“Best location and value for money.”

The most important aspect for me when traveling is the location of the accommodation, so I choose a place that is as close as possible to major tourist attractions and the places I want to visit. This accommodation is very convenient for public transportation. It is less than a one-minute walk from the Kushida-jinja-mae Station, about a six-minute walk from Gion Station, and only about seven minutes on foot from Nakasu-Kawabata Station. Additionally, I can walk to major tourist attractions in Fukuoka. The accommodation is located right at the entrance of the famous Kawabata Shopping District, and the elevated cloud bridge connecting it to Canal City Hakata is less than a 10-second walk away. The southern gate of the major tourist site, Kushida Shrine, is also less than 10 seconds on foot from the accommodation. If desired, I can visit Kawabata Shopping District, Canal City Hakata, and Kushida Shrine multiple times a day. Next to the subway station Kushida-jinja-mae, there is a large supermarket, Aeon Max Value, which is open until midnight and offers reasonably priced alcoholic beverages and groceries, making it easy to purchase meals and snacks. While it takes a bit longer to walk to the aforementioned subway stations, it is still walkable to the subway and JR Hakata Station, where I can access large shopping malls nearby. It takes less than ten minutes to walk to the end of the Kawabata Shopping District from the accommodation, and once I cross the pedestrian crossing at the end, I find the famous Riverain Hakata shopping mall. The 7th and 8th floors of that building are home to the Asian Art Museum, where the permanent exhibition on the 8th floor is free, while the special exhibitions on the 7th floor are ticketed. All floors, including the 7th and 8th, have a small library, souvenir shop, and café. Additionally, there are various tables and chairs arranged in a spacious area for many people to relax comfortably, and free Wi-Fi is also available. The accommodation is also within walking distance of Tenjin. On the way to Tenjin, I can visit places like Don Quijote Nakasu, Acros Fukuoka, the cruise boarding area, the old city hall guesthouse, and Suikyo Tenmangu. Once I enter the center of Tenjin, I find several shopping malls, including Daimaru Department Store, and if I walk further, I can also visit Kego Shrine. It is not far at all to walk from the accommodation to Gion Station, which has famous Buddhist temples such as Tocho-ji, Shofuku-ji, and Jo Ten-ji nearby. It is also not far from Gion Station to Hakata Station. I can walk to all of these tourist attractions from the accommodation. In my case, I only used the subway when going to Ohori Park and Hakozaki Shrine, and I walked to all other tourist attractions. Moreover, the famous Hakata River flows right beside the accommodation, and there are several bridges to cross, making it very romantic. There are various local restaurants and pubs around the accommodation, especially in the Kawabata Shopping District, which has many dining options and shops, making it possible to enjoy meals, shopping, and strolls. Above all, the area around the accommodation is densely packed with representative tourist attractions of Fukuoka. The cost-effectiveness is excellent. This is not a capsule hotel, but a guesthouse that provides body soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and towels. The shared kitchen is small but includes a microwave, water purifier, utensils, and cups, with a small space for dining as well. Above all, it is a great accommodation for travelers who prioritize cost-effectiveness and location.

    “Hassle-free experience”

The location is excellent - just a short walk to Canal city and conveniently close to three stations: Hakata, Gion and Kushida Shrine. There's also a lively shopping area nearby with plenty of restaurants to choose from. The room and shared bathrooms were clean, the towels were replaced daily, and all the basic toiletries were provided. The owners were also welcoming and friendly, making the stay feel even more comfortable. Overall, I had a really pleasant stay and would happily come back again.

“Why is the rating not good?”

The location is great. It's near the subway station, across from the market, and there’s Max Value (is it like 24-hour Homeplus in Korea?) just a 10-minute walk from restaurants like It’s Ramen and Don Quijote, as well as a shopping center with many nearby eateries. I made a reservation in advance to use it cheaply. It's not as clean as a hotel, but it was just as clean as my home. The air conditioner was weak, so it was somewhat hot, but it feels cool if you stay still, haha. It's worth using this accommodation again if I come back. The owner kindly advised us to use the shared restroom and shower on the upper floor since we had a large group. Oh, the photos weren't very detailed, but there are three sets of Japanese-style floor seating, one bunk bed (there’s an air conditioner there, lying down feels like dying), one super single bed, one two-person sofa, and one large table. You can comfortably have meals for six people if you sit on the single bed.

“Great central location, but dingy facilities could be improved”

I stayed here for 3 nights in a female shared dorm. I liked how centrally located the hostel was to everything in the city. I walked almost everywhere, except for Ohori park. The hostel itself is pretty dingy. From the photos I thought there would be more windows, but the rooms are quite dark. There were also no sheets on my bed (is this a thing in Japan?) and I just burrito wrapped myself up in the duvet each night, which was fine in the end. I get the impression that the building is quite old, and I’m assuming has quite a small water heater because all of my showers after 8am were freezing cold. If you stay here: make sure to use the shower early in the morning before the hot water is gone! It also wasn’t the cleanest, and could probably use with a more frequent vacuum, and sink/toilet clean. Mattress was very hard but if you are very tired like I was, you may not even notice !

“Location is what made this guesthouse a true gem.”

Arrived checked in myself and left checked out myself as well. Had to go up with stairs with my personal things with no assistance available. You have to leave your shoes at the ground floor. They provide Slippers though but very unhygienic for me. You can smell bad odor of shoes and feet by the entrance. Suggest to bring your own slippers. Room is kinda cramp especially when all beds were all occupied. 0 ventilation. No place to keep your things. Bed is comfortable enough to sleep but 0 privacy as no individual curtains. Washroom and shower room separate room. No privacy in using Washroom as it is located at the kitchen and reception area. Towels provided were not really okay to use. So bring your own if you can. Shampoo and bath gel were provided. Mini kitchen provided but again 0 privacy. Facilities were -10 hence 0 value for money. It is only a place to sleep for few hours and keep your things. Nothing really worth coming back to this place unless you have 0 budget and low expectation. Location is good for first time travellers in Fukuoka this is the only exceptional for me. Owner is okay and accommodation but not fully. I wish the owner can do some work on my suggestions after all location works for their advantage. Thank you once again.
