fantastic japanese guesthouse! love it!”
we only stayed for 1 night but could easily stay longer and we'll definitely come back to this place! the futon mattresses were the most comfortable ones we have slept on! and perfect location. approx 7min walk from JR Nara station and max 10min walk to deer park! and Nara is such a beautiful place!
This place is incredible. The owner is very kind and nice, he's very helpful and ready to be of assistance. The room is extremely clean, and the location is right near the walking street. I totally love this place and will visit this guesthouse again if I go to Nara in the future.
Best CP value. Very nice owner.”
We stayed 3 nights. We informed the owner that we would arrive nara by 7. and unexpectedly he was already waiting in the cold windy street to pick us! He was an very passionate owner. The room is clean with bathroom and toilet. Basic amenities like shampoo, shower lotion ,paper towel are provided. The AC can be switched to heater mode to warm the room during cold weather. Kitchen with microwave, fridge, stove are provided in a shared basis. Although rules has already set that guest should be keep quiet during night time but some Chinese girls were still noisy and rude. Near by facilities like convenience shops, supermarket, onsen are not far away. Best CP value and best owner I ever meet.
perfect location with helpful staff”
It is very nice to stay in Guest House Iki, the room is very clean and the staff is so helpful. The location is very good, it take only 5 to 10 mins walk from either JR line or Kintetsu line. I high recommend this to my friends.
Fantastic. Will recommend this to others”
Excellent, just some minor suggestions for improvements - basin can be bigger and a kettle for each room. But other than these 2, really a perfect guesthouse that I will DEFINITELY recommend!!! Must stay.
worth to spend....”
i was very enjoys to stay at Iki Guest house, i didnt expect that it's just next to main shopping stress of Nara.... The staff is very very helpful & friendly, i had requested him to print me my e-boarding pass and expect i will need to pay, but when i ask him how much to pay, then he answer me is ok , free n happy to help me..... The staff not fluent in English, but compare with lots of Japaneses.... His English level consider above average...
Well located very close to JR station and Kintetsu Station. The owner is very friendly can can speak and understand English well. Very comfortable room (Japanese tatami style but the bath room is quite small). You will feel like home here. Good travel information provided by the owner. Kitchen can be used to prepare simple food. Wifi available.
Great location, comfy room and friendly staff”
Pros: The location is great, right next to shops and restaurants and a quick walk to the park with the beautiful deer. There aren't many rooms. We had an ensuite bathroom and were given a free upgrade to our own double which was great. Quiet & clean. Staff were super friendly and gave us a map of the area. Cons: Kitchen is super tiny and cooker can only be used at certain times.
Looks like apartment or hotel amenities ”
Bathrooms with showers were provided in every room based off the emergency exit map. Room was ample enough to layout luggage. Host was careful to avoid luggage scuffs on the wood floors and promptly wipe the luggage wheels.
Best guest house i'ved stayed”
Even though the location is a little bit hard to find, but the staff had sent us a clear map. Room is really clean, and the kitchen we can use is very clean as well. The staff is really nice, he told us how we can visit the spot through different buses, with the cheapest way. Me and my friends will definitely come back to here as long as we visit Nara! Highly recommended!
A bit hard to find, but the owner was eager to help.”
The location was a bit hard to find, but the owner has sent a detailed map beforehand, and once we told him when we were supposed to arrive, he waited us at the entry of the small path! The room was clean and tidy, every bed had an outlet and a lamp. The owner was very keen to help, gave us advices on how to go to the places that we planned to visit. Wonderful!
Affordable yet comfortable stay in Nara”
The guest house is located approx. 10 minutes walk to either JR or Kintetsu station. I had no trouble locating the place using Googlemaps and the detailed instructions given by the host prior to arrival is really helpful. The host is friendly, energetic, helpful and speaks good English. He helped us with carrying our luggage to the room and explains in details about the whole facility during our arrival. The room is adequately sized for two, and it is clean and well maintained. There is also a shared kitchen in case you need to make coffee or tea (provided free of charge) or cook simple dishes during your stay. The town itself is small and everything can be reached by bicycle or foot. There are also buses departing from train stations if you need it. The host helped us a lot in planning our sightseeing route. Bicycle is also provided (for a small fee) if you like to cycle. There is no meal service in the guest house, but it is located within walking distance to plenty of restaurants and cafe, and as such hunting for food is not a big deal. I would highly recommend this place if you ever go to Nara and needed a place to stay.
