    Steer away!”
    Only the location
We've spent 2 nights there. Horrible experience. Good only if you're shooting a documentary on Socialist and/or looking for a first-hand experience of that period. Despite the excellent location (5 min walking from the Arena), I can't find a reason to suggest this hotel: not renovated since the '60s (with the exception of the color tv); the room was dirty (by any standard) and worn, with no a/c and unbearably hot (also because located in the garret, right below the roof and with a very small window). We've opened the window to get some fresh air and it was a bad idea, as the room was soon infested by mosquitos. The breakfast was poor (no service, poor food and the only hot drinks were from a vending machine). I wish I had read the other reviews before booking. Don't go there until they renovate the hotel (which has indeed some potential, since the building is beautiful, with lots of shared spaces that could become dining rooms, gym, meeting rooms etc.).

Fantastic Exterior but somewhat lacking within”
Location and aesthetics of the exterior
Since we were staying just the one night in Pula we opted for this hotel as it is in excellent location for accessing the bus station and train station (should you find a train that actually stops at Pula). The Riviera hotel is very close to the Colloseum/Amphitheatre as well as the main town itself. So the location of the hotel is excellent. It's just the soul of the hotel seems to be lacking. To say it's past its best would be kind. The hotel needs some love and some money throwing at it in order for it to be the hotel it deserves to be. Having said that it's reasonably priced, offers a breakfast (we had an early bus and missed this) and is in fantastic location for exploring, so if a bed, shower and place to drop your gear off is what you're after then you could do worse!.

    Guest house room”
    OK personell in this hotel
We arrieved in july and warm period. Our room was in 5th floor and in top. No aircondition and exctremly hot in room. This warm was in this period and no sleep in this night. We where lucky to have a fan but noice outside all night made it impossible to sleep. We are more aircondition people and for us this was wrong place. Stuff in hotel was polite and very survice minded.

    Good location, too many mosquitoes”
    Location, close to the arena
This hotel is well situated, close to the arena. Free parking oposite to the hotel. Wifi is available only in the lobby and restaurant. Rooms were clean, breakfast was not rich but was acceptable in any case. The room was, however, plagued with mosquitoes (being close to the water) so don't forget to bring a repelent. Ok value for the money.

    Perfect for a single night”
Cheap, close to train and buss, helpful staff
Very cheap and as such perfect for staying a single night while waiting to catch the buss the next day. Very basic room but in no way cramped. I was quite surprised of the spaciousness, not only in the room but the hallway and reception too. Clearly worn but nothing bad for the price, and moreover the staff was helpful and had good knowledge about the area. I had to leave before breakfast hours, but offered me a breakfast pack to carry with me.

    Great location but dirty rooms”
    best for sight seeing
if only stay one night is ok. great location and bus station (200m from hotel) rooms have very high ceilings, even given the curious inclusion of an office-style suspended ceiling, hiding a multitude of sins maybe. but it was not hiding an air conditioning duct. breakfast ok but serve time is short.

Big rooms are a mosquito safari park”
    Appearance and cost
It is a spectacular building from around 1890, and has no signs of maintenance since, with the possible exception of the addition of an electric elevator. Rooms have very high ceilings, even given the curious inclusion of an office-style suspended ceiling, hiding a multitude of sins maybe. But it was not hiding an air conditioning duct. We were here in July. Two choices - close window and get free all night sauna treatment, or open window and hope your family members are tastier than you are. I drank lots of of beer and slept away from the window and did not get bitten. She drank lots of rum and coke, and counting bites by the score. Ouch.

    OK transfer hotel”
Enormous room and corridors Tidy rooms Glamorous past of the hotel is kinda cool Very central location (if you want to be in central Pula, that is, beach is a short bus ride away) Perfectly ok breakfast for the price we paid
Hotel is almost deserted Kind of gloomy Not too much else is negative, as it was very cheap
The corridors and room were enormous and clean, albeit a bit gloomy. Have never slept in a bigger room except for luxury suites (which this was not). The interior told a tale of a glamorous past. Bathroom was also very large, and perfectly ok and clean. Towels and soap were included as well. The hotel (or guest house as it is called) was almost deserted, but what little we saw of the staff were very friendly. One of the staff gave us a lift to the airport instead of taking a taxi (he took 100 kruna for it as opposed to ~150-200 for a taxi). He explained that the hotel is mostly used as a transfer hotel, almost all guest stay one night or two at the most. They only keep a few of the rooms open. Breakfast was ok, and the dining room was an old ball room which probably have held a few glamorous events back in the day...
