If you're looking for peaceful, comfortable, authentic, warm, simple, Nagomi is your place. And your hostess speaks English too. The surrounding neighborhood, about 35 minutes by bus from Kyoto Station, features a village-like shrine, a delicious bakery open by 7am, a must-experience Onsen, and small mom and pop businesses that feel as if you're eating with your favorite grandparent. There is a friendly puppy, Tamu, on the property. He's awesome. And, you are asked to be silent after 10pm. If you can handle those few rules, I highly recommend you experience Nagomi.

Very traditional Japanese home!”
Traditional home, clean environment , good location
We stayed for 4 nights. Location is only 5 mins walk from bus stop. Nearby convenience shops, supermarket is close. Famous hot spring, funaoka onsen is only 10 mins walk. The room is clean with tatami. Very traditional Japan experience. The living room is full of Japanese color, low table with heater underneath. Shared toilet and bathroom is clean. Washing machine nominal charge ¥100 for once. Rules are set in the guesthouse as the amenities are shared with the owners family and his kids. Future guests please obey and keep the environment clean like keeping quiet, separating rubbish, keeping the toilet clean. Very nice experience to taste the Japanese culture.

traditional Japanese house, noisy room”
there is a kitchen, traditional Japanese wooden house, noisy
traditional Japanese wooden house, gives us a traditional experience. you can use the same kitchen with the owner. Infact we don't recommend this guest house. The room is too noisy, you can hear the motors and cars deep in the whole night, very noisy. we lived there for 3 days...oh... And small bath room, the water is sometimes hot and sometimes cold.seems the hot water isnot enough。

Comfortable guesthouse with attentive staff”
Traditional Japanese House, Close to Kinkakuji Temple
The staff is nice, and can speak good English. The room is comfortable although a little simple. Anyway, it is a good choice for tourist keen for experiencing traditional Japanese living.

Unique place to stay, ”
Traditional home and sleeping quarters, good food within walking distance, close to public transportation, good wifi
We had a great time staying at Guest House Nagomi. A unique experience in this quaint home. Proprietors were super friendly and helpful. They had great suggestions of sights to see and paces to eat. Living space was clean and well organized, rooms a decent size. Highly recommend!

Fantastic stay - converted traditional Kyoto home”
Friendly owner & family, Non-touristy neighborhood, Real home, On several bus lines
We had a wonderful 4-night stay at Guest House Nagomi. This is *such* a more authentic Kyoto experience than any hotel stay will give you. It's a converted traditional Kyoto home that you share with the owner (Hide) and his family, plus a few other travelers (depending on the dates). You'll be sharing bathroom / shower amenities, and the rooms aren't huge, but this is what it's like living in a home in Kyoto. Hide and his family are great. From the photos on the wall, you can tell that he was a former traveler with quite a wanderlust. He speaks English, so you can get some tips from him, too. When you check in, he'll sit you down and go over the "house rules" (e.g., home is "closed" from 12pm-3pm daily, you can rent towels, bikes, washing machine, etc.). He'll also give you a small map of the neighborhood that highlights onsen / sento, restaurants, grocery stores / convenience stores, etc. Then he'll leave you to your own business if you so desire, but is available by knock on his a door for anything else. We traveled through Japan for two weeks. This was the best stay we had. As long as you're willing to share the space with other travelers, you'll be in for a unique experience. Thanks, Hide & family!