Cheap and clean”
It's in Nara, a small town hence the hotels are cheaper. Highly suggest to just stay in Nara and buy train ticket to travel to Osaka and Kyoto. The room is big compare to the one I stay in Osaka and Kyoto. Very friendly staff. Only downside is that is slightly far from train station(10minutes walk). It's long considering you walk the whole day around Nara already
Great accomodation with all you need for Nara”
This was my 2nd stay at the Iki guest house and I think that says it all. We've rented bikes and forgot to pay, when I contacted the owner in the retrospect, he didn't want the rental fee and thanked us for coming back again. Wow! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Guest House Iki”
Great. We spent two nights here and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were really clean and well kept. Staff were super friendly and helpful too. The guest house is within walking distance of the Deer Park and JR Nara station. It was really easy to get everywhere we needed.
A clean and conveniently located guesthouse”
The guesthouse is conveniently located (main destinations, shopping area and train stations are all within walking distance), while the neighborhood and the guesthouse itself is very quiet and clean (we stayed in the Japanese style room for two), which is great to take a good rest at night. The owner is very nice and attentive, providing useful information. Though there's no TV in the room, after a little while you'll find the quietness is indeed what you need to calm down and enjoy your stay in this nice city. We had a good time here, with a really reasonable room rate. I'd recommend this guesthouse to someone who'd like a simple and clean place to stay.
Staff was friendly and hotel was centrally located”
Our stay was fantastic. We came for a day trip to Nara and were able to get from the JR station to the hotel in about 5 minutes. The hotel was only 5 minute walk to all the major sites and we were able to explore the city without having to get cabs. The staff was friendly and gave us recommendations on where to go and even warned us when it might rain and offered umbrellas to use.
Friendly Staff, Excellent Bang for your Buck”
I gave a 3 for Dining because there are no food services in the guesthouse. The fellow running the shop, Jun, was most helpful in making my stay enjoyable. Place was easy to find and a short stroll down the main street from the railway station. Bike rental available which made exploring Nara a breeze. I was there for only a day but I wasted very little time. Popped into the guesthouse dropped my luggage and off I go on a bike. Came back after dinner to check-in and into a warm bed.
Charming, immaculate and friendly.”
We really enjoyed our stay at Guest House Iki. It was very conveniently located and the staff were very helpful with looking after our bags when we arrived early. I LOVED the traditional room with tatami mats. It smelt so nice. We set up the futon at night ourselves which was very easy, and it was comfortable and warm. For breakfast there are a lot of nearby convenienience stores to get bento boxes and we ate in our room. It was a very relaxing stay and a great place to enjoy the temples from.
Best place to stay in Nara”
This was our first stop in Japan and thought that if all the hostels where we were going to be staying would be like this one, we were in Paradise! Unfortunately, they weren't and I must say that this was the best guest house where we stayed in during our trip in Japan. The staff was really nice, friendly and helpful with all our questions. We were a group of four (2 couples) and stayed in a family room, with two bulk beds. The beds were very very comfortable and the room was spotless and really spacious. We had a table with four chairs and a bathroom fully equipped. I must say that the bathroom was super clean! The guest house has a kitchen with coffee and tea available for free. You can also use the kitchen to cook or store food in the fridge if you need to. The room and the guest house in general was very quiet so I am sure you will get a good night sleep (as we all did). The location is unbeatable. The hostel is about 6 minutes walking to the train station and about the same distance (10 mins) to the Nara Park (the main attraction in Nara and a place you cannot miss). The directions given by the host to get from the train station to the guest house were really accurate so I advise you to print the map he will send you by email. The tourist centre is 2 minutes walking from the guest house where you can get tour guides for free for few hours. You can also get the tour guide for free from the guest house Iki, ask for it at the reception and they will arrange the guide for you. There are lots of restaurants around the guest house (about 4 minutes walking). I cannot sell this place enough but if I am going back to Nara one day I will not consider anything else but this guest house to stay.
