new but it is kept clean by staff everyday. Baths and showers are clean. Lounge area is cozy and clean. Facilities: Wi Fi in room. Showers are shared only within the dorm itself. Lounge available for cooking and eating. Washing machine for free!!!! Space to dry clothes on the rooftop. There are big lockers in room and lock and keys are provided. Staff: The staff were awesome to say the least. Alyssa was super patient in helping me make a call to a dolphin cruise i wanted to go to which was really far away. And she even offered to cancel it for me since it was not really feasible. I think only Alyssa and another staff knows how to speak english but i think you can get by easily. They are very friendly and helpful. -ve Location: Not really a very bad location per se but it is not really close to the subway. It is a 7-10 minutes walk from the nearest train station. Also it is perhaps a 15-20 minutes ride away to the major stations like Tenjin and Hakata. BUT it is not really a huge negative point for me since i did not mind the 20 minutes train ride. There are family marts/ 7-11 a short walk away so location was not too bad. FINAL THOUGHTS Considerably cheap for a 4 bed dormitory. Decent location (although a 5 minutes walk to the station). Each Dorm has their own toilet! (So you only share it with at most 4 people at a time). STAFF ARE SUPER FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. I had an awesome stay here, the people were amazing and facilities were clean and good! I would rate it 5 stars for value for money!

Very good”

Pros: Quite easy to find. Staff are really friendly and helpful! Cooking ware and dishes are easily available for your use in the common room. Aircon/heating was working well, also hot water in the bathroom. You can borrow slippers and umbrellas at the guesthouse for free. Cons: Quite a walk from the train station and there's no elevator in the building, so bringing heavy luggage might be quite difficult. Staff are more than willing to help you carry your bags up the stairs though to your room so it's okay. One of the beds in my room still had strands of hair attached to the comforter, so not sure how often they clean it. The area under the beds was also dusty and had a lot of items dropped by previous guests most likely. Bath towels are not included in the room, but you can pay ¥100 to rent a towel.

(Arguably) the best budget hostel in Japan”

Have traveled in Japan for over than 1 month, I didn't see any hostel price as competitive as this one (probably I was lucky that Agoda had a promotion at that time). Anytime, considering its price, the facilities there are perfect. You can do laundry for free! Staffs are helpful as well! The only drawback is probably its location that's a bit far from Hakata/Tenjin (but easily reached by subway). Thank you!

Quiet place to rest”

I stayed a couple of nights in the 8 bed dorm. There was a full bathroom in the room, and I believe each room has its own. There is also another bathroom for common use. My favorite part of the place was the staff. They are kind and friendly and speak English well. I had a nice conversation my last day with two of the staff members (make sure to ask Reina about Oklahoma :) There is also a kitchen area where you can cook and eat together. A very lovely place. Only thing, it is a bit far from the main part of the city, which some travelers may not like, but was just fine for me. Would recommend to a friend

Worth it for the price”

Got the twin, private bathroom unit and it has a bonus balcony! You just need to pay 100 yen for towel rental which was ok. Water in the shower & sink is just either super hot or super cold. To me who likes it lukewarm, it was kinda a hassle for me to adjust the faucet from time to time. The neighborhood is quiet, gives you a vibe of how is it to live Japanese style! It’s a 5-7min walk to the train station. I love walking so I didn’t mind. Admin never answered to my messages here via app, but they were accommodating in person. I think they allow late check-ins because we arrived at around 10pm. Blowdryers are available in the corridors. You just need to return it whenever you’re done using it. There’s also a 4-door closet in our private room.

Clean guesthouse and friendly staffs”

The guesthouse has all you need especially as a solo traveler. The communal area was nice and people can sit down and relax enjoying their meal while sharing their stories to each other. The kitchen has a lot of storage for food which was fantastic and kitchen utensils are well equipped. Room was spacious and the staff will always clean the room at around noon. The toilet is a bit small but very clean. The staffs were really polite and friendly and they can speak good English. I would totally recommend this guesthouse.

Pros: Staff is friendly, bed/mattress (dorm for 6) is clean but thin/flattened due to long used, environment is comfortable, 200-300meter away from bus/subway station Cons: price is a bit higher than expected. Thanks a lot for having us! 👫 🙏

Spring Trip in Fukuoka”

Hostel is like 7 mins walk from Muromi Subway station. My dorm room is located at the 3rd floor with own bathroom with shampoo and body wash and it has bath tub so you dip in hot water after being outside on a cold weather for long time. Bed has curtains for you privacy. Has a heater inside. Reception is the dining area as well, Free use of Kitchen. They accept credit cards here. Free us of washer and detergent but have to pay for the gas dryer for a ¥100. The neighborhood is too quiet thats why I liked it in here even the price is a little bit higher compare to some in Tenjin Area. Nearby supermarket and Lawsons to grab some cheap foods and drinks. they even have a vendo machine inside the reception if you want something to drink aside from the potable water on the kitchen. Staff are cool, they can speak English atleast. Domo arigatogozaimasu!

Well-facilitated and cosy guesthouse close to Muromi station ”

The staff are very friendly and helpful! The tent on the rooftop is a bonus! A great place to relax. The female dormitory is properly sized. So great that they didn’t fill up all the space with bunk beds, instead lockers are arranged for each residents to lock up valuables. There is also a balcony where we can sun dry clothes (they also provide washing machines downstairs for free and drying machine for low cost). There is a bathroom in each dorm that is convenient to use. It is so considerate that they provide a curtain for each bed so that we could have some privacy when we want. The common areas are great too - a well-equipped kitchen, a beautiful smoking area and also a dining table to gather around or watch TV. This guesthouse is only 3 mins walk from Muromi station which is along the kuko line. There are convenient stores, supermarket and a large drug store nearby. Absolutely value of money!
