Charming, central, affordable”
My wife and I stayed in a tatami room that can sleep 4 people at Kete, and we really loved it. The room and the little zen-style garden in the courtyard have a beautiful classical Japanese style. The shared restrooms and showers were clean, not although not always convenient since the only showers and washbasins are on the first floor. Kind and smiling staff!

Value for money”
Stayed here for few nights as we visited Kyoto. We stayed in 8 bunk bed room just nice for my family. Place is near to few subway stations. The bath and toilet is separated but generally clean (also depends on the cleanliness of the occupants). When we were there it wasn't high season so things were pretty ok. There are few Japanese eating places recommend by the Guesthouse located few hundreds meters away also serve decent meal at very affordable price. You can also rent bicycle there to ride to almost all of Kyoto must visit places.

Value for money, excellent location, helpful staff”
If you are ok with a budget guest house, this place is great! Excellent location and very helpful friendly staff. Everyone who stayed here was very sweet and nice too. We were in the family room on the top floor with our baby. It was a spacious room, away from the rest of the house with a balcony. We were close to a toilet and sink. Though we had to go down 3 flights of very steep stairs to go to the showers and to go out. AS many people were using the facilities, they weren't always clean and things like the soap would run out but it's to be expected in this kind of place. We felt like it was a great value for our money and extended our stay one night.

If you want to stay in real Japanese house.”
I feel satisfied with the hotel location, pretty near from the Kiyomizu-Gojō Station and bus stops, near shopping malls like Takashimaya and Daimaru and Nishiki Market, you can reach the places by walk. Toilets and shower room are clean enough. The only thing I feel displeased is the room key. The room doesn't have key, only use a small padlock. And one of the nights, our room door handle suddenly broken. We couldn't open the door from inside the room, so we had to call somebody's help, since the staff were already gone on 11 PM, finally the other guest helped us to open the door. This place will be my last option to stay whenever I visit Kyoto next time.

Awesome Place! ”
This location is right between some of the best areas of Kyoto. If you don't mind walking, you can navigate your way through the neighborhood streets and reach the Geisha District, Kyoto Station, popular river hangout spot, food market, busy shopping streets, and probably more, all by foot. The staff are very polite and if definitely brings a homey feel. Showers could use some work but still clean. Overall, highly recommended.

Good place!”
I think it's better if you come to stay as solo or group in 2-3 people but it's not suit to family (children and old people) because the stair is quit steep and I think there are narrow rooms and you have to move the table before you sleep it's not comfortable and There are narrow one living room it's hard to have meals with other guests. But This guest house is very clean and near to convinient store and if you like walking you can walk to kiyomizu dera, Gion and Ponto-cho.

Very good location”
Great staff, great location (10 minute walk to trains, great restaurants in the local area, in either direction from the hotel), a very comfortable stay. Have to look after yourself when there but that's not really a criticism, just the rules of the place. Thank you guys. We were there for a few days, staying here in Kyoto made it a really good stay.

Very good”
The front desk is closed between 12:00 and 16:00, between these times you cannot check in or store your luggage. This is extremely impractical if you arrive in Kyoto during these times. We had to carry our luggage around with us all afternoon which made it difficult to explore Kyoto. Email communication could also be improved, we sent the hostel a message and did not get a response. Apart from this it is in a great location. Clean and comfortable accommodation. Good facilities with a lovely garden area.

Not suitable for elderly people”
I took my parents to Japan recently and booked a stay at Guest House Kete. I knew that it was a guest house with shared facilities like the toilet or shower area. Unfortunately I only found out that the shower area was only available on the ground floor. So that made it difficult for me and my dad (70 years old) cause there were no lifts or escalators... Just very steep stairs. The guest house was nice, but walls were really really thin and any slight movement from outside your door can be heard. Do not bring big luggage with you if you intend to stay here because carrying them up was a very difficult. So this place is not suitable for the elderly or any one with joint problems. Also not suitable for anyone with big luggage bags.

Good For Younger Travelers”
The Guest House is ideal for young travelers who do not mind climbing up and down the narrow staircase and sharing the common facilities. Decent and clean set up with the kitchen facilities made available. Staff members are friendly and helpful. With the convenience of 24 hours restaurants and supermarkets in the vicinity, the location is ideal for those, who are not looking for luxurious accommodation.

Inconvenient”
This guest house has very odd rules that may inconvenince your stay. The office is closed from 11-4. So if you arrive later than 11am, you have to figure out where to put your luggage. Check in is after 4 but before 8, so if you’re sightseeing, you have to come back to the hotel to check in. Overall it’s more of a headache than it should be. Wouldn’t recommend to stay here unless your schedule fits their strict requirements.
